5.24 Dark Energy Index

You can build up dark energy in one of 4 ways.


Method one: End the map by purifying a portal... the stream MUST kill all
of the enemies without causing a miracle... This will net 1% corruption for
every length in the chain you had (I got 160% in one shot by accident... a
perfectly set up triple exp white/white/lightbluex3/green multi miracle).

Method two: You kill your own teammate, you get moderate % (10 per murder)
corruption at the end of the map.

Method three: You complete the Rosen Shop quiz that increases the dark energy
on the next map you play (see section 7.70 and 7.71) this gives extreme %
(30-45 per quiz) corruption on the next map you play once you finish that map.

Method four: Pay ~10,000 for a present at a Rosen Store... This will add
50 to the dark energy index percent.


Once the corruption reaches or exceeds 100% a portal to the neitherworld opens 
and you can enter it.  The max corruption is 300%.

The map image will be "snowy" and you will notice a new swirling area
when you enter it... Enter into this to goto the dark world.

IMO, since their is NO downside to killing human teammates (killing monsters
will drop their happiness rate) that makes it the fastest and cheapest method
by far to raise the dark energy index.

Their is no difference to the power of the portal monsters with regard to
the map or chapter you are on... They are based off of two things.

One: The dark energy index 100-300%.
Two: If you have completed any stronger monsters rosen surveys.

Occassionally a dark portal will appear (bug) on a map that has NO dark
energy index built up... this will always be a LOW level enemy dark portal
and is NOT worth your time to go into. (example it happens occassionally on
the The Gods' Ordeal level)

5.25 Dark Gates

Upon stepping on one of these black swirling circle gates you will be asked
if you wish to continue onward... Select YES and you are stuck until you
reach the 10th floor of that hell dimension or you die.

Enemies here are far more powerful than those you would encounter on the
regular map, but so too are the rewards.

Successfully clear every floor and you can expect a NICE payday upon clearing
the tenth floor, not to mention the experience.

Unfortunatly you cannot recruit these powerful gate monsters to your cause,
but you can milk them of their powerful items by purifying them.

Hawaina's being the only exception to the above rule.

While in these places of horror and wonder, you will see that enemies are
listed as...

Enemy Character ---> Cannot be recruited.
Demon -------------> Typically has one peice of equipment; cannot be recruited.
Higher Demon ------> Typically has two peices of equipment; cannot be 
                     recruited.
Demon Lord --------> Typically has three peices of equipment; cannot be 
                     recruited,

6.10 General Magic Spells

These are abilities which anyone can obtain. Though equipment.  Monsters
may also have these from their initial element.

Basically most of these come through the staves section, a fire staff would 
give fire spells for example.  This is because staves typically have
elemental alignment to them... However, any equipment that has enough
elemental power can be used to learn these spells.

See section 6.12 for levels and alignment required to learn a level of spell.


From Blue ------- Cold magic.

Cool -----------> Damage target with the power of ice. ------ 4 sp.
Mega Cool ------> Damage target with the power of ice. ------ 15 sp.

you lose slightly less than 35% of the effect... So in order to maintain

five cast (100%) max cap.

6.11 Spell Levels

Here are what area of effect spells have when they reach certain levels.

Note that a spell will retain all previous area of effect, just select
whichever one best suits your needs before you cast the spell.

Each area increase will cost more mana.  To rotate the area being affected

6.12 Magical Alignment - How to learn spells


Items can come aligned with the various elements similar to their spells,
You can learn magic from ANY kind of equipment; however, staves are typically
geared more specifically to elemental alignments.


Red ---------> Fire
Blue --------> Cold
Green -------> Wind
Yellow ------> Lighting
Light Blue --> Healing
Purple ------> Status
White -------> Holy


They will help your attacks if weapons, or afford you some relief from
attacks of that type if armor.

In this way you can learn magic... To learn magic you require a specific
character level and specific alignment number.


Fire, Wind, and Ice (Red, Green and Blue respectivly)

However, here is the catch... the spells are at level 0 when you get them
from equipment and are NOT permant either... To make these spells more
permant you must first use them often enough until their level reaches 1.

Once they reach level 1 they are yours forever, this means you are no longer
dependant on the equipment to cast that spell.

In this way, given enough time, you can learn every spell their is to know
in the game.  Of course I would recommend that you try to simply learn a
handful of spells... Far better to be a master of some, than a master of none.

6.20 Permant/Constant Special Abilities

Lot of thanks to RenamonFOX for contributing a LOT of these.

These are automatic abilities which have a constant effect on whatever
character has them.  Anyone can obtain them. (RIB = randomly in battle).

I will list them as the weakest form to the strongest form that you can have.

As you get a new better one it will replace the previous incarnation,
to the right is how high you must raise the LEVEL (Rank) of a particular stat 
to unlock the ability.

Purification ones are limited to main characters.  Monsters that you recruit
CANNOT obtain these bonuses.
