Haven: Call Of The King - Strategy Guide (Page 06)

Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Haven: Call Of The King - Strategy Guide (Page 06).

----------------------
GET YOUR MAG-BALL BACK
----------------------

Go forward and around the corner. Jump over the pipe, but watch out
for the fire spewing from it.

Note: To smash pots, do Shield Smashes on them. Just make sure they
don't have spikes on the lid, or they will hurt.

Go left and jump over the pipe. Run past the Shielded Pot and the
Spiky Pot and turn the corner to find another pipe. This one has a
Shield that disappears periodically. Wait for it to disappear and
then jump over. Follow the path and jump another pipe with a Shield.
You'll come to a door. Go through it.

***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(First)***

In this room are five turbines with platforms. At the other end is
a door. Jump across the platforms to get to the door.

Note: Don't fall in the turbines! If you fall off a platform, there
is an elevator platform on the floor below. It is close to the
       entrance.

When you get to the other, step through. In this next room, the floor
will hurt you if you touch it. There are purple pads with gold
particles rising from them. (I call these "Rising Pads.") These pads
are placed throughout the room. Use them to transport Haven safely
through the room. Jumping to the first pad, you will notice Haven is
periodically pushed upward, like he is swimming. Hold down the (X)
button when you are floating over one of these pads. Haven will
descend and touch the pad. When he does, he will be pushed upward.
Use this momentum to glide safely to the next pad. (Remember, try
not to touch the floor.) Then, repeat this process until you get to
the other door.

Glide to the scaffolding next to the door and step through to the next
room.

***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(Second)***

This room has a pool that is filled with floating mines. Jump in the
pool and surface crawl around the floating mines to the other door.
When you get there, jump out of the water and step through.

In this next area, there are two paths. One is blocked by blue
Energy Beams. You must disable them to pass to the next area. To
do that, run to the right.

Now, you'll run into two red lasers that slide back and forth over the
floor. They slide to the middle of the path and stop together. Then,
a Shield goes up. After that, the red lasers slide apart. Wait until
the lasers slide apart, double-jump over the first and then run under
the shield, double-jumping over the next laser.

Note: You must make sure to start your jumps early when jumping the
red lasers - they will kill you in one hit, if you're not
       careful.

When you make it past the lasers, turn left to find a sliding grid of
red lasers blocking the path. It will slide at you and then back to
the wall. Follow the grid as it slides back to the wall. Then,
quickly turn right as you reach the end of the corridor.

You will find a switch. Pull it to turn off the blue lasers. Now,
to get back, wait for the red laser grid to slide toward you. Stand
off to the side as it does. When it touches the wall of the corridor,
it will pause. Use this time to run down the corridor safely.

Jump over the two sliding red lasers and make your way to where the
blue laser beams used to be. Step on the elevator.

Haven will be taken to a room with giant red tubes and a bunch of
floating mines. You can see to space through the big windows. There
is a Pot Bot in the middle of the room (watch out!). All you really
need to do here is turn right and head past the red tube and through
the door.

Haven will be back in the pool room, only this time, he's higher up.
There are 3 scaffoldings with vegetation. Jump to the second
scaffolding to find a Glass Shield Pad. (You will need the Glass
Shield for the next room.)

With your Glass Shield acquired, grab some Shild Energy to keep it
functional and jump across the final scaffolding to the door. Pass
through the door to find a room filled with Giant Tesla coils that
shoot electricity at you. Follow the path of Shield Energy picking
up as much of it as you can to keep the Glass Shield going. Make
your way quickly to the back of the room where you will find a ramp.
Head up the ramp and through the door.

Note: If you lose your Glass Shield, the electrical charges will
become impassable, and Haven will bite the big one.

***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(Third)***

This next room is filled with a bunch of various nasty pots -
including a Pot Bot. This room also has 3 guards. Run down the
ramp and weave your way through the room, first going left and then
circling right around the cylinders and then going straight. Be
sure to avoid the guards, as you don't have a Mag-Ball.

Pass through the door at the back of the room to enter the Prison
Cell Room. (This is where Haven was held prisoner.) At the far
left corner of the room is the cell with Haven's Mag-Ball. Run to
it.

Note: The grates on the floor are electrically charged and will hurt.

Do a Shield Smash on the Power Stick next to the cell. Energy will
be taken away from the Power Stick and the shield on the cell will
dissapate. Step in the cell to get your Mag-Ball back.

------------
IT'S GO TIME
------------

With your Mag-Ball safely in your hands, you can now open all the
other cells in the room to gain various power-ups. Use the Rapid-
Fire Cannon (Blue) in one of the cells to destroy four guns in the
area.

When you're ready to leave, you'll notice that in the middle of one
of the walls is a Mag-Ball Grind. Jump up to it. There is no pad,
so you must walk under the Grind until purple particles rise around
Haven. Now jump up and press (S) to use your Mag-Ball. Haven's
Mag-Ball will latch on to the grind, and he will travel to the next
room.

In this room, the floor has a giant red grid. Don't fall! To
navigate this room, Haven must ride the many platforms. (There is
a Shield Dragon Pot next to the door, but don't worry about it
because you don't really need it.)

So, step on the first moving platform and ride it to the elevator
in the center of the room. Ride the elevator up and turn around
to find another moving platform. Step on that and ride it to a
stationary platform filled with 4 Bomb Pots, and Standard Pot, and
an Energy Spinner.

Get the Bomb Pots to explode and walk past the Energy Spinner to
see two moving platforms. Jump across those to the stationary
platform with an Acid Pot, two Bomb Pots, a Flaming Weapon Pot,
and two Standard Pots. Go past the Acid and Bomb Pots with your
Energy Shield deployed.

Note: You can lead the Shield Dragon to this platform and have him
break the Flaming Weapon Pot. Use the Laser Shot (yellow)
power-up to destroy the floating mines below.

Step on the moving platform and ride it to the elevator in the center.
There are two floating mines there.

Ride the elevator down and step on another moving platform. Ride it
across to a stationary platform with two Flaming Pots. Go right to
find two moving platforms littered with floating mines. Jump across
them to the next stationary platform.

Note: Stay close to the wall to avoid the floating mines.

On the next stationary platform is a floating mine. Behind this are
three Standard Pots blocked by a bunch of Fire and Bomb Pots. Jump
over the fire and Bomb Pots and step on the moving platform to get
to the elevator in the center of the room.

Ride the elevator up and step on the next moving platform to ride
to a stationary with 5 floating mines and Standard Pot. Head to
the right and jump across two moving platforms (grabbing Catana as
you go) to get to the final stationary platform.

Here, you'll find 3 Flaming Pots and a corridor with a Mag-Ball
Grind. Jump up and deploy your Mag-Ball to grind to the next area.

In this room, the floor has little blue sparkly dots on it. The
door at the other end is locked. You must unlock it. On the
ceiling are five globes. When you step on the floor, a giant ball
of electricity will follow you around.

Note: The giant ball of electricity will hurt you if it touches you,
so keep moving. It will follow you. But as long as you keep
       moving, it won't hurt you.

You must lead the electricity ball under each one of the five globes
to unlock the door. To do this, start at the right side of the
floor and run zigzag across the floor, leading the electricity ball
under each globe. (When you lead it successfully under a globe, you
will hear a "whoosh" sound.)

When you do this, you will hear a chime sound and the door will
open. Step through.

***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(Fourth)***

The next room has giant green tubes and 3 guards in it. Run through
to the door.

In this next room, there is a catwalk littered with all sorts of
nasty pots. Follow the catwalk carefully (Don't fall off and onto
the red grid - it hurts). Take out two shielded guards as you go.

Note: Use your Energy Shield to get past all the Bomb and Fire Pots.

Jump into the corridor to find a Power Stick and a Mag-Rider.
Charge the Power Stick and grab on to the Mag-Rider to be taken to
the end of the corridor. Go right and pull the switch. Now, drop
down to the floor below and pass through the door. The next room
just has some Fire and Acid Pots. Just run through it to the next
room.

------
5 COGS
------

Now you must find 5 Cogs to refuel the escape pod.

First: This room is filled with red smoke. Go to the left, around
the giant cylinder. Jump over the row of 4 Fire Pots and head
straight. You'll pass 6 scattered Fire Pots. Before passing
through the door and into the next room, go left and around
some more cylinders to find two Standard Pots and a Cog!

Second: Pass through the room with red smoke and into the next.
You'll find a purple "Rising Pad" next to the door. Ride it
up to a balcony and pass through the door. In this room, look
to the right and you'll see a Weapon Pot behind 2 Acid Pots
and 2 Standard Pots. Strike the Weapon Pot to get a Five-Way
(purple) power-up. Next, run and follow the scaffolding path,
blowing up any bad pots in your way. You'll come to a turbine
with a rotating bar. Jump to the rotating bar and edge to the
center of the turbine to get a Cog!

Third: After getting the Second Cog, from the turbine, jump back to
the scaffolding and jump left across the gap to get to the
other door. Pass through this door to enter the Docking Bay.
Next to the Control Panel is a Cog!

Fourth: After picking up the Third Cog, backtrack to the room with the
purple "Rising Pad" and drop down to the lower level, where
the pad is. Round the corner and run through the area with
the Robotic Flying Bugs. By the other door is a Cog!

Fifth: After grabbing the Fourth Cog, pass through the door and into
the Fuel Chamber. There is a Blinking Pot next to the door,
but don't hit it because off to the left a Cog! (If you
strike the Blinking Pot, Acid and Bomb Pots will appear around
         the Cog - very annoying.)

With all 5 Cogs collected, in the Fuel Chamber, head over to the Control
Panel and press the square (S) button to begin refueling the Escape Pod.
You must follow the button sequence indicated by Haven's HUD to
successfully refuel the Escape Pod.

-------
ESCAPE!
-------

When you're finished refueling the escape pod, Haven accidentally
triggers the auto-destruct sequence (oops). You have 60 seconds to
make it to the Docking Bay and escape. Good luck!

Just kidding! (I wouldn't leave you hanging) . . . Head back through
the door and run across the room. Round the corner to find purple
"Rising Pad" by the door. Ride it up to the balcony and pass through
the door. In this next room, head left and follow the scaffolding
past the turbine, jumping across the gap. Pass through the next door
to enter the Docking Bay. Run to the Escape Pod in the center of the
room.

Note: Handy green lights will help guide you during this mayhem.

Whew! Haven escaped - but how do you fly the Escape Pod again?

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OPTIONAL: SILVER KEYS & RUNESTONE
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Silver Keys

First: In the room with the turbines and the floating platforms
(near the beginning of the level), if you drop down to the
floor below and run to the other side of the room, you
will find a Shield Dragon Pot. Break it and lead the
Dragon back to the elevator platform. Ride it up, then
step on to the ledge and jump to the first raising
platform. Deploy your Energy Shield and the Dragon will
         follow.

Note: If you have your Energy Shield deployed and your are on a
platform, the Shielded Dragon will follow the movement of
       the platform.

Now, jump to the next set of platforms (there are 2 here
that rotate). Deploy your Energy Shield, and the Dragon
will follow. To lead the Dragon to the third platform,
step to the very outer edge of the platform you are on and
lead the Dragon as close to the third platform as you can.
Now, release your Energy Shield. The Dragon will stay
         where you left him.

Jump to the third paltfoprm (the rising one) and deploy
your Energy Shield (you might have to step to the very
outer edge of that platform) so the Dragon will join you.

Okay, here is the tricky part. The third and fourth
platforms are just far enough apart that the Dragon will
not follow you when you jump. So, you must leave the
Dragon halfway between (in the space between the third and
fourth platforms) briefly. To do that, ride the third
platform to the top of its run and with your Energy Shield
deployed, step off (don't jump) toward the fourth platform.
Then, immediately release your Energy Shield so that the
Dragon follows you out, but continues hovering above.

Note: Don't release your Energy Shield too late here, or the
Dragon will follow you down to the floor below and you'll
       have to start over.

Now, run back to the raising elevator platform at the
start of this area. Ride it up and leap across all the
platforms until you get to the fourth one. When you reach
it, deploy your Energy Shield and the Dragon should join
         you.

Okay, so jump to the door and deploy your Energy Shield
again. The Dragon will join you but get sucked into one
of three nearby Fire Pots. Break the Fire Pots to get him
back and him into the next room where you'll find two
Flaming Pots by the door. The second one has a Silver
         Key! (WHEEEW!)

Second: In the room with the pool that has all the floating mines,
jump in the water. Surface crawl to the right to a
platform with 2 Standard Pots and a Shielded Pot. Jump up
and do a Shield Smash on the Shielded Pot to get a Silver
         Key!

Third: After getting your Mag-Ball back, backtrack to the
previous room (the one with the 3 guards). Knock out all
3 guards with your Mag-Ball and the last one to go down
         will drop a Silver Key!

Fourth: In the room after the electrical floor (the one with green
tubes), you'll find 3 guards. Knock them all out with
your Mag-Ball and they will drop a Silver Key!

Fifth: In the room after the one with all the red smoke, you will
find a room with Flying Robotic Bugs. Shoot them all down
and last one will drop a Silver Key!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Opening the Rune Pot

In the room with all the red smoke, weave through two pillars to
the right. Back behind them is a Bomb Pot, a Standard Pot, and the
Rune Pot. With all 5 Silver Keys collected, break it to get a
Runestone!

Haven must now guide the escape pod to the planet below while avoiding
burning parts of the fallen space station Sylex. You don't have a
weapon here, so you're main objective is just to stay alive. Bits of
debris will fly at you. It would be beneficial to avoid them.

Note: Your Shield Energy meter (blue) shows the shields for the Escape
Pod. Don't let it run out!

Tip: You can easily avoid all debris by just circling around the
       perimeter of the screen.

Haven will land in a lake and meet Will & Chill on Exarco!

Will will pilot the train. You must protect the train. As with
previous levels like this, your Shield Energy Meter shows the strength
of the train. When you target something, the target will be green, and
as you damage it, the crosshair will turn red.

On to the fun! First thing, about six small ships will fly at you
(they go down in one hit each).

Then, a Bug pops up and starts to attack. The Bug flies around in a
circle and launches missiles at you. Focus on taking the Bug out as
fast as you can.

Next, another wave of small ships will fly at you.

Then, four tiny gold flies will come at you and drop little bombs on
you. Take them out because they won't go away!

This is followed by a wave of 4 more tiny gold flies. After that, a
Bug stops in front of you and hovers.

Then, a wave of small ships comes at you, followed by 3 waves of 4
tiny gold flies each.

Then, more ships fly at you. Immediately after this, 2 Bugs pop up to
say hi. (Here, focus on destroying one Bug at a time to make this
easy.)

After the Bugs, more missiles come.

Then, the train will enter a tunnel, and it's off to the Hatching
Ground!

Haven must collect eggs during the day and defend them from the Xenos
at night so they can hatch in the morning.

---
DAY
---

***RUNESTONE ALERT!!!***

To collect eggs, run to the landing pad in the center of the Hatching
Ground. Press the square (S) button to get in the Hoverplane. Now
fly over the walls of the Hatching Ground and pick up eggs with the
plane.

Your HUD acts as a radar and will show yellow dots which indicate where
eggs are. Use this to help you.

Note: Notice the sun icon on top of your HUD? This indicates how much
time is left before nightfall. The closer it is to the right,
       the sooner night will come.

To pick up an egg with the Hoverplane, simply fly over it. The plane
will automatically take the egg. Now, fly back into the Hatching
Ground over one of the 8 blue pools. Once you do that, the egg will
be placed in the pool. Repeat this process until you have collected
at least 4 eggs before dusk.

Note: Try to collect as many eggs as you can before nightfall - all 8
if you can. This will make the level easier.

There are some icons in the bottom left corner of the screen.

EMU: Shows how many Emus Haven has hatched

EGG: Shows how many eggs you have currently collected

With enough eggs collected (at least 4), use the remaining time to
stock up on Catana before nightfall. The Xenos will attack come
darkness, so walk over to one of the 3 Gun Turrets and press (S) to
hop on. Now wait for the madness to commence.

-----
NIGHT
-----

Defending the eggs works just like a "shooter" type of game. Get on
a Gun Turret if you haven't already. Targeted items are green. The
more you damage them, the crosshair turns red. Oh, and each gun
turret has unlimited ammo.

Note: Your Shield Energy meter shows the shield of the gun. Don't let
it run down or the Gun Turret will be destroyed.

Your HUD acts as a radar, showing three different color dots: yellow
(eggs), purple (thieves), red (other enemies). Purple dots are the
ones you want to worry about. Find the location of the Xeno Thieves
using your HUD and shoot them down. Xeno Thieves normally come two
at a time. Focus on shooting down one at a time.

Dive-bombing Xenos come in waves. Shoot them down, or they will bomb
your Gun Turret.

Note: The crescent moon above the HUD shows the progression of
nighttime. The closer it is to the right, the closer it is to
       morning.

There are also Xeno Bugs that come and zap your Gun Turret. Shoot
them before they do. Also, if you can see little brown bug eggs,
shoot them before they hatch Xeno Bugs.

Tips: Thief Xenos should be your main priority here, since you want to
       protect the eggs.

Only get off a Gun Turret if you absolutely have to (it is
destroyed or you're running low on Catana).

There are various weapon power-ups around the landing pad, but
       Gun Turrets are better.

------------
LOADING EMUS
------------

If you defended the eggs through the night, the surviving eggs will
hatch. (Remember, at least 1 egg must survive). Hatch 8 Emus and you
will beat the level. If you haven't hatched that many yet, go collect
more eggs before the process begins again. But remember to collect at
least 4 eggs every time you go out - no matter what.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
OPTIONAL: RUNESTONE
---------------------------------------------------------------------
To get the Runestone, collect ALL 8 Eggs before dusk the first day.
Defend all 8 Eggs during the night, and if all 8 Eggs hatch the
next morning, Haven will get Runestone!

Use your HUD to determine from which direction the enemies are
attacking. The Emu icon shows how many Emus are left on the train.
The green Energy meter shows the power of the train - if that runs
down, you lose. (Not good.)

Ahead of you, a Bug will appear. He flies around in circles and shoots
missiles at you. Shoot him down. After that, another Bug will pop up.

Note: After the initial two Bugs, the rest of the enemies attack from
       behind.

Behind you, a Xeno Thief will fly up and attach itself to the train.
Shoot him before he takes an Emu.

Note: Whenever a Xeno Thief attaches itself to the train, try and get
rid of it as fast as you can. You will also hear a warning beep
       when it happens.

After this, four tiny gold flies will hover around you and a Bug will
show up. On top of this, another Xeno Thief will attach itself to the
train. Take care of the Xeno Thief first.

Then, 4 more tiny gold flies will come at you, followed by some
missiles and another Xeno Thief.

Then, many Bugs will pop up and more Xeno Thieves will come.
(Remember, take care of the Xenos Thieves first when possible.)

After this, more tiny gold flies come at you, followed by two Bugs.
Watch out for more missiles!

Near the end of the level, you will be bombarded with a few Xeno
Thieves and a bunch of Bugs. Take out the Xenos first.

The train will reach its destination and Will & Chill will thank
Haven for his services.

---------------
INTO THE DEPTHS
---------------

Haven will land next to a Flaming Pot and a Weapon Pot. Ahead of him
is a brown murky area. Strike the Weapon pot to get a Rapid Fire
Cannon (Blue) power-up. Now, jump into the murky area and make your
way through as fast as you can. Xeno Bugs will drop and attack.
Shoot them with weapon power-ups.

Note: Halfway through this murky area on the left is a Weapon Pot with
a Five-Way Shot (purple). It could be useful.

After this area, you will come to a tunnel with a Shield Dragon Pot and
some Xeno Eggs. Use your weapon power-up (if you still have it) to
shoot all the Eggs. Otherwise, just deploy your Energy Shield and run
around the Eggs as they explode.

You will come to a Flaming Blinking Pot. Lead the Shield Dragon (from
the Shield Dragon Pot) to it and have him break it. A nearby wire-
frame pot will turn into a Weapon Pot. Strike the Weapon Pot to get a
Plasma Shot (orange) power-up. Now, head through the next murky area.
Shoot any Xeno Bugs that drop.

When you make it out of the murky pit, you will find another Weapon
Pot on your left. In it is a Rapid Fire Cannon (blue) power-up.
This is a good thing because, in the corridor ahead, more Xeno Bugs
will drop.

Run through the corridor past some Fire Pots. About halfway through
on your left is an Energy Pot. Hop in it and launch Haven to get a
Plasma Shot (orange) power-up.

Now, head toward the murky area ahead. In this area, certain part of
the fog are green - don't touch the green fog, as it hurts! Use the
Plasma Shot to take out any Xeno Bugs. About halfway through this
area, you will find a Rapid Fire Cannon (blue) power-up. Pick it up
and continue.

***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(Second)***

Ahead on dry land, you will see an Energy Pot with a Five-Way Shot
(purple) power-up above it. Grab it and run into the corridor past
some more Xeno Eggs and Xeno Bugs. (Stay to the sides of the corridor
to avoid falling Xeno Eggs.)

Note: You may have to go back to the Energy Pot to grab the weapon
       power-up.

After passing through the corridor, you will come to a Mag-Ball Grind
on a cliff. Step on the pad and grind across to the other ledge.
(Don't fall off, or you'll fall to the murky pits below.) Once there,
head left past an Acid Pot to another Mag-Ball Grind. Grind across
to find a Shild Dragon Pot and a Shielded Pot next to some Fire Pots.
Head right to find 4 Flaming Pots and another Mag-Ball Grind.

Note: You can lead the Shield Dragon to the Flaming Pots to get some
       Hearts and Catana.

Grind across to find an area with some Shield Energy and an Energy
Pot. Hop in and launch Haven up to a ledge with a Mag-Ball Grind.
Deploy your Mag-Ball and grind to the next room.

Note: You will have to steer Haven on this Mag-Ball Grind. If he
falls off, he will get hurt.

---------------------
4 COGS & SOME DRAGONS
---------------------

***SILVER KEY ALERT!!!(Third)***

Haven will be dropped in a room that is dark. Some Shield Dragons
are flying around in this room. They provide light. Well, Haven
will not have any Shield Energy when he enters this room, so he
will not be able to lead the Dragons around. Instead, he will
have to follow them. If Haven steps into a dark portion of the
room, a Xeno Bug will drop down and eat Haven (yummy!), so he must
stay in the protective light of the Dragons at all times while in
this room. The Dragons fly on set paths.

Note: When following a Dragon, there will be a blue light under it -
try and stay as close to the blue dots as you can.
