Chaos Legion - Strategy Guide (Page 05)
Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Chaos Legion - Strategy Guide (Page 05).
You'll receive Phantom Soul for beating them.
-------------------------------------------------------
Scene 4: Destroy the Target! (Balors, Balor Danus!!!)
-------------------------------------------------------
Move through the open gate to enter another large room. This room
has three gates in it on the north end. Ahead of you are some weak
Balors. Destroy them all. They'll drop a bunch of EXP Gems, so
be sure to get those.
=== TARGET: BALORS ===
On top of this, there are a load of Balors that come tumbling in.
You must destroy them all. Use Blasphemy's Crimson Carnage to help
you out. Also, try and build up your Soul Meter. Now, why would
that be?
=== TARGET: 4 BALOR DANUS (!) ===
You guessed it. But, what? FOUR of them?! Yeah, that's right.
This is tough. So, four Balor Danus will spawn. Quickly lock-on
to one and summon Malice. Now, move around the arena, shooting
EVERYTHING.
Keep an eye on your radar so you will know where each Balor Danu is.
You can also use Blasmphemy's Crimson Carnage or Malice's sniper
ability here. But, the key is to keep moving so you and your legions
don't get pancaked.
Note: If you legion gets separated from you and is promptly getting
smashed, quickly unsummon them and then summon them again. They
will pop up at your side. If your legion crest gets shattered,
use a Soul Recovery Gem or beat up on the Balor Danus until your
crest are restored. But, again, Sieg cannot destroy the Balor
Danus by himself.
If Malice is at about Attack Level 3 here, you should do fairly well.
When one goes down, lock-on to another and fire. Keep moving! Watch
out for Crawler Packs here that could trip you up.
You'll get Phantom Soul for every Balor Danu you dispatch. After you
rid yourself of Balor Danus, two gates will open - the red Northwest
Gate and the blue Northeast Gate.
Let's go through the Northwest Gate first. The screen will swirl and
fade. Checkpoint!
--------------------------------------------------------
Scene 5: Red Northwest Gate (Balors, Badbhs, Seedlings)
--------------------------------------------------------
This new area has a path that is like a circle. This circle is
filled with Balors that keep respawning.
(At the Northwest corner of the path, just before it heads south,
there is a Gate with a Blue Rudo Garia behind it. We'll get to
that in a bit.)
You must follow the path up to an open circular area where Badbhs
and Seedlings wait.
Note: If you have Flawed equipped, you can just jump up there.
=== TARGET: SEEDLINGS ===
The Seedlings are your primary target here. Use Crimson Carnage to
keep the Badbhs away from you. (You'll get Phantom Life if you
destroy them.)
Jump and attack each Seedling. Use dodge (R1+X) to evade any
attacking enemies. Try and draw the enemies so there is a clear
area near a Seedling. Then run in and pound the Seedling.
Keep moving and know where the Badbhs are, particularly. Use
Crimson Carnage to hit a bunch of enemies as well as the Seedlings.
Pick up any items that drop. You'll get Phantom Life for beating
the Seedlings.
When you bash the Seedlings to a mulch, don't leave the room just
yet. Remember that gate with the Blue Rudo Garia behind it?
Well, it's open now. Behind the Rudo Garia are three items:
an EXP L Gem, a Soul Recovery S Gem, and a Life Recovery L Gem.
Jump behind him and snatch them. You can fight him if you really
want to, but you'll only get Phantom Soul. (If you do fight him,
take out his shield with Crimson Carnage.)
When you're done in this area, head back out the exit to watch
the screen swirl and fade.
Back out in the big room with the three gates, go through the
Northeast Blue Gate. The screen will swirl and fade.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 6: Blue Northeast Gate (Balors, Rudo Garia, Rouge Ogmas)
---------------------------------------------------------------
You'll end up on a circular path. At the center of this hallway
is a chasm, but don't worry - you can't fall in. But, you do have
to worry about the constantly respawning Balors. Head to the right
(east) to find a little room with a Jenon in it.
=== TARGET: JENON (SOUTHEAST ROOM) ===
The Jenon is your target. But before you run into the small room,
a Blue Rudo Garia will spawn in the doorway, blocking your path.
Fight him if you want to or just slip past him into the small room.
In the small room, a Rouge Ogma will run atyou. Keep him at bay
with Blasphemy's Crimson Carnage because he likes to breathe fire.
Lock-on to the Jenon and pummel away Sieg. You can use Crimson
Carnage on it as well. Remember to keep your Soul Energy up too.
(Watch out for Crawler Packs in the room.)
After a while, some Balors might wander in from outside. Watch out!
You'll get a Life Max Up S Gem for disposing of Jenon.
After this, head out of the small room to the circular trail where
the Balors are. Head north, or right, along the path.
Note: There is a Power Gate along this path. (I don't know what's
behind it, sorry.)
At the north side of the hallway, you'll see another room with a
Jenon.
=== TARGET: JENON (NORTHEAST ROOM) ===
Another Blue Rudo Garia will spawn at the doorway. Inside the
room is a Rouge Ogma. Same strategy here - just keep the Rouge
Ogma on his back with Crimson Carnage so he doesn't burn you with
his flame breath. Hack away at the Jenon, too, until it's dust.
Again, watch out for Crawler Packs here. And, some Balors might
leak in as well.
You get a Defense Up S Gem for taking this Jenon down.
Now, head out of that room and go west. You'll find another room
in the Northwest corner of the hall. A Blue Rudo Garia will
spawn at the door.
=== TARGET: JENON (NORTHWEST ROOM) ===
Same deal. Crawler Packs, Balors. A Rouge Ogma will get in your
way, along with a Blue Rudo Garia. Punish everything in the room.
You'll get a Life Max Up S Gem.
Now, go out of this room and head south (to the right).
=== TARGET JENON (WEST) ===
You'll come to a Jenon at the end of the path. This is again the
target. But this time, the Jenon has a few Cannon buddies around it.
Summon Malice and shoot the Cannons down.
Get to a safe area by the Jenon and use Blasphemy's Crimson Carnage to
set everything ablaze - including the Jenon. Use dodges (R1+X) to
avoid the Cannon blasts. Also, beware of Balors.
Note: Don't fall off the ledge, or you'll have to run all the way back
around.
You'll get an Attack Up L Gem and Phantom Life for the beating down
the last Jenon.
When you're finished here, head south and drop off the ledge. Now go
through the gate and exit the area while the screen swirls and fades.
Back in the room with the three gates, the Golden Gate (not the
bridge!) to the north will open. Go through it. The screen will
swirl and fade. Prepare for a rumbling . . .
*=====================================================================*
*////////////////////////* BOSS: GIL BALOR *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
Okay, there's no mistaking where Gil Balor is in the room - above you!
This room is more of a narrow hallway with wider areas at the south
and north ends.
Note: At the south end of the corridor is a Life Recovery S Gem and a
Soul Recovery S Gem.
Some things to ponder . . .
Gil Balor: He hangs out above you a lot. He also likes to slap you
with his front legs, so beware if your close to him.
(Believe me, this HURTS!) To avoid a leg slap, run
slightly under him.
Attacking: Now, he has a weak spot on his face. But, to get to it,
you'll have to knock his two front legs down. Do this by
summoning Malice and shooting his legs. (When a leg
flashes red, that means it is being damaged). When one leg
goes down, shoot the other, or jump and hit it with Sieg.
Gil Balor will send out little Crawlers on the ground. Use
Malice to shoot these Crawlers so they don't stun Sieg.
Then, quickly attack his other leg so he falls to the
ground. When he plops to the pavement, a giant turquoise
orb on his face will be exposed. That is his weak spot.
Shoot it with Malice and have Sieg attack it. (You can
alsouse Malice's sniper ability here.) Soon, Gil Balor
will climb back up above you.
Camera: To focus on him, center the camera back on Gil Balor by
using the (R1) button only. (The right analog stick) won't
work here.)
Lasers: From time to time, Gil Balor will charge up and fire a few
laser blasts. You can tell he's readying himself by a
white wall that forms in front of him. The only way I know
to avoid these laser blasts is to dodge them and jump.
(Running under him when he's firing won't help, as the
lasers are homing blasts. The will follow you and hit you.
Also, if you run to the open areas and in a corner, there
is still a possibility you will be hit.)
Now, on to the fight . . .
When Gil Balor is on the ground, lock-on to him, so Malice can shoot
him. When Gil Balor is above you, have Sieg jump and attack his legs
and then run a bit under him to avoid his front leg attacks. If you
run too far, Gil Balor will flip around so he is facing you.
So, just concentrate on knocking down his front legs with Malice and
then when he falls, attack his weak spot with Sieg and Malice.
Repeat this strategy until Gil Balor is no more.
You'll get a Spiritual Gem when you shred Gil Balor. Pick it up to
end the level. (Finally!)

~ STAGE 9 ~
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Forest
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
~~ LEGION LAYOUT: NADA - ONLY TWO SMOKING GUNS ~~
-------------------------------------------------
Note: Since this is the first time you play as Arcia, you might want
to take this time to practice her moves. This stage is designed
basically as a chance for you to familiarize yourself with
Arcia's play style. Get a feel for her controls and abilities.
(Refer to Stage 8 Intermission above for details on her control
scheme and abilities.)
--------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Annihilate the Enemy! (Zeodagdas)
--------------------------------------------
Arcia will begin in a clearing where a few Zeodagdas will spawn. Your
job is to annihilate them all.
Use this time to practice moves like Razor Kick (left analog down + S)
and Horizontal Fire. Also, get a feel for Snipe Mode (hold down S).
Note: Behind a tree in the middle of the area is a Life Recovery S
Gem.
After defeating the Zeodagdas, move north to find a Jenon by a sealed
gate.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
Some more Zeodagdas will appear here as well. Use the Strafe Ability
(R1) to move about while aimed at targets.
Note: Arcia doesn't have a lock-on ability, but her Orbit Fire ability
will clear out a bunch of adversaries rather efficiently.
Also, use Horizontal Fire to take out a lot of Zeodagdas quickly. The
wave of Zeoodagdas is rather small, so once they're taken care of,
focus on the Jenon. Shooting it will destroy it quickly.
You'll get a Recovoery Herb M, which automatically restores Arcia's
Life Meter.
---------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2: Annihilatethe the Enemy! (Zeodagdas, Galarges)
---------------------------------------------------------
Move into the next open area where many Zeodagdas spawn along with a
few Galarges. You must wipe everything out. In the north corner of
this area on a small ledge is a Life Recovery S Gem. Grab it.
Remember to use Razor Kick and Horizontal Fire to dispose of enemies
quickly. When all the enemies are dust, you'll get a Recovery Herb S.
Now, move through the open gate to the east.
----------------------------------------------------------
Scene 3: Destroy the Target! (Balors, Zeodagdas, Jenons)
----------------------------------------------------------
This next open area houses loads of Balors and Zeodagdas. It even
has Zeodagdas with Lasers, so watch out. Oh, and there are Galarges
flying around as well.
=== TARGET: 2 JENONS ===
There is on Jenon in the middle of this clearing on a high ledge.
You will have to double-jump up a few ledges past a Zeodagda with a
Laser to reach it. (Watch out for laser crossfire.) When you get
to the top with the Jenon, just pump it full of lead. Don't fall
off the ledge, or you'll get pounded by Balors. Move around on the
ledge to lessen the chances of being smacked by a Laser. You'll
receive a Bullet Case L when you destroy this Jenon. (These increase
Arcia's maximum amount of Energy Bullets.
After disposing of the Jenon on the ledge, head east to the gate.
There, you'll find another Jenon. When attacking this one, you might
get hounded by Balors, so use Razor Kick and Horizontal Fire. Also,
use an Orbit Fire attack (C) if you have to. You'll get a Recovery
Herb L for destroying this one.
The baddies in this area will contine to respawn, so concentrate on
the Jenons.
Note: In the south portion of the area, you will find a spot under a
giant tree stump. Hop down in there to grab an Energy Bullet L
Clip. (These replenish Arica's Energy Bullet stash by 3.)
Also, in the northwest corner of the area, on a ledge, rests a
Life Recovery S Gem.
When your job is finished here, slip through the open gate.
--------------------------------------------------------
Scene 4: Annihilate the Enemy! (Zeodagdas, Rudo Garia)
--------------------------------------------------------
Now you'll have to run across a giant fallen tree trunk that bends
north. On this path, you'll have to contend with 2 Zeodagdas. Pump
them full of lead and run to the end to find a Rudo Garia.
The Rudo Garia blocks a gate at the end of the tree trunk. Jump in
and attack him a bit from behind and then leap quickly out of his
way so you don't get a mouthful of shield. You can also get close
enough for him to wind up and attack but then step away the moment
he does. This will leave his torso open to attack. Shoot it.
Soon, his shield will shatter. When it does, bust out the guns and
start shooting. (I don't recommend getting too close to him at
this point because his spinning attack will flatten Arcia.)
You'll get a bullet Case S for defeating him.
----------------------------------------------------------
Scene 5: Destroy the Target! (Zeodagdas, Balors, Jenons)
----------------------------------------------------------
This area might be tough. A load of enemies continuously respawn
and come after you. Just after entering the area, you'll find an
Energy Bullet L Clip on a ledge at the west side of this new
section. On a ledge to the east are an Energu Bullet S Clip and
a Life Recovery S Gem. Pick these up as well.
Now, continue north, avoiding the enemies and Zeodagdas with Lasers.
You'll come to a Rudo Garia blocking a narrow path. You can jump
over him to get to your target - the Jenon by the gate.
Note: Just past the Rudo Garia on a ledge to the east (right) is an
Energy Bullet S Clip.
Take out a few of the Zeodagdas with Lasers so they don't fire at
you when your working on disposing of the Jenon. Okay, when you
get back behind the Jenon, Zeodagdas will come after you. Try and
stay focused on the Jenon, but if things get hairy, use a few Orbit
Fire attacks next to the Jenon to straighten things out. A few of
these will destroy the Jenon and everything else.
You'll get a Recovery Herb M for your gun-wielding display. Now,
mosey through the open gate and watch as the screen swirls and
fades. Pretty. (Checkpoint!)
---------------------------------------
Scene 6: Destroy the Target! (Balors)
---------------------------------------
This next relatively straight portion of forest will quickly fill
up with Balors. Two Jenons, each on either side of the trail rest
on ledges. Double-jump up to one of these ledge if there are too
many Balors. Otherwise, use Razor Kick, Horizontal Fire, a maybe
a few Orbital Fire attacks to clear the area. Pick up any items
that drop. (If you destroy the Jenons, you'll get some Recovery
Herb S items. But, be careful, the Balors can jump right up to
those ledges.
=== TARGET: GREEN JENON ===
You'll come to what looks to be a dead end at the north end of
the trail. But, if you look up, you'll see a green Jenon resting
on a ledge. It just so happens that the ledge is so teensy weensy
that Arcia can't double-jump up there yet because the Jenon is in
her way.
I suggest clearing out all the Balors in this area first, as they
can be annoying. Now, with all the Balors gone, Arcia must double
jump up and fire her guns at the Jenon until it is destroyed.
Also, you can use Horizontal Fire. (Do this by, again, pressing
R1 first, then X and "down" on the left analog stick at the same
time.)
You will get a Life Recovery L Gem for destroying the Jenon.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 7: Destroy the Target! (Zeodagdas, Zeodagdas with Lasers)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now, double-jump up to the ledge where the Jenon used to be and
continue on north. You will have to jump up some ledges on the
path. Don't miss the Life Recovery S Gem.
Note: Beware two Zeodagdas with Lasers on some ledges. They will
create a crossfire!
Also, Zeodagdas will spawn on the path. After jumping up the
ledges, pick up other items like Life Recovery S Gem, Recovery
Herb S, and Energy Bullet S Clip. Hop up all the ledges,
disposing of any Zeodagdas that might show up.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
Your real target is a Jenon that you encounter by a gate after
leaping up all those ledges. Just get close to it and shoot it.
Use some Orbit Fire attacks if you have to.
Zeodagdas will try and slice you but keep them at bay with Razor
Kicks and Horizontal Fire. Stay behind the Jenon so you don't
get blasted by any Zeodagdas with lasers.
You'll get a Bullect Case S for your effort. Now, move on north.
-------------------------------------------
Scene 8: Annihilate the Enemy! (Galarges)
-------------------------------------------
Your job in the open area is to blow everything up. Easy enough,
but the numerous Galarges that pop up here will try and make that
goal stay only that.
Use Horizontal Fire to blow out of the sky. (Maneuver on the
ground by moving the left analog stick left or right.) You can
also double-jump and shoot them. Pick up any items that fall,
but you'd do that anyway.
Before you pass through the gate to the next area, don't forget
to pick up the Energy Bullet S Clip. It's at the north end by
the gate next to a cliff. Okay, now you're ready . . .
--------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 9: Destroy the Target! (Balors, Zeodagdas, Rudo Garia)
--------------------------------------------------------------
Hear that squeaking? Yeah, Balors are here. There are some
Zeodagdas too. Run on ahead on the narrow path that wraps around
to the top of a hill. (Don't miss the Energy Bullet S Clip on
your way up!)
Note: On a high ledge on the left (south side) of the path are a
Recovery Herb S and an Attack Up L Gem. This ledge is too high
to even double-jump up too. To pick up the items, run up the
path to the top of the mountain and face south. Then, double-
jump across the gap to acquire the goodies.
Okay, once you're at the top of the path, head southeast and
double-jump across the gap to the other side where a Rudo Garia
is waiting.
=== TARGET: RUDO GARIA ===
Alrighty, take out Rudo Garia's shield first. Do this by either
attack him from behind and evading his shield swings, or drawing
his attack by getting close to him forcing him to swing his shield
while you move away at the last second. When his torso is left
open, fire at him.
When his shield is obliterated, just bust him full of caps until he
is too. But don't get too close or you'll get slapped by his
spinning attack.
Note: Watch out for any enemies that might leap the gap and attack
you.
A Defense up S Gem will be your reward. Now move ahead . . .
--------------------------------------------
Scene 10: Annihilate the Enemy! (Galarges)
--------------------------------------------
In the next area of foliage, turn west (right) and face some Galarges.
Arcia must dispose of them all. Again, use Horizontal Fire to clip
their wings. Pick up any items that drop from the sky.
Quickly dash through the gate to the west and watch the screen swirl
and fade. Prepare.
*=====================================================================*
*///////////////////////* BOSS: GIL MAPONOS *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
This guy looks familiar! Actually, he's a clone Maponos from Stage 5.
He has a protective barrier that Arcia must blast off with her guns to
expose his chewy center.
Now, your area for maneuverability is rather limited - just a narrow
path that goes East and West. On the East end of the area is a Life
Recovery S Gem. On the west end is a Recovery Herb S. This might be
a little tougher than expected because mines are floating around.
Also, your good ol' friends the Laser Canons will show up. They will
fire lasers at Arcia, all the way across the path. But, thankfully,
red lines appear on the ground just before the Laser Canons fire.
Avoid the fire by standing between the red lines or double-jumping.
Okay, Gil Maponos will raise his protective at intervals. When he
does, blast away at his core. Strafing while facing Gil Maponos is
helpful here.
Also, when he raises his barrier, Gil Maponos will send metallic bombs
floating at you. Don't let them get near you. You can shoot them out
of the sky before they reach you.
Keep an eye on your radar, too, to know where other enemies are in
relation to you.
When you knock Gil Maponos' Life Meter down to half way (half green
and half yellow), Zeodagdas will spawn. Use Razor Kicks, Horizontal
Fire, and Orbit Fires to dispose of them quickly.
After the Zeodagdas (when his life is yellow), tentacles will attack
from the ground. But, red circles will appear and let you know where
they are going to strike. Get out of the red circles and avoid the
tentacles.
When the tentacles come out, it's pure pandemonium! So, avoid the
tentacles and Laser blasts and use Orbit Fires to clear some space.
Note: A well-placed and well-timed Orbit Fire will knock a massive
chunk off Gil Maponos' Life Meter. Aim directly at Gil Mapnos
the moment his protective barrier raises and make sure the last
blast hits his core directly before the protective shell shuts.
A shiny item will appear when Gil Maponos is mowed down. This shiny
doodad is the "Map Selector." Pick it up to end the level.
Note: The Map Selector will allow you to replay any level you have
beaten.

Allows you to return to any stage you have already cleared. Use at
Intermission Screen. Time to go pick up some extra items like those
found behind Bomb Gates (if you want). Also, play some easier
levels to level-up the rest of your legions a bit.

----------------------------------------
I might suggest some heavy leveling-up of your legions before
attempting this level.
You will face some new enemies in this level. Namely, Zombie
Commanders. Commanders have the ability to direct attacks of Zombie
Soldiers. This makes all the enemies they command stronger. Dispatch
the commanders (they look red) in an area and the soldiers will
weaken, both in their attack and defense power.
