Related to Genji:
-Shanaou Yoshitsune-
Comic Book by Hirofumi Sawada:
A story about a destined young boy named Hyota to meet with Ushiwakamaru,
the real son of Minamoto no Yoshitomo (who is being exiled and later will be
placed at the Kurama Temple).
He will then change place for the sick Ushiwakamaru and swore for the
glory of the Genji Clan and to defeat the Heike Clan. During his journey,
-with his great charm, kindness and braveness- he will recruit 5 persons who
are in possession of great potentials with the words Bravery (Yuu),
Wisdom (Chi), Kindness (Jin), Reliability (Shin), and Loyalty (Chuu).
The first to recruit is -Oniwaka- Benkei Musashibo (Loyalty).
The second person is -Chiomaru- Toshimori? (Wisdom?).
He applies the strategic lesson from Ushiwakamaru to solve many problems.
Also a man named Kichiji made his promise to bring him safely to Hidehira
no Fujiwara in Hiraizumi, Oushu.
After performing Genpuku he changed his name into Shanaou Yoshitsune.
He plays a strong and very quick sword skill.
I guess that is the basic for Kamui :)¬
(The story on the comic book is up to Chapter 2 I think :)
I hope that the complete story on the game is offering as many exciting
moments as on the comic and history book.

The game "Genji" was based on the folktale version of Minamoto no Yosh!tsune.
Game Republic have also taken some creative license in the use of Amahagane,
Kagekiyo's ambition and of course the refusal of Yosh!tsune to join up with
Minamoto no Yoritomo.
Hence the game is fiction. The real Yosh!tsune did not possess divine power,
nor was he a lone fighter.
He lived circa 1200 AD. The Heike finally defeated the Genji clan after
years of rivalry. All of Genji survivors were either killed r exiled, as was
the case of Yosh!tsune. He was sent to the Buddhist Temple in Mount Kurama.
His older brother Yoritomo was sent to Hiruga Kojima and lived under
surveillance.
To make a long story short, Yosh!tsune ended up joining with Yoritomo's
forces and together they vanquished the Heike. However Yoritomo began
doubting his brother and in the end he ordered for Yosh!tsune's asassination
I suggest a good place to start is to Google "Yosh!tsune".
But beware of the two paths your paper can go:
the 'true' tale or the 'folklore'.

As GadisNaga points out, there is a LOT of fiction involving Yoshi-tsune.
He has been romanticized so much over the centuries that it's really hard
to strain the absolute truth from legend. Historically, even Benkei himself
as Yoshi-tsune's impressive sohei comrade may not have existed,
as he's only mentioned by name fleetingly as one of Yoshi-tsune's soldiers
in most of the more factual historical documents.
You could do a very good paper on how men become legends, though.
If you go that route, definitely add how folk tales say Yoshi-tsune escaped
his brother's wrath and fled to mainland Asia where he became Genghis Khan.
The Samurai Archives are, as always, a great starting point.
There are two translated novels written about the Genpei War
(where Yoshi-tsune earned his fame), the Heike Monogatari or Tale of Heike
and the simply named Yoshi-tsune. Neither are 100% historically accurate,
but are better than pure folklore.
The whole period is fascinating and the rise and fall of the Taira and
Minamoto (Heike and Genji) families is very interesting, particularly how
the 'evil' Heike were partially brought down by acts of kindness
(sparing Yoshi-tomo's sons) while the Minamoto were later brought down by
suspicion, fratricide, and internal scheming.

*Benkei and Yoshitsune finally completed the mission.
Yoshitsune helps Lady Shizuka leaning on his arms.
Kiyomori's army having lost their leader, and attacked by Yoritomo's army,
abandoned Kyoto and fled to the West.
At the beautiful river side,
Lady Shizuka combines all the Amahagane and give it to Yoshitsune.
Yoshitsune refuses to meet with his brother (Yoritomo) as to avoid
talking about the Amahagane and also to avoid having anymore bloodshed.
"Let us go on our way" said Yoshitsune.
Yoshitsune is looking at Lady Shizuka from above the horse then
Lady Shizuka gives her hand to Yoshitsune.
He helps her onto the back of the horse.
Benkei and Princess Minazuru are waiting beside the two of them.
