Chaos Legion - Strategy Guide (Page 04)
Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Chaos Legion - Strategy Guide (Page 04).
Using Guilt, focus on the Badbh, once the Archanus are gone. The
Badbh will drop a Life Max Up S Gem.
Now, head west and through the open gate. The scene will swirl and
fade.
--------------------------------------------
Scene 2: Blaze a Path! (Ogmas and friends)
--------------------------------------------
In this next area, some Ogmas will be waiting. Summon Guilt to help
you dispose of them. Head on East (ahead). As you near where the
path turns right, or south, some more Ogmas will charge around the
corner. Use Guilt again to put them in their place.
After this, unsummon Guilt and run around the corner to find some
Gunners shooting at you. For this next little bit, just jump over
all the enemies (Ogmas, mines, Gunners, etc.) and follow the path to
the right. Weave to the left (south) past more Gunners and run on
down the trail. Your real target will spawn ahead.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
A cutscene will illustrate a Jenon spawning in front of you near a
gate, along with four Gunners and some floating mines. Oh, and
behind you up the path, more Gunners and Ogmas will appear.
Look scary? Don't worry. Just run toward the Jenon and jump over
the enemies to get back behind the Jenon. You should land between
the sealed gate and the Jenon. You have a very low probability of
being hit back here.
Note: If, when jumping behind the Jenon, you land behind one of the
Gunners and get stuck, just use Malice or Flawed to destroy it.
Then get behind the Jenon.
Now, behind the Jenon, lock-on to it and smother it with Guilt
(HA!). Also, use Ground Zero (hold (S) then release) to set the
Jenon and everything around it on fire.
You'll get Phantom Life and a Life Max Up S Gem for beating it to
the ground.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Scene 3: Destroy the Target! (Ogmas, Badbh, Gunners . . .)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Moving through the gate, you'll notice the path bends North (left).
Be ready because Ogmas will jump out - literally. A few Ogmas will
leap from a cliff on the right and try and pounce on you. Let them
jump down and then run in with Guilt Legion on patrol.
Now, make your way down to another gate where a Badbh and some Gunners
will spawn, among other things.
=== TARGET: BADBH ===
Use Malice or Flawed to dispatch the annoting Gunners and Cannons in
this area first. (There are also Ogmas and mines here.) Then,
lock-on to the Badbh and bust out Guilt. Remember, move around and
attack the Badbh from behind.
You will get Phantom Life and a Defense Max Up S Gem.
Move through the now open gate and turn right. Head East across a
bridge and prepare for pandemonium!
*=====================================================================*
*//////////////////////////* BOSS: 3 DANUS *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
A Danu is an almost invisible bi-pedal monster that is special -
meaning he cannot be directly damaged by Sieg. Only Sieg's legions
can destroy a Danu. Another down side to Special Monsters is that
they can wipe out your legions in basically one slap.
Note: Although this is the "Boss Fight" for the level, there is no
checkpoint before it. So, if Sieg dies, you'll have to replay
the level again from almost the very beginning.
Now, let's get back to the game. Just off the bridge you crossed,
there is an open area. This is where the Danus are nesting. There
are also Cannons resting on ledges above the area as well as Gunners
and Ogmas.
Using Flawed:
-------------
Have Sieg stay back by the bridge and lock-on to on Danu at a time
and send Flawed or Guilt in to attack. Remember to unsummon your
legion when it is about to get hit.
Sieg can beat up on smaller enemies to keep his Soul Meter up and
his legions healthy. (But use Soul Recovery Gems, should you need
to.)
If you send in Flawed to attack a Danu, have them hit the monster
and then immediately unsummon them before the Danu has time to react.
Then, summon Flawed again and send them in to attack. Repeat like a
broken record.
Using Malice:
-------------
Just after crossing the bridge, you'll see a stone ledge to your
right. Jump up a few ledges until you get to the top by the gate.
Here, summon Malice and destroy the Cannon up there. Then, staying
on the ledge, just use Malice to shoot down into the carnage. (Use
Sniper if you want to.) Don't let Malice fall off the edge of the
ledge or it'll get promptly flattened by a Danu. If it does fall off
the ledge, unsummon it quickly and then summon it again so it appears
back on the ledge. Keep shooting from up on high and watch as the
Danus' Life Meter goes down.
Note: If you have already upgraded Flawed Legion to Double Raid, use
it to double-jump up to the highest ledges over the gate and
grab some items (Soul and Life Gems) up above.
Once you blow away the Danus, move through the now open gate and
across the bridge to a little area to the south where the Hatred
Crest is waiting. Grab it.

~~ LEGION LAYOUT (MANDITORY): FLAWED & HATRED ~~
-------------------------------------------------
Note: Make sure that Flawed has been upgraded to Enchant Level 2 so
Sieg can perform Double Raid (Double-jump). You need this and
Hatred Legion to get some secrets, goodies, and a Thanatos Chip
on this stage.
A few things to ponder before traversing the stage:
1) This level is mildly open-ended if have Flawed Legion equipped
with Double Raid. You can use Double-Jump to explore hidden
areas in the level and even skip portions of the level.
2) If you have to, return to the Intermission screen to level-up
Hatred Legion's Attack and Defense levels a bit.
3) Some hidden items in this stage are behind certain gates that
can only be destroyed by specific legions (i.e. A Bomb Gate can
only be destroyed by Blasphemy and a Power Gate can only be
broken by Hatred.) Items behind Bomb Gates are best collected
later, when you gain the ability to return to this stage. (But
I'll tell you about them.) This means don't trouble yourself
with them right now because . . .
4) . . . you will need Flawed and Hatred Legions equipped to
acquire the Thanatos Chip hidden in this level.
So anyway . . . on with the game.
--------------------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Destroy the Target! (Zeodagdas, Badbhs, Jenon)
--------------------------------------------------------
Sieg begins on a stone path. Run on ahead to meet some Zeodagdas that
spawn. (They will continuously respawn.) Use Hatred Legion to help
you blaze a path.
=== TARGET: JENON (OPTIONAL) ===
Ahead, you will notice an archway.
Note on Bomb Gate: Just before the archway, there is a ledge to the
right (east). Just under the ledge on the left
(west) is a Bomb Gate. You can use Blasphemy to
destroy it. Behind the Bomb Gate is a Life Max Up
S Gem. To get it, jump up on the ledge across from
it and unsummon Blasphemy. Now use Crimson Carnage
((T) button) to kick a bomb across the way and
blast the gate. Double-jump across the gap and
grab the gem.
Note on Target: I say this target is optional because you can skip
it all together. If you want to skip it, and get
on with the level, simply double jump onto the
first ledge to the east, just before the archway.
You will land on another path where more Zeodagdas
sprout. Now, run left (North) to another ledge.
Double-jump up there. A small wooden bridge will
be in front of you, along with a sealed gate. Your
next target will materialize here. (If you chose
to skip the Jenon target, just skip down in this
walkthrough to the section labeled: "TARGET: BADBH
ON BRIDGE" under Scene 2.)
Okay, if you choose to find the optional Jenon Target, do this. From
where you begin the stage, run down under the archway and past the
Zeodagdas to a small ramp by a stonewall. The Jenon is here. Also,
two Badbhs will spawn. The Badbhs pose a bit of a threat, so maneuver
around the Jenon. (The Badbhs will respawn if you destroy them. But,
you will get Phantom Life for your troubles.)
Use Hatred to focus on the Jenon (while locked-on to it). Keep away
from the Badbhs and beat up on smaller enemies if the Hatred Crest
gets broken. That way, you can restore the Crest and bring the legion
back to life.
Note on Bomb Gate: Behind the Jenon in the stone is a ledge. You can
double-jump up here to find a Bomb Gate. If you
have Blasphemy Legion equipped, use it to blast
open the gate and find a Defense Up L Gem, an
Attack Up L Gem, and an EXP L Gem. After blowing
up the gate and grabbing the items, you can jump
over the ledge to the East to skip Scenes 1 & 2 of
the stage.
Sorry about all the clutter here. Anyway, once you destroy the Jenon,
you will receive Phantom Life and a Life Max Up L Gem.
----------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2: Destroy the Target! (Badbh and a buncha baddies)
----------------------------------------------------------
After disposing of the Jenon, move through the open gate to find a
small path where many Zeodagdas appear. If you want to, you can
continue South along that path. Many more Zeodagdas, as well as
Galarges (those bird-like things) will pop up here. The path wraps
around to a gate by a wooden bridge. Use Hatred Legion to pummel
the enemies along the path, should you choose to follow it. (When
you take down the Galarges, you'll be rewarded with a bit of Phantom
Life.)
If you don't really want to deal with the madness of Galarges and
Zeodagdas, then right after you pass through the sealed gate where
you beat down the Jenon, there is a ledge. Double-jump up to find
yourself at the next sealed gate by the bridge. This can shave off
some time. (Don't you just love all the options you have here?)
=== TARGET: BADBH ON BRIDGE ===
Your main target here is the Badbh. He will bring his friends,
which consist of some floating mines and two Rouge Ogmas. Since
Hatred Legion might be at a lower level, this could get tough.
The Rouge Ogmas like to breathe fire that can basically almost
kill Sieg. So, lock-on to the Badbh and get Hatred to pummel the
Badbh while you work on constantly keeping the Rouge Ogmas on
their backs.
Use Breakdown (direction on left analog stick + triangle button)
to knock the Rouge Ogmas past the floating mines. That way, they
won't be able to reach you. Now, focus on the Badbh.
Note: Should your Hatred Crest get shattered, use a Soul Recovery Gem
or beat up on the Rouge Ogmas until the crest is restored.
For your trouble, you will get Phantom Life and an EXP S Gem.
Pass through the now open gate.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 3: Destroy the Target! (Zeodagdas, Badbhs, Rudo Garia)
-------------------------------------------------------------
This next area is full of Zeodagdas, Zeodagdas with Lasers, and a
few ledges. On the ledges, scattered about the area, are about 5
EXP Gems. Double-jump up and across to each ledge to grab them.
(But watch out for the Zeodagdas with guns!) Now, head west around
the corner to find some floating mines that spawn, along with a
couple Badbhs.
Run down the path to find a Rudo Garia by a gate.
=== TARGET: RUDO GARIA ===
Here, get between the gate and Rudo Garia. That way, the respawning
Badbhs will have a hard time getting to you. Lock-on to Rudo Garia
and slap him around with Hatred. Use Breakdown (left analog
stick + (T)) on Rudo Garia.
Beware his swinging shield. Unsummon Hatred before he attacks.
Then, bring Hatred out again. When Rudo Garia's shield turns to
dust, he will begin spinning. Watch out. Use dodges (R1+X) and
Despise (press (X) during an attack) to avoid Rudo Garia's attacks.
You'll get Phantom Life and Life Recovery S Gem when Rudo Garia
goes down. Now, walk on west through the open gate and watch the
screen swirl and fade. Checkpoint!!
------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 4: Destroy the Target! (Zeodagdas, Rudo Garia, Jenon)
------------------------------------------------------------
In this next area, Zeodagdas will spawn immediately. Keep going
along the path until you reach a long wooden bridge. By this bridge,
two Rudo Garia will appear.
Note: While running down the trail, beware Zeodagdas with Lasers that
fire from a ledge across the ravine.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
Get behind the Jenon and lock-on. Use Hatred to puummel the Jenon.
Don't focus on the Rudo Garias - just try and stay away from them
while working on the Jenon.
Next to the Jenon are walking mines. Try and keep your legions away
from them.
Note: On a ledge in the cliff nearby is an EXP M Gem. You can use
this ledge as a safe haven to gather yourself if needbe. Jump
up there and send your Hatred Legion in to fight the Jenon.
An Attack Up S Gem and some Phantom Life will be your reward for
beating the Jenon.
---------------------------------------------------
Scene 5: Blaze A Path (A Buncha Nasties & 2 Danus)
---------------------------------------------------
Dash across the bridge (which has now lowered) to meet some more
Zeodagdas. Head east to find a narrow path to the north between
some high cliffs where an EXP M Gem is resting. But wait! Don't
go in there just yet. First, head south to find a path along the
edge of the ravine. It leads to a Jenon and some Zeodagdas with
Lasers. (These are the guys that were firing at you before you
crossed the bridge.) At the end of the path is a Life Restore Gem.
Grab it and backtrack quickly - otherwise you'll have to contend
with a few Galarges (You can slaughter them for Phantom Life.)
Go back to the narrow path between the high cliffs where the EXP M
Gem is. The moment you grab the gem, two gates will close, sealing
you in. And, a band of Zeodagdas will sprout. Clear them all out.
After that, two Danus will simultaneously materialize. Remember
these guys? They can only be killed by your legions, and they will
seriously mess up legions with one slap.
Okay, so there are some ledges on the sides of the narrow path.
Lock-on to one of the Danus and then double-jump on to one of the
ledges. Next, send Flawed down below to attack a Danu. Immediately
after the attack, unsummon Flawed so the Danu will not have time to
react. Then, just summon Flawed again and send them in to attack.
Repeat this process until one of the Danus is destroyed. Then, jump
down below and lock-on to the remaining Danu. Quickly jump back up
to the ledge and repeat the process.
Note: When Sieg is on a ledge, don't stand too close to the edge,
because the Danus can still hit you up there. Make sure you
stay back. Also, if for some reason your Legion is slapped into
oblivion, you can attack the Danus to build up your Soul Meter
and restore your legion crests. However, attacking a Danu with
Sieg will not damage a Danu.
You might get items like Life Max Up S for burying the Danus.
----------------------------------------------
Scene 6: Blaze a Path, again (Baddies Galore)
----------------------------------------------
Alright, after the Danu controversy, run ahead through the open gate
and turn right (east). Be ready to run and jump through this mess
because Zeodagdas with Lasers will immediately shoot at you. Also,
mines are about - be careful.
Note: There are ledges with EXP Gems in this area, but they are
guarded by mines.
The path will turn Southeast and then East once more. Where the trail
heads East again, you will find a ledge on your right. (This is where
your hard work with Hatred and Flawed will pay off.)
===========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP 6 >>>>>
===========================
Jump up on the ledge to find a Rudo Garia spawning and a Power Gate on
behind him. Pummel the Rudo Garia with Hatred and then lock-on to the
Power Gate and use Hatred to bust open the gate.
Note: Only Hatred will by able to destroy this Power Gate.
Move ahead to find a small open area and a Thanatos Chip (Yay!). Now
backtrack to the original path, but look out for mines that have come
to mess you up. Once you get back to the path, head on east.
Note: In order to keep this Thanatos Chip in your inventory, you must
complete this stage (Stage 7) including the boss, Volvor. If
you choose to return to the previous Intermission after picking
up the Thanatos Chip, it will disappear from your inventory, and
you'll have to acquire it all over again (bummer).
Ahead, you'll encounter a Rudo Garia. Fight him to get Phantom Life
and a Defense Up S Gem. On down the trail, some mines will sprout.
You will come to a gate with a Jenon guarding it.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
The Jenon is obviously your main target. A few Galarges and some
Zeodagdas will spawn as well. Lock-on to the Jenon and pummel it
with Hatred. (You can get Phantom Life from the Galarges if you
smack them out of the sky.)
Watch out for any mines that might come walking in.
Note: The other enemies will continue spawning until the Jenon is
destroyed. This means that if you're low on life, just keep
beating up on Galarges for Phantom Life. Soon, your Life Meter
will be full (always a good thing).
You will receive Phantom Life and an Attack Up L Gem for your
troubles.
Pass through the now open gate to watch the screen swirl and fade.
Get ready to fight . . .
*=====================================================================*
*//////////////////////////* BOSS: VOLVOR *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
Sieg ends up in a circular arena. Around this arena are 2 Life
Recovery S Gems and 1 Soul Recovery S Gem. Pick them up - you'll
need them. Around Sieg, four Zeodagdas at a time will spawn (and
keep spawning). But that's not important right now because at the
north end of the area is your standard floating nemesis Volvor.
Part I: Outer Shell
--------------------
First, Volvor has a protective outer shell that you must destroy in
order to expose his weak spots. But, there is a catch. Volvor is
floating too far away from the ledge to be hit. You muist wait for
Volvor to smash into the ground so you can get close to him. But,
when Volvor slams into the ledge, he will send a shockwave through
the ground. You must jump over the shockwave or Sieg will get thrown
to the back of the arena, wasting precious time.
Note: Use the Radar to keep an eye on where the Zeodagdas are in
relation to you.
When Volvor is within striking distance, lock-on and send Flawed to
bash his outer shell. Hatred works well, but is very slow. With
Sieg, dash up to Volvor and hack away at the barrier. Soon, Volvor
will move away from the cliff, and you are forced repeat this process
until his protective shell is obliterated.
When waiting for Volvor, bash on some of the Zeodagdas around the ring
to raise your Soul Energy. Also, double-jump is effective in avoiding
the Zeodagdas and Volvor's shockwave altogether. Despise (jump during
an attack) works well to dodge the Zeodagdas too.
Note: Try and always keep Volvor in your view on the screen so you
know when he is about to slam into the ledge. Also, each time
he moves away from the edge, you will lose him as a target. So,
lock-on again each time he gets close.
Part II: 3 Orbs!
-----------------
Soon, Volvor's outer barrier will shatter, and you'll see three yellow
orbs. These are his weak spots. You must send your legions to help
you attack the orbs when Volvor gets within striking distance. So,
the basic technique stays the same.
However, it's not as easy as cake, err - pie (whatever) because when
his outer shell gets broken, on top of the shockwaves, Volvor will
fire a series of about 7-9 laser blasts directly at Sieg. (Not cool.)
The order occurs like this:
Ground Shockwave
Laser Blasts
Open for Attack (Yes!)
SO, to help you avoid the lasers start at, say, the west side of the
arena and scramble to the east side as Volver fires. (Also use
dodges and double-jump if you have to). When Volvor stops firing
lasers, run up to him and lock-on. Get your legions to slap him
while you jump up and attack orbs - go for the one in the center.
(Watch out for any Zeodagdas that might attack you from behind.)
When Volvor moves away from the ledge and of reach, step way back and
wait for him to get close again.
Note: You don't want to be too close to the edge when Volvor initially
crashes into the montain because you'll get slammed by a
shockwave and a barrage of laser fire.
I know, it would be easier to beat Volvor with Malice, but if you want
the Thanatos Chip, you must use Hatred and Flawed. It's not as hard
as it looks. Just study Volvor's pattern and you'll beat him. You'll
get Phantom Life and a Spiritual Gem for defeating him.
Note: The Spiritual Gem will unlock "Hidden Potential" in any one of
your legions. Really, it gives the legion the ability to level-
up an extra level on all its attributes.

~~ LEGION LAYOUT: MALICE & BLASPHEMY ~~
---------------------------------------
(If you use Blasphemy, you'll be able to blast open some Bomb Gates
for some extra items.)
------------------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Destroy the Target! (Balors, Laser Cannons)
------------------------------------------------------
Ahead of where Sieg begins, some Balors await. Run forward and attack
them with Blasphemy. Make sure Blasphemy is unsummoned and press the
Triangle (T) button to execute the Crimson Carnage attack. Sieg will
kick a bomb at the Balors, setting many on fire. (But this depletes
some Soul Energy, so have Sieg attack the Balors as well to keep his
Soul Energy up.)
After the Balors, you'll enter an open area where three Laser Canons
and an almost invisible Balor Danu appear.
=== TARGET: BALOR DANU ===
Remember the Danu Special Monster that can only be attacked by Sieg's
legions? Well, this guy is the big of Balor variety. First, summon
Malice and quickly walk around the perimeter of the room, pressing (T)
to have Malice shoot and take out ALL the Laser Canons. That way,
your legions won't get blasted into next Tuesday when fighting the
Balor Danu.
With the Laser Cannons out of the way, move back to the narrow path
before the room. Turn around and lock-on to the Balor Danu. Using
Malice, just shoot it until it is destroyed. (You'll get Phantom
Life.)
After this, switch to Blasphemy Legion and unsummon all legions.
=== TARGET: BALOR BRIGADES ===
Two waves of Balors will now drop from the ceiling. Make sure you
are out of the way when it happens. You must dispatch every Balor
in the room.
Use Blasphemy's Crimson Carnage attack and boot some bombs at the
Balors. This will set them on fire. Immediately after this, have
Sieg finish them off with his sword to keep his Soul Energy up.
Repeat this smoking process.
You may notice little packs of tiny Crawlers on the ground. These
don't hurt much, but they do stun Sieg. Usually one sword swing will
tack out a Crawler Pack.
Note: There is a Bomb Gate at the south wall of this room. Behind it
is an Attack Up S Gem. Use Crimson Carnage to bust open the
gate.
With the pest problem under control, pass through the open gate to
the south.
-------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2: Trail Blazing (Balors, Laser Cannons, Badbhs)
-------------------------------------------------------
Just through the gate a few Balors are waiting patiently. Kick
some bombs into them.
Note: On the left (west) wall here is a gate with goodies and a
Thanatos Chip behind it. You can't open the gate, so we'll
worry about that when you have the option to return to this
level later . . .
Move east down the path, disposing of any Balors or Crawler Packs
you come across.
Note: You may notice along the right (or south) wall, there is a Bomb
Gate on a ledge. If you have Flawed and Blasphemy equipped, use
Crimson Carnage to open the gate and then double-jump up to get
a Defense Up S Gem.
Soon, you'll come to a gate with a Seedling floating in front.
=== TARGET: SEEDLING ===
Around the seedling are a few Laser Cannons. Use Malice to shoot
them all down. Then blast the Seedling until it goes down.
Note: If any more Laser Canons appear, simply use Malice to destroy
them and then return to the seedling. If you have Flawed
equipped, you can double-jump up on a ledge to the west where a
Jenon is resting. This guy produces the Laser Cannons. Destroy
it if you want to get a EXP L Gem.
Now, back to the Seedling. You'll get an EXP Gem for beating it.
But, you're not done yet.
=== TARGET: BADBHS GALORE ===
Three Badbhs will spawn by the gate. Quickly lock-on one at a time
and run a bit back up the path. Try to focus on one Badbh at time
and don't get trapped in the midst of all of them, or it's a face-
plant and game over. About 6-9 Badbhs will spawn here - three at a
time. You must destroy them all. Use dodges to avoid them and
Blasphemy's Crimson Carnage attack. Attack the Badbhs from behind
with Sieg to keep his Soul Meter Up.
Pick up any items they drop. This portion may be tough, but just
focus on one Badbh at a time and remember to attack from behind.
Note: If you're using the Flawed Legion, you get double-jump up to the
ledge where the Jenon was and summon Flawed Legion to attack,
unsummoning them after every attack. This is slow, though.
Pass through the now open gate.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 3: Destroy the Target! (Balors, Balor Danu, Rudo Garias)
----------------------------------------------------------------
You'll come to a round room with a giant rock pillar in the center.
=== TARGET: BALORS ===
Immediately, a wave of Valors will spawn. Use Blasphemy's Crimson
Carnage to help you take them all out. Watch out for Crawler Packs
here too! Try and work on keeping Sieg's Soul Meter relatively full.
You'll see why in a moment . . .
=== TARGET: RUDO GARIAS & BALOR DANU ===
After the Balors, two Rudo Garias will spawn by the gate as well as
some Laser Cannons.
Oh, and by the way, a Balor Danu will want to play too. Take out
the Laser Cannons first with Malice and try and draw the Balor
Danu away from them. Then, either lock-on to the Balor Danu with
Malice and shoot until it vaporizes or use Blasphemy's Crimson
Carnage to take it out.
Now, for the Rudo Garias . . . Lock-on to one at a time and use
Blasphemy's Crimson Carnage to bust their shields. One Crimson
Carnage should obliterate their shields. Then, use Crimson Carnage
to hit them once their shields are gone.
They will start to spin once their shields are gone, so watch out.
If you want, run in and hit them a bit with Sieg then quickly move
away. This will keep his Soul Meter Up.
Also, without their shields, the Rudo Garias might charge, but
they have to wind-up a long time before they do that, so you can
see it coming.
