Traveling: If you attempt a shot, you have to release it (or pass it) before you land, otherwise you'll be called for traveling. Penalty: Other team gets ball. 2. Backcourt Violation: This means that you crossed the half-court line and then tried to step back across to the other side. Once you cross the line you can't go back or this violation will be called. Penalty: Other team gets ball out of bounds 3. Out of Bounds: You lost ball out of bounds either vertically or horizontally, but either way it means the ball was lost out of bounds or the person with the ball stepped out of bounds. Penalty: Other team gets the ball out of bounds 4. 8 second half-court clock: Once you inbound the ball in the backcourt, you have 8 seconds (it used to be 10) to get the ball onto the other half, otherwise you'll be called for an 8 second half-court clock violation. Penalty: Other team gets ball out of bounds 5. 5 second inbound clock: You have 5 seconds to inbound the ball. If you don't inbound the ball in this time, you will be called for this violation. Penalty: Other team gets ball out of bounds 6. 3 Seconds in the key: If you are in the key (area near the basket) for 3 seconds or more then you will be called for this violation. Penalty: Other team gets ball out of bounds 7. Defensive 3 second violation: On defense, you can't stay in the key more then 3 seconds without guarding an offensive player or else you'll be called for this violation. Penalty: Other team gets one free throw and the ball out of bounds 8. Foul Out: If any player on the court gets 6 fouls in a game they will "foul out" and not be able to play anymore. Penalty: The player that is fouled out cannot play the rest of the game 9. Charging/Blocking: Charging: Charging is if you knock over another player during a dunk, lay-up, or just plain running anywhere on the court. You must be standing completely still for a charge.* *A charge is where your player has to be standing completely still in a set position (holding L1) OUTSIDE of the half circle that is in the key, a players foot may not be on that line if you want a charge. If it is the call will be a blocking foul. Penalties: A CHARGING FOUL IS AGAINST THE OFFENSE, while a BLOCKING FOUL IS AGAINST THE DEFENSE. A foul is called against the player who committed the foul. In a charging situation, the ball is turned over, in a blocking call, the opposing team gets two free throws (one if the shot went in) or gets pocession of the ball if the charging foul occured away from the basket. 10. Reaching In Foul: When a player is attempting to steal the ball he can only touch the ball. If the player touches any other part of the opponent, then, you'll be called for reaching in. 11. Pushing: When you push another player it's called an "intentenal foul". If your team is down by 1 with 5 seconds to go and the other team has the ball you need to push him to stop the clock. But it is a violation. Penalties: 1. Other team gets ball. 2. Foul will be called against the player. 3. two Free Throws if you're over the foul limit. 12. Shooting Foul: If a player who's attempting a block touches anything but the ball, he is called for this foul. Penalties: A foul is called against the player who did it. The player fouled gets two free throws or one if his shot went in the hoop anyway. 13. Goaltending: After a shot is released you can't touch it before it touches the rim. If you do you will be called for this violation. Note: It can be called on both offense and defense so be careful... Penalty: The shot counts 14. Shot Clock: This violation means that the ball did not hit the rim within 24 seconds of you getting it in-bounded. You must shoot the ball and have it hit rim before the 24 second clock gets to 0. Penalty: Other team gets the ball out of bounds ---------------------- 8c. Codes and Secrets ---------------------- All of the codes from 2K2 have been confirmed to work in 2K3. Questions -------------- Ggoma928 asks: Who is better Kobe Bryant or Tracy Mcgrady? This is a very arguable subject. Many people will say it's T-MAC, others will say it's Kobe. Statistically Tracy Mcgrady is the better player. He avereges more points, rebounds, and assists per game than Kobe Bryant and his team is playing better then the Lakers, too. My personal pick: T-mac is the better overall player. In the NBA 2K3: Kobe Bryant. kaneloBoY5 asks: What does NBA stand for?
