                           =FAQ AND MOVE LIST=
                               Version 2.00

Author's Word:

Hello! It's me again. Writing yet another FAQ. I've done 4 other FAQs
too, of course, but this would have to be the first one I've done for a
game of the generation of video games we have nowadays. Oh, but that's
not important. I'll try to update this FAQ as much as I can and if I
decide to add any neat stuff I'll be sure to.

This FAQ is mostly a move list but I'll try to include some other
tidbits too. If you have any extra info you'd like to share with me,
suggestions, or things you'd like to clear up with me, please let me
know at my email addy, iralfloirei@aol.com. Any help and info would be
appreciated and I will give credit to you for it.

Before I go down the list I want to say that, and I do so seriously
mean this, YOU *MAY NOT* TAKE THIS FAQ WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!! If I
grant you my permission, you WILL leave this FAQ unedited. You WILL NOT
change a damn thing in it. I'm not about to have any of my work, be it
written or otherwise, stolen by some disrespectful fellow.

With that said, let's get down to the nitty-gritty.

UPDATE (07-15-04) - I've added a section of Tag Teams and their
Ultimate Tag Team Attacks to the FAQ! I also added some more to the
history of the Kinnikuman series, and a character biography list.

UPDATE (07-17-04) - I've added a bit more to the history section, some
more info on the Mask Hunt mode and the original japanese version's
names of some of the characters. I even managed to come across two more
tag teams, one with its own original Tag Team Attack! WOO!!!
Also, finally found out how to get Lord Muscle and Rouge Shogun. Thanks
Kash!

UPDATE (07-31-04) - I've found several new tag team combinations! Also,
added a new section to the FAQ.

UPDATE (08-02-04) - Corrected Lord Muscle's name, fixed a few mistakes.

UPDATE (08-05-04) - Added some new stuff in the Single Match Encounter
Dialouges and Tag Team Combinations.

UPDATE (08-09-04) - Two new encounters found, as well as adding a tips
and tricks section.

UPDATE (08-18-04) - Found a couple of encounters I seemed to have
missed. ^_^;

UPDATE (08-19-04) - Yet another encounter found! O_o;

UPDATE (09-27-04) - I decided to add each character's Support function.
=) Also, added an encounter thing I missed.

About "M.U.S.C.L.E" and "Ultimate Muscle"
_______________________________________________________________________

In here I'll try to supply the general knowledge and theory I know of
the series.

In 1983 or so, two artists, Nakai Yoshinori and Takashi Shimada, came
up with the idea of superpowered wrestling matches... going by the
title "Yudatemago" (which means 'boiled egg' in japanese), they create
Kinnikuman, which became one of Japan's most popular superhero series
around the 80s. It had a unique mixture of comedic goofiness and humor
and plotlines that made it rather interesting. It never took itself too
seriously, that much is sure. However, at this time, we didn't even
know there WAS an anime of Kinnikuman... but we would be shown the
toys. Originally, the series was meant to parody Ultraman, but it soon
became a superpowered wrestling series, which made it all the better.
It ran in Shonen Jump from the late 70s to around 1985 or so.

Some time later, however, Mattel would expose us to the Kinnikuman
stuff, though they would be released as M.U.S.C.L.E (Millions of
Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere). These small pink rubber
figurines took the form of characters that were in the anime. Some of
the characters in the series were self-made entries sent in from fans
of the manga, which they had every now and then.

The Kinnikuman series lasted for a good while. It had around 137
episodes or so, and even had a spin-off series based on Ramenman,
another one of its characters. Eventually, around 2001, a new series of
wacky wrestlers would be created, only this time, took place around
Muscleman's son, Kid Muscle (Mantaro Kinnikuman... who is actually
named after "Ultraman Taro"), 28 years after the dMp was defeated. They
returned, and the original warriors who fended them off were defeated
and are too old to fight, thus its left up to the new generation of
galactic wrestlers.

As of now, the Ultimate Muscle series increased the Kinnikuman legacy's
popularity a bit here in the US. The anime, though unfortunately dubbed
by 4Kids Entertainment (I don't like their dub work, considering what
they did to Shaman King), used to be on FoxBox (it's gone from their
schedules for the time being) and the manga is translated by Viz.

The original versions of both Ultimate Muscle and the original
Kinnikuman are more brutal than what you have have seen on TV, as 4Kids
wiped out a lot of it due to the content--well, considering that
they're called "4Kids Entertainment" they have to... for kids. Which
means no uncut dub versions for us. =( -shakes fist angrily at 4Kids-

The manga is the same way. The matches get very bloody and horrible
injuries can take place(there was a moment where Eskara ripped off
Jeagar's arm, for example. But don't worry... its reattached some time
later somehow... XD). And any character, may it be a giant forklift or
even an oven, bleeds red. They at least had the decency to show Comrade
Turbinski's arms getting ripped off and his stomach opened up (to
reveal an anti-gravity device inside) during his fight with Kevin Mask.

The content that 4Kids allowed, thankfully, was more than what they
usually allowed in the anime they dubbed, unlike Shaman King, their
last dub work.

Sadly, the Ultimate Muscle series did not last quite as long as the
original Kinnikuman series. It lasted up until the end of the Chojin
Tournament, where it then closed. A pity, cause I would have liked to
see more going on in that series. =(

CONTROLS (Yer gonna need a Dualshock 2 controller for this)
_______________________________________________________________________

-GENERAL-

Directional Buttons - Move around. The Left Analog stick can be used to
move around too, but I'm more comfortable with the d-buttons.

Left Analog Stick - What'd I just tell you!? Weren't you paying
attention? >/

Right Analog Stick - Tags when you're near your own corner where your
partner is during a Tag Team match, or changes your focus on another
enemy in the ring with you if you're in a battle royal or 2 vs. 2
match... course you have to be near them for that to work.

Triangle ( /\ )- Jump. Go on, press it. Whee!! Wasn't that fun? Let's
jump again.

Circle ( O )- Grapple. Okay, more like, grab.

X ( X, obviously )- Attack. Yeah... that's the gist of it.

Square ( [] )- Guards. Yeah, blocks attacks! =) This can also be used
as an easy way to dash with control types A and D (in the option to set
controls) by holding it down and pressing the direction movements. It
can also be used to cancel your own pin.

L1 - Trigger for Lv. 1, 2 or 3 moves. Basically, to do a Lv. 1 move,
you press L1+X, for a Lv. 2 move, L1+Circle, and for a Lv. 3 move, the
ultimate attack, L1+R1.

R1 - There you go, not paying attention to me again. e_e

L2 - Executes a Pin when your opponent is down on the mat.

R2 - Lifts the opponent up, Brock Lesnar style. You know... he steps
over them, grabs the opponent by his neck and lifts him up onto his
feet.

L3 - L3 button? The Left analog stick when pressed down. Pressing this
turing a tag match will have the partner of yours sacrifice some of his
vitality to throw you a Chojin power-up. All 3 Chojin torches must be
full in order for this to work.

R3 - Same with the Right analog stick. Your partner will lend you
support in some way, which can vary, and offer advice too. As with the
Power-up, all three Chojin Torches must be lit in order to do this
move. Each character gives his own speech when he gives advice... kinda
neat. =)

Start - Pauses the game and selects things.

Select - It's there to look cool on your control pad.

-ATTACKS-

Normal Attack - X
Strong Attack - Hold X
Combo Attack - Press X rapidly
Strong Combo Attack - X rapidly, then hold X on the next press.
Dash Attack - X while dashing
Aerial Attack - X while in midair
Mat Attack - X while opponent is on ground.

-GRAPPLE-

Front Grapple - O while facing the opponent
Back Grapple - O while behind opponent
Midair Grapple - O from the air (can catch opponents in the air too!)
Tackle - O when dashing
Throw-Up - O, then hold /\ immediately afterwards
Throw-Up Grapple - /\ immediately after Throw-Up
Hammer Throw - O, then hold X immediately afterwards
Hammer Grapple - O after Hammer Throw
Ground Technique - O while opponent is on ground (if your character has
one)

-EVASION-

(note: TIMING is required to evade at the right time... practice always
helps ^_~ )

Evade Grapples, Tackles and Ground Grapples - X
Attacks and Air Attacks - []
Hammer Throws and Throw-Ups - /\

-SPECIALS-

L1+X - Lv. 1 Special
L1+O - Lv. 2 Special
L1+R1 - Lv. 3 Ultimate Attack

Tag Team Attack - L1+R1 when both you and your partner's Chojin Meters
are full.

barbed wire ropes)

Super Dash - Dash against the ropes (unless they are electic or barbed
wire ropes)

HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED
_______________________________________________________________________

Galactic Wrestling isn't played like the average wrestling game. For
those who have not played it or the Gamecube adaption of Ultimate
Muscle this will give you a basic overview of the gameplay.

In a match, each player has a vitality meter that drains as damage is
inflicted. If the meter is bottomed out all the way, then the character
can take a decent enough amount of damage before he collapses and is
KOed, ending the match or defeating the partner. Other than the KO, a
battle can last until time runs out or until all the opposition has
been pinned.

Underneath each vitality meter is a "Chojin Meter" of three orbs which
fills up gradually during the matches. They start out grey, and
gradually turn blue, then yellow, then red, and then into flaming
torches. Each orb represents a special move level.

Beside the character portriats is a green meter that fills up as moves
are executed. When this meter fills a characters "Muscle Power" is
activated, and strength and speed is increased. However, for some,
special powers are activated.

During the matches, sometimes Meat will appear and move left and right
for a while before throwing a "Meat Ball" (you'll know what it is when
you start hearing its distinctive noise as it traverses the ring). It
will come from either Meat himself or from a distance away from him
like as if it were coming to him. Grabbing the Meat Ball will instantly
fill all three orbs in your Chojin Meter. Plus, if your enemy is next
to you at the time you grab it the burst of power from grabbing it will
knock him away. =)

==ABOUT THE MASK HUNT MODE=============================================

The Mask Hunt in the game's Survival mode is played a little
differently. It works as a 2 vs. 2 game of survival, only with the
added option of being able to remove the opponent's mask... that is, if
he has a mask. This is not an easy mode to beat, and completing it is a
little more complicated than one might think.

In the Mask Hunt mode, you play as Neptuneman and Big Budo, the Hell
Missionaries. In order to get a character's mask you must perform their
tag-team attack. Mask the End when the enemy's vitality is low. It does
a MASSIVE amount of damage, about three quarters or so of the enemy's
vitality (not to mention its fun to watch =D), so if you've got your
opponent's vitality down very low, use it when you can when both you
and your CPU partner's Chojin meters are full. Fortunately, once you
collect a character's mask that's on the list you won't have to collect
it again unless for the rankings. If a masked character is KOed with
Mask the End that ends the match whereas if you KO them normally or a
character who has no mask then it still goes on much like a regular 2
vs. 2 battle.
Mask the End has to be used on these characters:

Kid Muscle
Wally Tusket
Kevin Mask
Hanzo
King Muscle
Robin Mask
Warsman
Shivano
Manitoban
Specialman
Starface
Rouge Shogun
Lord Muscle
Lord Wrangler
Lomeinman
Barracuda
Poseidon
Commander King Muscle
Grandpa
Vance McMadd
Comrade Turbinski
Chojin Kid Muscle
Lord Flash

My recommendation is that you play as Big Budo, because the computer
plays him poorly and will get defeated quick. Leave the rough stuff to
Neptuneman, and have BB take care of the masked guy you wanna go after
(if there is one in the ring, that is).

MOVE LISTS
_______________________________________________________________________

( Note: If a button is to be pressed and held for a strong move or
something, it'll be labled with parenthesis. HT stands for Hammer
Throw, TU stands for Throw-Up. An "*" means that move can also be done
in the air, a "^" means it can also be done while behind the opponent.
If a move is in brackets, it requires the MUSCLE POWER to be activated
in order to use it. )

When King Muscle stinks, he STINKS. No. Really. I mean, he stinks. When
you press R3, Muscleman will let loose an explosion of garlic fart
clouds at his opponent that smell so bad, that if it touches the
opponent, it will stun him for a short time. Pyew!! The bad thing is
that it only encircles the corner of the ring so use it if your
opponent is near enough to KM.
