Thank you for reading this guide. This is a guide that will help you get 
through the game from beginning to end. The Training section will not cover 
everything because that info is in the instruction manual. I have decided to 
cover the items that I feel are important. Some of the info that is missing 
are item descriptions, Equipment Stats, and Talisman Combinations. I would 
like to have a full list in this guide so if people want to help out, just 
pick one Talisman as a starting one and combine it with all of the others. If 
it is destroyed then don't worry about it. I have a partial equipment list. If 
you have the info for a piece of Equipment, just send it to me and I will 
place your name in the credits. Throughout the Walkthrough there will be no 
boss tips. I will provide the info but it's up to you to determine how you 
want to take on the boss. I have already played this game enough and I will 
update a little at a time.

|                                Exploration                                 |

Exploration in Magna Carta is simple because of the Linearity of this game. 
Make sure that when you are in towns and in the field you are looking for 
chests and people. Occasionally you may find items that aren't on the map or 
in a chest. Those items are usually shown by a sparkle. When you are in the 
field there are three modes. Those are Detect Mode, Dash Mode and Rest Mode. 
While on the battle maps you can switch between Dash and Detect Modes by 
pressing the R1 button. If you press the square button you will be in rest 
mode.

|     Detect Mode     |
o---------------------o
This is the mode that you will want to be in when you are looking for monsters 
or treasure on the map. The advantage of being in Detect Mode is that you have 
a wider range of vision. On the maps, people will appear as a yellow dot, 
chests appear as a white dot, and monsters will be a red dot. In addition to 
seeing the monsters you can also see their field of vision. Battles are 
initiated when the enemy sees you or if you can get behind the enemy and slash 
them using the X button. You will know that you are in range of an enemy 
because they will turn red.

|     Dash Mode       |
o---------------------o
This is a faster way of getting around but it's not recommended for fighting 
because of the small range of vision. If an enemy spots you in this mode or 
rest mode you will be caught by surprise. Only use this mode after you have 
cleared an area of monsters.

|     Rest Mode       |
o---------------------o
Press the square button to get into this mode. The reason that you want to 
rest is if your Hit Points are depleted. Only rest when there are no enemies 
around otherwise you will be susceptible to a Surprise Attack.

|                                What is Chi?                                |
O============================================================================o
Chi is the force all around you in the world of Magna Carta. Chi influences 
how powerful certain attacks are for both you and the enemy. One thing about 
Chi is that it is universal meaning that it is always the same no matter what. 
When you attack in Magna Carta you will use the X button (Yin) and the O 
button (Yang) to perform moves. You press the correct buttons on the Trinity 
Circle as it goes around. Here is the Chi in the world of Magna Carta;

Remember these button combinations because these will be helpful later in the 
game. Whenever you enter an area, it will have a certain level of Chi. For the 
purposes of this guide I have used the following conversion;

+0 No Chi     +1 1/3 Chi     +2 2/3 Chi     +3 Maximum Chi

Remember to take note of the available Chi in a new area when deciding which 
characters to use. If you are at a disadvantage when you reach a new area, you 
can always change the Chi Lanterns using Talismans. The Lanterns are usually 
that of a Chi that is at it's maximum. When you change a Chi Lantern, the Chi 
that the lantern was will be reduced by 1 and the new Chi will increase by 1. 

i.e. If the Celestial Chi in the area is +3 and the Lightning Chi in the area 
     is +1 with a Celestial Lantern. Place a lightning Talisman in the lantern 
     and the Lightning Chi will increase to +2 while the Celestial Chi will 
     decrease to +2. Beware though because if you place a Chi that contradicts 
     the Chi of the lantern then the lantern will be destroyed. Here is a list 
     of Contradictory Chi.

|                                 Fighting                                   |
O============================================================================o
Once you have engaged in battle, you need to take note of a couple of things. 
There is the Leadership Meter, The Chi, and the Trinity Drive. The main thing 
is the Leadership Meter. In Magna Carta you will notice two meters in the top 
right hand corner. These are the Leadership meters and one is for you while 
the other is for the enemy. As the meters go up you will see an arrow. When 
the meter reaches the arrows then you can act. Everyone shares the same 
Leadership meter and only one person can go at a time. The meter will only go 
up when you are standing still. This goes for the enemies as well. If you are 
moving then the meter will not increase. Some people think that this is stupid 
but actually it's the same as any other RPG except that you have the freedom 
to choose who attacks. 

When you are in a battle, you want to use the time that the enemies meter is 
charging to situate your fighting group. A good strategy is to place a healer 
in the back and someone with High HP up front. You can switch the active 
character by pressing the R1 or L1 button. An easier but slower way is to 
press the triangle button to bring up the menu and then switch the active 
characters while the action is stopped.

|    Trinity Drive    |
o---------------------o
The Trinity Drive is a way of doing more damage during the fight. To increase 
the Trinity Drive you must get three Greats when doing an attack. When this 
happens the Trinity Drive will increase by 5%. The fastest way to increase the 
Trinity Drive is to do combos. A combo can increase the Trinity Drive from 
between 20% and 30%. You must be careful though because if you miss time the 
button presses, the gauge will return to 0%. You can activate the Trinity 
Drive by pressing the square button before you perform an attack. This can 
only be done when the Trinity Drive is at 30% or more.

|    Trinity Circle   |
o---------------------o
The Trinity Circle will spin when you do an attack. When performing a normal 
attack you will see the first button. After you press the button the circle 
will spin. Press the correct button when it reaches the empty circle at the 
top. If it is a perfect hit you will see the word Great. The others are Good, 
Miss and Fail. A Fail or a Miss will result in the move failing and the 
Trinity Drive being reduced to 0%. One thing about the Trinity Circle is that 
it spins at different speeds depending on the style. The better the style the 
faster the circle spins.

|                                  Styles                                    |
O============================================================================o
A Style is the way a certain character fights. Each style is unique and use 
different Chi. You can equip up to three styles at once. When you first obtain 
a style you will only have one move available. To perceive a new move, you 
must use the move below it and get Greats on all three button presses. Once 
you have perceived a new move it is yours for good. After you have perceived 
all of the moves for a particular style you will master that style. One thing 
you must know about attacking is that even though you may know all of the 
moves for a style, you still must do them from the lowest to highest. If you 
fail at any point during a battle you will have to start over. To learn a new 
style you must use a style scroll. These scrolls can be found by defeating 
bosses or by passing Dojo Tests. Dojos can be found throughout the world of 
Efferia. They will not be present at the start of the game, but when you 
return to areas that you have been to previously you will see a Dojo Trainer 
on the map. They are not difficult to find. Just look for the yellow dot 
indicating a person.

For the various styles there are three modes, Standard, Combo and Counter 
Mode. You can only use Combo and Counter modes once you have mastered that 
style. To switch between modes wait until the Leadership meter reaches the 
arrow and then press down using the D-pad. This doesn't cost count as an 
attack so you can switch modes and then switch to another character.

|    Standard Mode    |
o---------------------o
Standard Mode is the most basic mode but it provides the most protection 
because of the shield. If you look at your characters HP bar in battle you 
will notice dots underneath the life bar. These represent the shield. The 
number of shields will reduce the damage done by physical attacks for each 
hit. Some enemies have attacks that hit many times but at least you won't take 
full damage if you are in this mode. One thing that you must know is that 
magic and projectile attacks bypass the shields defenses. Keep this in mind 
when fighting enemies.

|      Combo Mode     |
o---------------------o
This is a mode that once mastered can be used to do many hits. The advantage 
to using Combo Mode is that you can tear through an enemy's shield. The bad 
thing is that while in this mode you have no shields yourself therefore you 
are susceptible to more damage. One thing that I use combo mode for is to 
increase my Trinity Drive. The way a combo works is simple. Once you have 
mastered all of the abilities you can use it. The main problem that people 
have trouble with is starting the combo. Here is the secret.

Example: Let's say that you have mastered the Fuget Style for Calintz. When 
         you activate Combo Mode and attack the enemy you will have a normal 
         ring.

1. Input the first attack on his list "Rush Blade"     X O O
2. After inputting the commands successfully, you will go into Crazy Mode. All 
   that Crazy Mode is all of the attacks in that style being used one after 
   another. Before you press the first button during Crazy Mode, WAIT until 
   the circle goes around one time and then start your button presses.

I recommend using Combos to finish off bosses or to build up your trinity 
drive. If you are relying on this all game then you will find yourself in bad 
shape near the end of the game.

|    Counter Mode     |
o---------------------o
This is the best mode out of the three because with it you can deal the most 
damage to enemies. When you first get this mode you will think it is useless 
because you have to guess the Chi that an enemy is using. This is far from the 
truth and once you have a healer, it becomes easy. While you are in counter 
mode, the Leadership Meter will not decrease at all and the enemy will have no 
shields when you are successful. Later in the game you will fight a monster 
with 8 shields. Counter the enemy attack and it will have 0 shields. If you 
miss a counter it will reduce the Trinity Drive to 0%. The counter attack will 
always be the attack that is selected meaning that you have to be successful 
in the lower attacks to get to the better ones. Remember how Chi is universal 
(Check the What is Chi section); this applies to an enemy as well.

i.e. If you are fighting an enemy that is using a short ranged Earth Attack 
     then you will counter with X X X (Earth Chi). 

Here are a few tips that will help you become better at countering:

1. To use a counter you must be in Counter Mode.
2. The Character that you want to counter must be selected. If you are in 
   Counter Mode when an enemy attacks you but you don't have that character 
   selected, you will be hit.
3. When an enemy attacks, three circles with ? will spin. Just like in Combo 
   Mode, wait until the first circle goes back to the starting point before 
   pressing the buttons.

The Ultimate Countering Tip
****************************
Most enemies have only a few moves ranging from short range to long range. If 
an enemy has two short range moves it will be difficult to read the Chi. While 
it may seem like a guessing game the enemy actually is giving itself away when 
he attacks. No, I am not talking about the Chi flash. That happens when the 
enemy attacks. I am talking about the Leadership Meter for the enemy. 

Lets say the an enemy has two attacks, one for Earth and one for Mountain Chi. 
Let it hit you (or guess) with one of its attacks. For this situation it will 
be the Earth Attack. Now that you know that it has done an Earth Attack, watch 
the Leadership Meter for the enemy. When the bar reaches the turn marker for 
the enemy, the Trinity Ring to counter will come up almost immediately or the 
bar will continue past a bit. If it goes past then the enemy is going to use 
its other Chi Attack. It is difficult to be 100% but once you know what to 
look for you will be pretty close.

Another tip is to look for a telegraphed attack. Some enemies will turn their 
back on you before performing a certain Chi attack or they will step back. A 
step back usually indicates a longer range. If an enemy has only one Short-
range attack then it should be pretty easy to counter.

a. The game begins at the Headquarters of the Tears of Blood. Walk around to 
   familiarize yourself with the place and collect all of the items here. 
   After speaking to Haren, Azel and Eonis, General Agreian will call you. You 
   can speak to him using the Communication Sphere.

c. Leave the Headquarters area and you will be taken to Mt. Aremori. Collect 
   all of the items in this camp area and take a look at what the merchants 
   hold. You can also get your fortune told here.

d. After getting ready at the camp, you will start your first mission on the 
   mountain itself. You must buy time for the mages to use the forbidden 
   magic. Make sure that you walk around in Detect Mode otherwise you will be 
   surprised every time. You will want to increase trust with your party right 
   now.

e. After speaking to General Tazma, make sure that you switch to Detect Mode. 
When you reach a Chi Lantern part of the way up the mountain. Use a Talisman 
to change the Chi in an area.

f. After speaking to Agreian, move forward and you will find yourself at the 
   Magic Circle. The enemies are a bit tougher but the main thing is that you 
   need to get all of the items in this area because you will never come back 
   here. Talk to the Alliance soldiers only if you are ready to advance the 
   story.

g. Speak to the Alliance Soldiers. After watching the story unfold you will 
   have to fight a boss. The battle will end when you do damage to one of the 
   Blast Worms. If you die in this battle then the game ends. I used this 
   battle to master styles. If you can get the Blast Worms to attack you then 
   you can master the styles.

h. After the battle with Orha head back to the base of operations. Before you 
   do that you can build trust by talking to your party members.

   Steelheart is defeated Calintz will find himself in the cave. Before you 
   fight Steelheart, change the Chi Lantern to Celestial.

a. Following the battle with Steelheart, Calintz will find himself in a cave 
   alone. You will meet Reith. You and Reith must escape the cave to reach 
   Lester. Before you do that Save your game and talk to Reith.

   the path and continue until you reach two Blast Worms. Defeat them and then
   proceed to the exit of the cave.
