-------------------------------------------------------
Secret Weapons over Normandy is a World War II flying game from Lucas Arts
in which you take the roll of James Chase, American pilot flying for the Royal
Air Foce. As Chase, you, along with the other members of your Top Secret
Squadron, the Battlehawks, will aid the allies in many operations against the
German war machine, ranging from the sinking of U-boats to the protection of
US carriers at the Battle of Midway.
This guide is based on the North American release version.

-------------------------------------------------------
*** Rearming ***
When you are severely damaged or low on ammunition, you need to land and rearm.
To do this, locate the black circle with a white arrow shape inside of it on
radar. If you are facing it on screen, it will have a label saying "Partisan
Airfield," usually. Fly toward it. Once you are close, lower your landing
gear by pressing down on the D-Pad. Once your landing gear is completely
lowered, you can land in two ways: 1) Fly into the marker above the airfield.
2) Manually land on the runway near the airfield marker. Once you have landed
you must choose what secondary weapon you wish to carry, and you will
automatically take off.
*** Using Reflex Time ***
The Circle button permits you to use a feature called "Reflex Time." By
pressing this button once, you may slow down time in order to better react
to the pace of the battle. Pressing this button again will restore normal
time. Holding down circle will cause time to speed up, useful for when you
must cross large distances. Releasing circle will restore normal time.
*** Bombing ***
When bombing, it is best to switch to the Bombing Camera. Do this by pressing
Triangle once. This view, while limiting your ability to tell which way your
aircraft is pitched, gives you a better view of ground targets. You will
notice that there is a large yellow circle below you that grows larger and
smaller as you move. This is your bomb sight. Any bomb you drop will fall
somewhere within this yellow circle. By diving and pointing your aircraft's
nose at the target, you can cause the circle to shrink, thus increase the
accuracy of your bombs.
*** Dogfighting ***
When dog fighting, it is important to keep track of all enemy planes around
you. If you're not paying attention, while you're attempting to down one
plane, one of his wingmen will sneak in behind you and begin to shred you
with his machine guns. If this happens, immediately break off from your
target and attempt to down your attacker. You can also use the wingmen
command "Defend Me!" to have an ally near you begin attacking your attacker.
If you are finding that you cannot get a target into your sites, decelerate
and attempt to out turn him. Do not attempt this when climbing, though, as
it will cause you to stall and begin a nose dive. Finally, remember to use
the Slow Down feature of Reflex Time to lessen the crazy speed of the fight
and make your shots more accurate.
*** Armored Targets ***
If you are attacking something, and notice that it's health gauge is not
dropping, then the weapon you are currently using is not powerful enough.
Return to base, and rearm with a larger cannon, more powerful bomb, or more
powerful rocket.

****************IV. Mission Walkthrough*****************
--------------------------------------------------------
Mission 1: Dunkirk
------------------
Date: May 26, 1940
Suggested Plane: Must use Hurricane
Suggested Secondary Armament: Only primary weapon allowed
Primary Objectives: 1) Stop the Ju-87 Stukas from destroying the transports.
2) Destroy all BF-109s
3) Protect the Defensive Lines
4) Shoot Down Krieger
Secondary Objectives: 1) Destroy All German AA Guns
2) Destroy All Nemesis BF-109s
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroy Recon Group 1.
2) Destroy Recon Group 2.
Walkthrough:
Once the mission begins, immediately break left and shoot down the Stukas.
As you shoot the first group down, more will appear. Take them out
quickly, as it only takes a few hits for each ship to be destroyed.
After a bit, BF-109 fighters will appear to support the Stukas. If you
have not destroyed all the Stukas by now, ignore the fighters and
concentrate on them. Once all Stukas have been destroyed, begin engaging
the fighters. Once they are all destroyed, you will be taken to a cut
scene. After the cutscene, immediately head to the East Bridge. One or
two well placed bombs near the red target label representing the bridge
will bring it down, and destroy any forces on it. Dispatch of the two AA
guns at the end of the bridge, and circle around. There will be a small
convoy of German recon cars on the opposite side of the river. Destroy
them all to complete a bonus objective. Now head west in order to destroy
the West Bridge. Along the way you should be able to target another
group of Recon cars. Destroy them all to complete another bonus
objective. If you want, you can now begin searching around for German AA
guns in order to complete Secondary Objective #1. Once this is done, or
you decide to not attack the AA guns, head back toward the West Bridge.
You can destroy the Panzers if you want, but it's not necessary, and
attacking them will cause a group of Stukas to appear and aid them.
Bomb and destroy the West Bridge to be taken to another cut scene. After
the cut scene, you will be flying with the other British planes, facing
down a German fighter squadron. Concentrate on the one labeled 'Krieger';
your wingmen will finish off the others. Once all BF-109s and Krieger are
shot down, you have completed the mission.
Mission 2: Adlertarg I
----------------------
Date: August 13, 1940
Suggested Plane: Spitfire.
Suggested Secondary Armament: None allowed.
Primary Objectives: 1) One hangar survives.
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Outgun Lyle.
Walkthrough:
Stranded on the ground, you man the flak gun. Well, make the best of
it. Cycle through targets and concentrate on any incoming Stukas, make
sure to take them out before they get a chance to release their bombs.
Be careful where you aim, too much random shooting will lead to you
accidentally downing a friendly aircraft. If the pace of things becomes
too hectic, use Reflex Time to slow down time. This is great for taking
out the bombers and fighters at a distance. Once all aircraft are down,
you move on to the second part of the mission.
Mission 2: Adlertag II
----------------------
Date: August 13, 1940
Suggested Plane: Whatever you chose in Pt. 1 is automatically selected.
Suggested Secondary Armament: None allowed.
Primary Objectives: 1) One radar station survives.
2)Destroy all Nemesis BF-109s.
Secondary Objectives: 1) Half of Hythe survives.
2) One hangar survives second attack.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Half of New Romney survives.
2) Two radar stations survive.
Walkthrough:
Ah, back into a plane. Once the mission starts, engage the HE111s. The
Spitfire's powerful machine guns should make short work of them. Down
them quickly, because soon a group of Stukas and their fighter support
will show up. Ignore the fighters and concentrate on the bombers. Once
all Stukas have been downed, return to the main fight and down what ever
is left of the BF-109s. Once all hostile planes have been downed, there
will be a rearming cut scene and you will be taken to the second part of
the attack. While it may be tempting to engage the group of fighters
directly in front of you, don't waste time taking down more than 1 or 2,
because the Stukas they are defending begin their attack runs rather
quickly. Make sure to use Reflex Time to slow down time during fights
with fighters, it makes it immensely easier to hit them. Once all targets
are down, a group of Stukas and Nemesis BF-109s will suddenly appear to
the North. Again, ignore the fighters and concentrate on the group of
Stukas. Most of the time you can't get there fast enough to stop them
from bombing their first target, but the Stukas are easy pickings for a
Spitfire once you arrive. Once all Stukas are downed, begin picking off
the BF-109s. Remember to watch your rear in case a plane attempts to
shoot you down from behind. Once all Nemesis BF-109s have been downed,
the mission is over. The two bonus objectives are accomplish by simply
being moderately fast at attacking the bombers, which is easy, as you
should be focusing on them whenever they appear.
Mission 3: Sealion
------------------
Date: September 28, 1940
Suggested Plane: Must use JU-88
Suggested Secondary Armament: Medium Bombs
Primary Objectives: 1) Destroy All Landing Craft
2) Capture the reserve airfield
Secondary Objectives: 1) Destroy the fighter hangars
2) Destroy the bomber hangars
Bonus Objectives: 1) At least one UK destroyer survives.
Walkthrough:
DO NOT DO *ANYTHING* ONCE THIS MISSION STARTS! You must slip quietly
into the bomber group. Firing your guns or peeling away too early will
alert the fighter escorts. Once the fighters peel away, continue to
follow the bombers. Follow their approach path to the runway. Once the
bomber ahead of you lands, the target labels for the hangers will appear,
enabling you to destroy them with bombs. Once the hangars are destroyed,
take out the AA weapons in the area, focusing on the ones stationed near
the Landing Craft. Once the AA guns are taken out, begin dropping your
bombs onto the Landing Craft; make them count, when you go to rearm, you
will be forced to switch aircraft to a BF-109, and the JU-88 is by far
the better bomber. A few of BF-109s will show up, they should be easy
pickings as they will be busy attacking the other JU-88s. When you're
out of bombs or are down to about 25% health, head for the reserve
airfield to rearm. Before you can rearm, you need to destroy the gun
towers around it so the partisans can capture it. If you came with
exceptionally low health, come in low and fast and attempt to take out
the 88mm AA guns around the airfield first, then take care of the gun
towers. Once the gun towers are destroyed, the partisans will begin
raiding the airfield. Defend yourself while they secure it, then land
and switch into a BF-109. After switching, head back to the Landing
Craft and drop all but two of your bombs. Then proceed to head south and
destroy the two fighter hangars to accomplish Secondary Objective #1.
Head back and rearm again, then return and finish off the Landing Craft.
Once the landing craft are destroyed, there will be cut scene involving
Nemesis, and the mission is won.
Mission 4: Rommel
-----------------
Date: Feburary 12, 1941
Suggested plane: Must use Swordfish for first part, must use Spitfire for
second part
Suggested Secondary Armament: Must use torpedos for first part, small bombs
for second part.
Primary Objectives: 1) Destroy the Freighters
2) The White Rose survives.
Secondary Objectives: 1) Sink the Destroyers and U-Boats.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroy the German airbase.
2) Destroy all JU-88 cargo planes.
Walkthrough:
Another mission that will have you cursing if you don't do things right.
Once the mission starts, continue straight and torp the freighter
directly in front of you. Swoop around it, and destroy the one behind it
and to the left; one of your wingmen will take care of the one on the
right. Bank right after destroying the freighter, and you will see one
of your wingmen torp another freighter. Launch a torpedo head on at the
U-Boat, then bank right and destroy the last freighter. Turn and head
back toward the front of the convoy and destroy the destroyer to the
right of White Rose's freighter. Then cut left and quickly torpedo the
last U-Boat to complete Secondary Objective #1. Destroyer the last
U-Boat quickly, because a group of BF-109s will have appeared by then.
Target the plane labeled "BF-109 Leader" and ignore the others. Use the
"Defend Me!" wingman command to keep the others off your back. Once
you have downed the leader, you will see a cut scene in which you land
and switch aircraft. Once you re-enter the action, circle through ground
targets until you get to one that says "Road Block," and is fairly close
to you. Bomb this target first. Circle around and drop another bomb to
finish off the Panzer and Gun Tower near the Road Block. Take out the
nearby AA gun with your guns, then head toward White Rose. Look to your
left and you will notice an airfield. Destroy the hangars to complete
Bonus Objective #1. Around this time a large group of FW-190s will
appear. FOCUS ON THESE! Do not be afraid to use wingmen commands to
call for help. The FW-190's machine guns can shred you in a matter of
seconds, but they have a tissue paper for armor. If you can get them
one on one and avoid flying directly in front of one, you should be fine.
Once you've taken care of the FW-190s, head back to White Rose.
Destroy the tanks, gun towers, and AA guns near her. At this point you
probably need to rearm with more bombs. Head to the Battlehawk's
Airbase, rearm, and then toggle through your ground targets until you get
another one that says "Road Block." Drop two bombs on this, or make two
passes at it, to destroy it and the other targets around it. You have
cleared all the check points for White Rose. At this point, you can head
back and rearm again, or shoot some more AA guns. After rose drives
through most of the town, a group of six recon cars will attack her.
Just strafe the two columns with your machine guns to destroy them
quickly. Rose will now board Pauline's transport. After Pauline takes
off, you will need to escort her transport. Along the way you will
encounter several Junkers with FW-190 escorts returning to their air
base. Destroy the four FW-190s to complete the mission, destroy the four
transports to complete Bonus Objective #2.
Mission 5: Flying Tigers
------------------------
Date: December 23, 1941
Suggested Plane: P-38 Lightning
Suggested Secondary Armament: 37mm cannon
Primary Objectives: 1) Destroy crates
2) Shoot down all Zekes
3) Shoot down all Nemesis planes
Secondary Objectives: 1) Sink all freighters
2) Sink all destroyers
3) Destroy all trucks
Bonus Objectives: 1) Unknown
Walkthrough:
As soon as the mission starts dive and take out the destroyer below you
with your cannons. Then pull up and continue heading toward the docks.
Sink the freighter with cannons, and use your machine guns to destroy the
crates and gun tower. Take out the AA gun behind the docks, then strafe
the escaping truck column to destroy them. Now circle around the harbor
in order to take out the destroyers and accomplish Secondary Objective
#2. Take out the two freighters and the stack of crates still at the
dock. At this point you will most likely need to rearm due to either
flak damage or lack of cannnon rounds. Head to the partisan airfield.
After rearming, head south and take out the two Japanese hangars, this
will prevent any new fighters from appearing. Now head east and destroy
the two truck convoys. If you didn't take out the freighters and crates
after sinking the destroyers earlier, continue to head east and destroy
everything at the docks. After this, hit X to lock onto the nearest
Zeke. Head over and engage any remaining fighters to complete Primary
Objective #2. Head east toward another set of docks. Any destroyers you
did not take out earlier will be here, finish them off. Destroying the
crates on the dock will complete Primary Objectives #1. You will now see
a cut scene during which Pauline is shot down by Nemesis BF-109s. After
the cut scene you will engage these fighters. You and your wingmen out
number the Nemesis planes, and they get split up fairly easily, so you
should not find yourself in any trouble. Use your remaining cannon
rounds to down them fast if need be. Destroy all BF-109s and the mission
is won.
Mission 6: Prison Break
-----------------------
Date: December 31, 1941
Suggested Plane: P-38 Lightning
Suggested Secondary Armament: 37mm cannons
Primary Objectives: 1) Rescue Pauline and the POWs
2) Destroy the POW camp's gun towers and gates.
Secondary Objectives: 1) Stop Japanese pilots from reaching the airfield.
2) Destroy the POW camp HQ.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Sink all destroyers.
Walkthrough:
As soon as the mission starts, accelerate and engage the oncoming Zekes.
The P-38's machine guns should make short work of them. You will now be
taken to a cut scene showing the prison camp, and then a group of
Japanese pilots racing for the airfield. After the cut scene you will be
near the trucks, destroy them to accomplish Secondary Objective #1. Now
head back to the POW camp and begin destroying the remaining targets in
and around it. Destroy the large building in the southeast corner to
complete Secondary Objective #2. Once all gun towers are destroyed and
the gates are open, Pauline and the other POWs will attempt to escape in
a truck. At this time, 3 Japanese destroyers will appear off the coast.
Sink them with cannon rounds to accomplish Bonus Objective #1. Groups of
Zekes will now begin appearing, attemping to attack the truck. Circle
around the truck, destroying anything that attempts to strafe it. Do not
hesitate to use spare cannon rounds to destroy them quicker. After all
planes are downed and the POws make it safely to the airfield, a group of
Nemesis FW-190s will appear. At this time you are probably low on cannon
rounds and health, land at the Japanese airbase and switch into a Zero.
After switching planes, engage the FW-190s. Destroy them and the mission
is accomplished.
Mission 7: Midway I
-------------------
Date: June 4, 1942
Suggested Plane: Must use F4F-3 Wildcat
Suggested Secondary Armament: None allowed.
Primary Objectives: 1) Protect Allied aircraft attacking Japanese carriers.
Secondary Objectives: 1) All Dauntless dive bombers survive.
Bonus Objectives: None.
Walkthrough:
After the opening cut scene, dive and move in behind the Zeke group
directly below you. Shoot down the first few fighters. Take up position
behind the Devastator torpedo bombers, and attack anything that goes near
them. After a while you will be told that the Japanese carriers are
launching fighters. Toggle through your air targets till you get one
near the carriers, or on one of the carriers. Shoot it down, and you
will notice that another Zeke will begin to take off from the carrier.
Shoot the Zekes down as they take off. Eventually they will stop. Now
you have to destroy the Zekes that are sitting on deck on the rear of the
carrier. Once you have destroyed these, repeat the process on the next
carrier. After you have destroyed all the planes on deck, you will be
informed that Allied dive bombers are coming in. All you have to do now
is fly back and forth occasionally strafing the carriers. After a
minute or two, the dive bombers will appear, and the mission is won.
Mission 7: Midway II
--------------------
Date: June 4, 1942
Suggested Plane: Must use F4F-3 Wildcat.
Suggested Secondary Armament: None allowed.
Primary Objectives: 1) Protect Yorktown from attack.
Secondary Objectives: 1) Destroy all attacking Japanese aircraft.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroyer Anderson survives.
Walkthrough:
There are Zekes in front of you as soon as the mission starts, down them
quickly. After a moment flights of both torpedo and dive bombers will
start appearing. As usual, concentrate on the bombers and try to ignore
the fighters. Try to attack the bombers from close to their own
altitude; if you stay mid-altitude the Zekes will engage you while you
try to attack, and you won't be very happy with the results. If you do
torn up by the Zekes, you can return to the Yorktown for repairs, but you
can expect at least some of the Vals or Kates to make it and attack if
you have to land. To accomplish the secondary objective, merely leave
one Kate surviving at the end, then down the remaining Zekes before
finishing off the Kate. Be aware, the other Wildcats will often be very
busy with Zekes, so issuing wingmen commands may not be very effective.
Mission 7: Midway III
---------------------
Date: June 4, 1942
Suggested Plane: None allowed.
Suggested Secondary Armament: None allowed.
Primary Objectives: 1) Defend the Yorktown with AA gun
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Two US destroyers survive.
Walkthrough:
Ah, flash backs to the second mission. Just like in a plane, concentrate
your fire on the incoming bombers. Zooming in using L1 combined with
Slow Down is a very effective combination for taking out planes at long
range, before they get a chance to attack. Though you need to focus on
bombers, keep your ears open for nearby machine gun fire, as it generally
signals one or more Zekes attempting to strafe you. Keep the gun firing
at all times, but be careful of where you aim; Allied ships take damage
from your bullets.
Mission 7: Midway IV
--------------------
Date: June 4, 1942
Suggested Plane: Must use Devastator torpedo bomber.
Suggested Secondary Armament: Must use small bombs.
Primary Objectives: 1) Sink Japanese carrier Hiryu
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroy a Japanese destroyer.
Walkthrough:
Most frustrating portion of the Battle of Midway hands down. Now you get
to feel what it was like for the bombers you were protecting in the first
part. There are two methods you can try to accomplish your mission:
1) Do not stay in formation at the beginning unless you enjoy being
eaten alive by Zekes. Instead, engage the Zekes around you, and when
they are down, proceed to follow the rest of the torpedo bombers. They
will all be destroyed by a cloud of fighters around the carrier. Ignore
this group of fighters when you reach it.
2) Leave throttle on full, use Speed Up Reflex Time, and haul ass for the
carrier, and take your chances with any Zekes from the start of the
mission that don't get downed by the Wildcats.
** From this point out methods are the same ** Accelerate and dive, while
zig zagging back and forth to avoid fire. Approach the carrier from its
long side so you can fly down the whole flight deck dropping bombs.
When the carrier is within bomb range, drop your bombs in the middle of
its deck, where they will do the most damage. Make your bombs count,
there is no rearming. If you didn't sink it on the first pass, circle
around and fly down the length of the carrier again and drop your
remaining bombs. If this doesn't sink the carrier, you might as well
restart, because the mission is now unbeatable. If you work the carrier
down to next to no health and still have three bombs, use two of them to
take out a destroyer and achieve the Bonus Objective.
Mission 8: Denmark
------------------
Date: August 15, 1942
Suggested Plane: Mosquito
Suggested Secondary Armament: 37mm cannon
Primary Objectives: 1) Protect Dr. Bohr
Secondary Objectives: 1) Sink all destroyers
2) Capture Nemesis airbase.
3) Destroy all U-Boats
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroy the train
2) Destroy all recon cars
Walkthrough:
Ignore the patrol boats below you at the start. Head to the bridge, and
begin attacking the tanks with cannon rounds. Bank right, and attack the
recon car cutting across the field. After destroying the recon car, head
back to the road and begin strafing the group of Panzers with your
cannons. I suggest climbing to gain some altitude before attacking the
Panzers; it is very easy to get lost in the clouds of dust while flying
through the trees and crash into the tanks or the ground. After
destroying the tanks, continue on along the road and destroy the gun
tower. A moment after this a group of Nemesis FW-190s will show up, you
should be able to down them easily. After Dr. Bohr reaches the tunnel,
proceed to the other side and destroy the recon car and group of Panzers
waiting for him. Continue down the road and destroy the group of Panzers
that will appear. Continue past them to the bridge, and destroy the two
gun towers there. There will be two patrol boats to the left and right
of the bridge; sink them both with machine gun rounds. A Nemesis FW-190
will now appear and the pilot will challenge you. He will be the only
plane for a bit, so follow the bridge across the river and begin
concentrating on ground targets. Take out the gun tower along the road,
then destroy the tank at the edge of the village with cannon rounds. At
this point, begin toggling through your ground targets, eventually you
will get one that says 'Locomotive." Destroy this train to accomplish
Bonus Objective #1. Circle around and head back to the village, pull up
to gain some altitude while doing so. Begin attacking the Panzers
patrolling the village. Use Slow Down to make your shots more accurate,
the roads here are very narrow, so it is easy to miss and hit a building,
especially if you did not climb while heading back from the train. Cycle
through your ground targets again to find the recon car in the area.
Destroy it to complete Bonus Objective #2. At this point the next group
of FW-190s will arrive; down them, then head back to the river to sink
the two destroyers waiting for Dr. Bohr leave in his boat. When Bohr
arrives at the boathouse, there will be a cut scene, after the cut scene
you will automatically be placed over him. Fly ahead and engage the
small group of FW-190s that appear. After downing them, return to Bohr.
After a few moments, two U-Boats will surface about 4000 feet in front
of him. Accelerate and sink them with your cannons before they get a
chance to fire their guns or launch torpedos at Bohr. After sinking
the U-Boats, accelerate and continue east to engage the Nemesis
aircraft as they take off from their airbase. After taking down the
first group of FW-190s, begin taking out the AA guns around the runway.
Be aware of the pairs and small groups of FW-190s that will begin taking
off every minute or so as they abandon the airfield. Once all AA guns
are destroyed, Pauline will drop the attack team in and they will
commandeer the airbase. At this point two destroyers will appear to the
east; go and sink them with your cannons to accomplish secondary
objective #1. Almost immediately after the destroyers are sunk, another
pair of FW-190s will arrive; one will begin attacking you, the other
will begin strafing the doctor. Take out the one attacking you first, as
you have probably taken some damage at this point, leaving it far more
likely that you will be shot down than Dr. Bohr killed. Once the two
FW-190s are destroyed, two more U-Boats will appear to the east. Destroy
these two subs with your cannons to accomplish Secondary Objective #3 and
win the mission.
Mission 9: Stalingrad
---------------------
Date: January 10, 1943
Suggested Plane: Mosquito
Suggested Secondary Armament: 57mm cannon
Primary Objectives: 1) Soviet forces capture encampment
2) Destroy defense lines
3) Destroy attacking Ju390
Secondary Objectives: 1) Destroy supply train.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroy all AA guns.
Walkthrough:
As soon as the mission starts, engage the tanks in front of you with your
57mm cannon. After destroying the tanks, gun down the two 88mm Anti-Tank
guns with your machine guns (do NOT use cannon rounds, it's a waste of
ammo). After finishing off the 88mm AT guns, destroy the 37mm AA gun and
proceed southwest to the next group of German armor. Again, destroy the
tanks with your cannons and the AT guns and AA gun with your machine
guns. At this point a group of BF-110s will have arrived; engage them.
After destroying the -110s, head back toward the Soviet tank column and
down the flight of Stukas before they reach the tanks. After all the
bombers are destroyed, southeast again to the final German defense line.
Destroy the Panzers (make sure to use Slow Down + Zoom In to make your
rounds more accurate, thus conserving ammo), and then take out the 88mm
AT guns. After the anti-tank guns are destroyed, demolish the 37mm AA
gun behind the building to accomplish Primary Objective #2. At this
point a pair of Panzers will appear about 2400 feet out, heading toward
the Russian T-34s. Destroy them. Now proceed east to the German
airfield and destroy any remaining BF-110s, and the Stukas that will
begin taking off. Around this time you will be informed of a German
train carrying reinforcements nearing the base. The train is located
about 10,000 feet north of the airbase, machine gun it to destroy it and
accomplish Secondary Objective #1. After destroying the train, return to
the airbase and destroy the Stukas that are taking off before they reach
the Soviet base. After destroying the Stukas, eliminate any BF-110s
still in the area, then proceed to take out the AA guns around the air
base. Once the AA guns are destroyed, proceed to the Russian tank group,
as another flight of Stukas will begin attacking them. Down the Stukas,
then destroy and airborne BF-110s. At this point more Stukas and BF-110s
will begin leaving the hangars, destroy them as they taxi to the runways.
Be careful not to shoot any of the bombers in camouflage netting near the
hangars while destroying the Stukas. After all of the planes at the
airbase are destroyed, you will see a cut scene where two Nemesis bombers
and a group of fighters approach the air base. After the cut scene, lock
onto one of the fighters and open fire with both your cannons and your
machine guns. After the bomber goes down, the mission is won.

--------------------------------------------------------
Mission 1: Orientation
----------------------
Date: May 16, 1940
Suggested Plane: Must use Hurricane
Suggested Secondary Armament: None allowed
Primary Objectives: 1) Destroy all balloons over airfield.
2) Land at airfield.
3) Destroy Stuka.
4) Destroy three Stukas.
Secondary Objectives: None
Bonus Objectives: None
Walkthrough:
Cake walk. As soon as the mission begins, just start flying around,
shooting at the balloons. They're huge and stationary, virtually no way
to miss. Listen to Trevor if you want, he just explains the basics of
the various gauges on screen. Once all the balloons are shot down, you
will be instructed to lower your landing gear. Do so, and you will be
taken to a cutscene explaining landing. After the cut scene, land your
plane at the airfield. After the proceeding cut scene, listen to Trevor
babble for a moment. He will then instruct you to down a flaming Stuka
that has just flown into the airspace over the airfield. Once you have
disposed of the flaming Stuka, three more will appear to the northeast.
Destroy them all. Mission accomplished.
Mission 1: Bombing
------------------
Date: May 18, 1940
Suggested plane: Must use Hurricane
Suggested Secondary Armament: Must use Small Bombs
Primary Objectives: 1) Destroy all ammo dumps.
2) Destroy all recon cars.
3) Destroy all AA guns.
4) Destroy all tanks.
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: None.
Walkthrough:
Again, cake walk. Once the mission starts, switch to bombing camera, and
destroy all the dumps. If any part of the bombing reticle is touching
the dump, it will register as a hit. Be careful not to swoop too low, as
you can destroy yourself with bombs if you release them too low. After you
destroy the ammo dumps, you will sit through a tutorial on the use of
Reflex Time. After this you will automatically land and rearm. Once you
are back in the air, Trevor will instruct you to destroy a group of recon
cars over the bridge. They are guarded by mobile AA guns. Ignore the
recon cars for now, and concentrate on the AA guns. Use your guns to take
them out in order to conserve your bombs. Once the AA guns are destroyed,
continue heading East. Destroy the Panzer column using your bombs.
Unless you are very accurate, they will require about two bombs each. Now
go back and finish off the recon cars with your remaining bombs or guns.
Mission 1: Wingman
------------------
Date: May 20, 1940
Suggested plane: Must use Hurricane
Suggested Secondary Armament: None allowed.
Primary Objectives: 1)Issue the Wingman commands to Dadigan in the correct
order.
2)Destroy all JU-87 Stukas.
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: None.
Walkthrough:
Yawn. You don't even get to do anything in the beginning of this mission.
Simply issue the correct commands to Dadigan when told to do so. Once
this is done, some live targets show up. Proceed to engage the Stukas,
they don't fight back and can be downed rather quickly. Now their fighter
support will show up. A few BF-110s will show up and begin attack Trevor.
Destroy them to complete the mission.
Mission 2: Dogfight
-------------------
Date: August 15, 1940
Suggested plane: Must use Hurricane
Suggested Secondary Armament: None allowed.
Primary Objectives: Beat Trevor two times.
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: None.
Walkthrough:
Easier than it sounds. Trevor won't fight back unless you put some space
between the two of you and fly right in front of him. You only have to
hit him 100 times to win a match, so don't worry about ammo conservation.
Get in some quick hits at the beginning when he's flying level, and begin
tailing him closely. The best oppurtunities for a long string of hits
comes when he levels off and begins barrel rolling. If Trevor is out
maneuvering you, lower your air speed so you can turn tighter. Beware,
lowering your air speed too much may cause you to stall. Beat him twice to
beat the Challenge and unlock a Supermarine Spitfire to use. This plane
is much better than the the Hurricane, and will be the best available
plane for a while.
Mission 3: Junkers 88
---------------------
Date: September 11, 1940.
Suggested plane: Must use JU-88
Suggested secondary armament: Must use small bombs.
Primary Objectives: 1) Destroy all bomb targets.
Secondary Objectives: 1) Destroy all bomb targets in less than 4 minutes.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroy U-boat.
Walkthrough:
Easy enough. For this mission you're using a recovered JU-88. It's
nearly identical to the Bombing challenge, though this time you're using
a larger, slower aircraft. Make sure to keep good altitude so you can
dive at the targets for maximum accuracy (this is going to be important).
Once you have destroyed all the targets, a German U-boat will surface.
Destroy it using your remaining bombs to complete the bonus objective.
Beware, if you were not accurate hitting the targets, you will not have
enough bombs left over to sink the sub, and by the time you return from
rearming, it will have submerged again.
Mission 3: Eagles
-----------------
Date: September 15, 1940
Suggested plane: Spitfire
Suggested secondary armament: Doesn't matter; won't use them.
Primary Objectives: 1) Outscore the Eagles.
Secondary Objectives: None
Bonus Objectives: None
Walkthrough:
A little competition. While it's agreed upon that the Hawks will take
the fighters and the Eagles will take the bombers, you can still race to
the bombers and take them out before the Eagles for a quick early lead.
This mission is incredibly easy to be shot down in if you're not careful.
Keep Reflex Time on to slow things down. If you notice you're being shot
from behind, don't hesitate to call for help using the Wingman commands,
or to break off from your current target to engage your attacker. If
things get too crazy, speed up, leave the main fight for a few moments,
and head back in. Don't worry about downing planes, they Eagles are
quite inept at downing fighters. The main challenge here is to not get
shot down.
Mission 4: Swordfish
--------------------
Date: February 2, 1941
Suggested plane: Must use Swordfish.
Suggested secondary armament: Torpedos allowed only.
Primary objectives: 1) Destroy All U-boats
Secondary Objectives:
Bonus Objectives: 1) Sink more U-Boats than Toomey.
Walkthrough:
This mission will more than likely have you pissed off for quite a
while. DO NOT FLY OVER THE GERMAN AIRFIELD AT ANY TIME!! This will
cause the fighters to take off, and your Swordfish is no match for them.
The first group of U-boats is stationary and can easily be picked
off from 3500+ feet away. Once these are sunk, a second group will
appear. Do not rush in and attempt to sink these right away, as they
take quite a while to actually surface after their target label appears.
Toomey will more than likely take care of most of this group even if you
drop torps at them first, so just head for the U-Boat furthest away and
to the left. Once that group is destroyed, another group will appear
about 11,000 feet away near the coast, moving away from the docks. This
group moves fairly fast, so it is hard to hit them with torpedos from
long distance. If you're very good you can lead the target and still hit
them, but you will most likely have to get up close for the kill. Come
in low and near the water, and at about 180 mph. Once you're too a point
at which you know the torps won't miss, release, and either try to hit
one of the other U-Boats, or circle around for another shot. Keep in
mind that the warheads on the torps don't activate for at least 250 feet
after they hit the water. After this group is sunk, you will be able to
target another group of U-boats moored at the docks. The on the right
side can be torped easily, however, the others will require you to take
out the patrol boats at the front of the docks before you can get a clean
hit in. If you can, take out the AA guns to limit the amount of damage
you take. Once the patrol boats blocking the entrances to the docks have
been disposed of, circle around and line up perfectly straight with the
dock entrances to hit the U-Boats. Try and be quick about this; if
you're not fast enough, the fighters will take off and attack regardless
of whether or not you flew over their base.
