Echo Night: Beyond - Strategy Guide (Page 04)

Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Echo Night: Beyond - Strategy Guide (Page 04).

*Certain dialogue in the intro has been changed in the translation.
Most notably, the protagonist no longer uses the ambiguously sounding
"I have a feeling that I'm called Richard," but instead states that
he simply "heard someone calling my name."*

SW-W105 (Female) *In the Japanese version, only parts of words
were audible. Her text was broken and barely comprehensible. In
the English version, there is only some static in the background.*

Flask *In the Japanese version, it is called whiskey bottle...
So if you're wondering what was in the flask, it was whiskey.*

*In the English version, Dudley Tungsten asks for "his flask,"
but in the Japanese version, he simply wants liquor. Though its
never specified WHOSE flask it is in the Japanese version, so
perhaps it is Dudley's after all.

Nikolai Ivanov *In the Japanese version, his name is
Chrysoberyl Ivanov. Chrysoberyl is beryllium aluminum
oxide, commonly known as "cat's eye." Nikolai sounds more
Russian, don't you think?

Marcel Aron. *In the Japanese version, his name is Monzo Aron.
Another good name change here.*

Katarina and Katrina Pollucs *In the Japanese version, their
names are Katarina and Clarina Pollux. Note that in the spoken
dialogue, Jacob also says Katalina instead of Katarina. The
name Pollux is from Greek mythology. Castor and Pollux were two
twins of the god Zeus and the mortal Leda.*

Jacob Pollucs *In the Japanese version, his name is Yanush Pollux.*

Ali Covellin *In the Japanese version, her name is Aki Covellin.
If you read her data in the notes, her name is written as Aki.
Perhaps it sounded too Japanese, so they changed it at the last minute.*

Nick Getchell *In the Japanese version, his name is Nice Getchell.
Good name change here too!*

Igor Hinggan *In the Japanese version, they called him
Igory instead of Igor. Whoops!*

Paolo Dato *In the Japanese version, he is Elio Dato.

Natalia Riskaya *In the Japanese version, her name is
"Sukuterudo Raiskaya." Sukuterudo? Well, another good name change!
Actually I did some research and sukuterudo is the Japanese
spelling for a mineral called skutterudite, a mineral ore composed
of cobalt and nickel. I don't think Skutterudite is a common
Russian name, but then again I might be wrong.*

Dimitri Euxen *In the Japanese version, his name is
Alya Euxen. Wow! Alya is actually a Russian name... Where's
the mineral connection that was there with the other
Russians, then? Well, Euxen is a shortened version of
Euxenite, which is Yttrium Niobium Tantalum Titanium Oxide.*

Ruthie. *In the Japanese version, the cat's name is
Rutile. Rutile is also a mineral, a titanium ore. Perhaps
that wasn't friendly enough sounding for the cat's name
in the US? Or maybe they wanted to get rid of all of
these weird names based on minerals*

*Various bits of dialogue are altered... "The air smells great
out there..." is changed to "It's great to be outta that cage..."
Minor stuff of this nature. I won't list every minor change.*

Rosary. *The priest's rosary description originally said
"Used to offer prayers to the goddess..." In the English
version, it says "Priest's rosary necklace." Why it was
changed is up to speculation.*
