********************   V. GENERAL NOTES ON FAQ   **********************
***********************************************************************

Okay, welcome to the portion of the FAQ where I squeeze everything I
had no idea what to do with! I wanted to talk about a couple things
here.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
A. LEGION LAYOUT
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

When you begin a stage, you might notice that I have these little
headers that show which Legions to use:

~~ LEGION LAYOUT:  THANATOS ~~
------------------------------

These headers are meant only as suggestions and recommendations.
These show the legions that I used to beat the stage, but that doesn't
mean that you have to use those legions. (In some areas, you might
think I was downright nutty to use the legions I did. Well, I probably
was.) But, that's there to help guide you.

=-=-=-=-=-
B. MARKERS
=-=-=-=-=-

I have tried to point out the locations of any movie cutscenes in the
game with this marker:

~~~ MOVIE ~~~
Why did I do that?  I was bored.  (Just kidding.)
I also tried to designate areas where a Thanatos Chip is near.  To do
this, I used this hi-tech, flashy marker:
=========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP >>>>>
=========================
Hopefully, this will alert you to one of the nine hidden items in the
game.  (You'll find out about that later.)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
C. INTERMISSION
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
After every stage, I have included an Intermission Screen that will
tell you some things you need to know, like what goodies you get for
completing the mission.
Note:  You will get items when you complete a stage.  I have tried to
       log which items you receive, however, the specific item could
       change depending on level of difficulty or other factors.
Also, I show a few suggestions about how to level-up your legions.
Use these as guidelines, you don't HAVE to do everything (or anything)
that I do unless I stress it highly.
Don't worry, I won't know if you don't follow the guide to the
letter.  ~8-)
So, why don't we pop in the game and dive into the disorder . . .
***********************************************************************
***********************   VI. DA WALKTHROUGH   ************************
***********************************************************************
Note:  This walkthrough was made using the NORMAL difficulty level.
~~ LEGION LAYOUT:  THANATOS ~~
------------------------------
Okay, you begin on a rectangular stonework pathway.  Bring your sword
and your buddy Thanatos.  When he's on your side, things are good
'cause life's a party and he's your own personal bouncer.  Press (L1)
to summon him.
This stage is basically a training area to familiarize you with the
control and flow of the game.  So, are you ready to crunch some stuff?
Run ahead to a square entrance to a tunnel to find a cutscene where
some four-legged bug-like things known as Balors leap out.  I really
hate spiders, err . . . Balors.
-------------------------------------------------
Scene 1:  Annihilate the enemy! (A buncha Balors)
-------------------------------------------------
So, this isn't as tough as it looks.  Do just as the game commands you
and clobber the Balors.  Run through the tunnel to find a green
glowing item on top of some ledges above you.  Jump up there to grab
it.  This glowing trinket is a Life Recovery S Gem, which restores
Sieg's life by 200 points.  (Very handy.)
After picking that up, turn right and summon Thanatos (if you haven't
already).  Make sure your crest, in the upper left corner of the
screen, is glowing orange.  This means that your legion is in Force
Mode and will mostly attack on its own.  But, you can make a legion
attack more often by pressing the (T) or Triangle Button.
Leap down into the Balor chaos below.  There is a small platform in
the center here.  Have Thanatos attack the Balors, and help him out
by attacking with Sieg.  Do this by pressing the (S) or Square Button.
Note:  The emphasis in this game is combat (duh), but most times you
       WILL need your legion to attack and provide protection because
       hordes of enemies will relentlessly try to mow you down.  And a
       Sieg without his legions is a dead Sieg.
Okay, after wiping the floor with all the Balors, you will receive a
"Scene Results" screen displaying your performance record for that
portion of the level.  And, the Sealed Gate blocking your path will
open.  Go ahead and be brave - walk through it.
----------------------------------------
Scene 2:  Annihilate the enemy! (Balors)
----------------------------------------
Walk through a small corridor to an open area.  A cutscene will
commence where armies of Balors march ominously toward you.
Just let Thanatos do most of the work here.  Press (T) to get him
to attack.  This is also a good time to practice a few techniques
like counter-attack and Lock-on.
Note on "Lock-on":  You can Lock-on to enemies as a focal point for
                    your legions to attack by aiming at the desired
                    enemy and pressing (C) or the Circle Button.  An
                    enemy encased in white electricity is considered
                    "locked-on."  Disable Lock-on by pressing (C) a
                    second time.  (During lock-on, if you focus the
                    camera, it will focus on the targeted enemy.
Note on
"counter-attack":   To perform a counter-attack, press the (S) button
                    and attack just as an enemy is about to attack you.
                    If you pull it off, you will hear a high-pitched
                    ringing sound and the screen will momentarily
                    freeze.  A successful counter-attack maneuver is
                    worth four times (4x) the normal amount of
                    experience points (EXP) for disposing of an enemy.
Okay, back to the game . . . When you dispose of the legion of Balors
(I know, that was bad - but I had to do it), the Sealed Gate ahead
will open.  Go through it.
Note:  You may have noticed that Sieg cannot run while his legions are
       summoned.  Well, Sieg's movement is hindered when his legions
       are deployed.  He can only run when he is alone.
-----------------------------------------------
Scene 3:  Destroy the Target!  (Balors & Badbh)
-----------------------------------------------
In this next open area, you will see a cutscene where many Balors come
out of the stonework again.  Only this time they're accompanied by
their good friend the mammoth-bi-pedal-pain-in-the-butt.  Yeah, that
big green mean-looking thing.
Because that name is rather long, let's call him a Badbh.
=== TARGET:  BADBH ===
Note:  To quickly find the Target of an area, look for any monster(s)
       with "Target" written above its head.
Your primary target is the Badbh.  Lock-on to it and summon Thanatos.
Press (T) to have Thanatos attack the Badbh while you take care of
the Balor problem.
Forcus your efforts on the Badbh, but don't get hit because it hurts!
About "half of your life" hurts.  So, avoid his friendly quick swipes
and get away when he smashes the ground.
Get Thanatos to pummel the Badbh.  If you want to attack as well, I
suggest attacking from behind.  But move around so the Badbh is always
facing away from you because he loves to turn around quickly and slap
your face off.
Note:  The Balors will constantly respawn in this area until the Badbh
       is knocked on his behind.
After defeating certain enemies (like Badbhs) you will receive little
bits of a green aura that restore Sieg's life.  This is known as
Phantom Life.
Okay, after this, the gate will open, and you'll immediately warp
to . . .
-------------------------------------------------
Scene 4:  Destroy the Target!  (Jenon and Balors)
-------------------------------------------------
=== TARGET: JENON ===
This is another open area.  You are in front of a giant ornate gate.
Balors will spawn around a creature that looks like a giant plant pod.
This is a Jenon, which can also be considered a monster generator.
Lock-on to the Jenon and slap away with Thanatos.  Help him out, too,
by attacking and clearing out some of the Balors.
Note:  A Jenon by itself cannot hurt you.  However, the enemies it
       produces will hurt you.  For a certain amount of time, a Jenon
       will continue producing monsters.  When they finish production,
       they become very fragile.
Occasionally, when a monster is destroyed, it will drop an item.  It
just so happens that this Jenon leaves a Soul Recovery S Gem that
restores Sieg's Soul meter by 300 points.  (It looks blue.)
Alrighty, moving right along . . .
Go through the open gate to see that the screen swirls and fades.
Anytime this happens, it means that the game needs to load a new
section of the map.  This is good for you because this acts a sort
of "check-point", meaning that if Sieg bites the dust, you can
restart from the latest check-point or time that the map loaded.
---------------------------------------------------
Scene 5:  Destroy the Target!  (Zeodagdas & Balors)
---------------------------------------------------
Here, there is a narrow path with a few Balors.  On the right (east)
side of the path are a few blocks that line the wall.  Dispose of
the Balors and jump up on the blocks.  Moving ahead, over some
stairs, and leap across a gap to pick up a Life Recovery S Gem on
a block.
Hop down to the path and go forward around a protrusion on the left.
Across from this is a ledge with a Soul Recovery S Gem on the right.
After snagging the Soul Recovery S Gem, move onward to see a
cutscene where impish warriors sporting dual blades will dash at
you.  These little fellows are known as Zeodagdas (fun name, huh?).
=== TARGET: 4 ZEODAGDAS ===
The Zeodagdas are quick and agile.  Use counter-attacks here.  Or,
you could just use Thanatos.  But, the Zeodagdas like to hop around,
so be ready.  I believe there are some Balors here as well.
You can do one of two things here:  either lock-on to each Zeodagda
and take them out individually or unsummon Thanatos and press the
Triangle (T) Button to execute the ultimate attack (The Ignorant
Masses) as well as every other living fiber in the vicinity.  You'll
get some Phantom Life as a reward.
Move on.  (You'll get used to this routine.)
Go up the stairs ahead of you.
--------------------------------------------
Scene 6:  Annihilate the Enemy!  (Zeodagdas)
--------------------------------------------
In this next rather narrow section, you'll see a cutscene where a
bunch of Zeodagdas spawn.  Use Thanatos and some counter-attacks to
dispose of them.
After this, head up the stairs and jump up a few ledges to reach a new
area.  Ahead is a giant archway of a gate.  Rid yourself of any
remaining Zeodagdas and head through the gate.  The screen will swirl
and fade.  Get ready to rumble . . .
*=====================================================================*
*///////////////////* BOSS:  SEVEN BADBH BRIGADE *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
Alright, you begin on a ledge.  Below is one rather messy situation.
To end this rather quickly, step to the edge of the of the ledge.
Make sure Thanatos is unsummoned.  Now, jump down in the arena below
and press (T) to initiate the ultimate attack, The Ignorant Masses.
This attack will slow time and wipe everything out in one hit.
After wiping out the bosses, a cutscene will show the Guilt Crest
rising from the stonework.  Pick it up to end the level.
But (sniff) you'll lose Thanatos . . .
~~ LEGION LAYOUT:  GUILT ~~
---------------------------
--------------------------------------------
Scene 1:  Clear Your Path!  (Balors & Ogmas)
--------------------------------------------
From where you begin, run ahead (North) to a small circular area where
some Balors await you.  Don't forget to summon your Guilt Legion to
help you.  Remember to use Lock-on (C) to help your legion focus on a
target.
After the Balors fall, they will drop a Defense Max Up Gem.
Now, move East to another circular area where more Balors are waiting.
With that out of the way, go North to where some Balors spawn.  Use
your legion to clear a path down the winding stone walkway.  Be sure
to pick up any items the enemies drop (the yellow dots on your radar).
Note:  During this bulldozing session, you might notice a dog-like
       creature that keeps running away.  Well, that's an Ogma, and
       we'll worry about that later.
When you reach the end of the winding path, turn right (south) to
find that Ogma waiting for you.  Okay, once you walk into the
circular area where the Ogma is crouching, many more Ogmas will
spawn, and a gate will close.  Your job is to annihilate them all.
Note:  Ogmas move fast!  Their favorite pastime is to roll into a ball
       and run you over.  Use dodge-flips (R1+X) to avoid their
       attacks.  Or, if you time it right, you can use counterattacks
       to knock them out of ball form.
Pick up any items they may drop.  They will possibly drop an Attack
Max Up Gem.  With the pest problem under control, step through the
gate.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2:  Annihilate the Enemy!  (Balors, Badbh, Ogma - OH MY!)
---------------------------------------------------------------
You will find yourself on a path that bends to the left (southeast).
But look out, the moment you step through the gate, many Balors will
leap from the high walls.
Have your Guilt Legion attack them.  Use Lock-on, force your legion
to attack by pressing (T), and help them out by attacking as well.
===========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP 1 >>>>>
===========================
Ahead of you, you'll notice a large open square.  A cutscene shows you
that in the middle rests a shiny object.  This is a Thanatos Chip.
Step into the square and grab it up.
Note:  If you collect all 9 Thanatos Chips scattered throughout the
       game, you will repair the ultimate legion Thanatos that was
       destroyed in the Prologue.  And that means you'll get to blow
       stuff up again!  (Yay!)
Okay, as soon as you pick up the Thanatos Chip, a cutscene will force
the gate to close and the square to fill with Balors, Ogmas, and that
big baddie - the Badbh.
Take care of the smaller problems first, then focus on the Badbh when
all the other enemies are gone.
Badbhs can be tough without Thanatos, so you'll have to be careful
when fighting them.  I suggest locking-on and sending your Guilt
Legion to fight him.  Also, with Sieg, run behind the Badbh and
continue to attack him from behind.  Keep moving so you stay behind
him.
Note:  A Badbh will attack slowly, but if it hits - it hurts!  So, to
       keep legion from biting the dust after pretty much one hit, do
       this:  when you see a Badbh winding up for an attack, hit (L1)
       to quickly unsummon your legion.  Them, after he swings, summon
       your legion again and make them attack.  Eventually, it will go
       down.  This is effective against one Badbh at a time.
You will get Phantom Life for knocking out the Badbh, and a Life Max
Gem might drop along with a Life Recovery S Gem.
Now, walk ahead (East) through the open gate.  The screen will swirl
and fade.  Ahead is a . . .
*=====================================================================*
*///////////////////////* BOSS:  LOGNAGAISER *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
A cutscene will illustrate how a giant, almost centaur-like thing with
the mother of all swords will bound at you and jump into the ring,
rattling your very bones.
Lock-on to Lognagaiser and send your Guilt Legion to pummel him.  Run
in and stay behind him while attacking.  This will keep your Soul Gage
filled somewhat.
Now, Lognagaiser is armor-clad.  Beat on him and you'll hear a
"clanging" noise.  That's his armor.  When he falls over, his torso
becomes somewhat vulnerable.  Take this opportunity to punish his
torso.  This will knock a good chunk off his life before he gets to
his feet again.  Or, you could just forgo waiting for him to fall and
attack his torso from the front by jumping up and slicing.  (This is
pretty dangerous, though.)
Note:  His attack is wide, so watch out.  He likes to smack anything
in front of him with his sword.  If you have to, quickly unsummon your
legions before he attacks and then summon once more after the attack.
Remember to always stay Locked-on to Lognagaiser.  This will help you
keep tabs on him in the arena.
Continue attacking from behind, but watch out because Lognagaiser
will begin to charge about the arena as well as jump.  If he lands
on you - well, let's just say that's not fun.
Soon, he will drop some metal mines that float about the space.  If
these touch you, they blow your face off along with about a third of
your life.  Avoid these mines as best you can and focus your efforts
on knocking Lognagaiser over.  That will be the only time he is truly
immobilized and vulnerable.
Oh, and by the way, Lognagaiser will send some Zeodagdas after you.
Note:  If you have to, pause the game and search through your inventory
       of items to use Life Recovery Gems and Soul Recovery Gems to
       keep you and your legions healthy.
After the battle, a cutscene will play where the Malice Crest appears.
Pick it up to pass the level.  (Yay!)
| Use this time to level up your Guilt Crest.  Since the amount of    |
~~ LEGION LAYOUT:  GUILT & MALICE ~~
------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 1:  Annihilate the Enemy!  (Balors, Gunners & Archanus)
-------------------------------------------------------------
In this level, your thrust smack in the middle of a wide open area
infested with Balors!  Since Balors are organic beings, summon Guilt
Legion and start pummeling.  In the process of this madness, keep an
eye out for ANY items that drop like Life Recovery or Soul Recovery
Gems.  (You'll need them in the next scene, trust me.)
After beating up on a few Balors, bring out your Malice Legion for the
first time.
A cutscene will run, showing three metallic guns that resemble traffic
lights spawn.  Since, I can't really think of a good name, let's call
these guys Gunners.  Now, get behind the Gunners and make sure your
Malice Legion comes with you.  That way, the Gunners' blasts won't
hurt you.  Lock-on to each one and use Malice to blow them away.  They
will drop a Defense Up Gem.
Okay, so immediately after this, face North and watch as a wave of
floating blue machines known as Archanus fly at you.  These guys are
metallic enemies, so blasting them with Malice by pressing (T) will
take them out in no time.
With the Archanus out of the way, summon Guilt Legion and prepare for
another wave of Balors.  Again, look for any dropped items.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2:  Destroy the Target (2 Jenons and a buncha monsters)
-------------------------------------------------------------
When the gates open, head through the exit and down the small ramp
where a few Ogmas are camped.  These guys are organic, so use Guilt
Legion to knock them out.
Now, at the bottom of the ramp, peek around the wall to the left
(west).  Be careful because this open area is filled with Gunners
that encircle a Jenon.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
The Jenon is your primary target here, but the Gunners can easily
kill Sieg and his friends in about two hits.  Also, there are some
Ogmas, and, oh, some Balors too.  (These enemies will keep spawning
until the Jenon in the center is destroyed.)
So, summon Malice Legion and walk around the North edge of the area,
taking out a few Gunners quickly.  Watch out from crossfire from the
Gunners.  Now, with a few of the Gunners out of the way, quickly
summon Guilt Legion, Lock-on to the Jenon and start attacking it.
Fend off any Ogmas and Balors that attack.  Again, circle around the
Jenon to avoid enemy fire.
Note:  If your Legion Crest gets broken, you can attack enemies around
       the area to build up your Soul Meter.  Also, if you find
       yourself low on life, run back up the ramp on the east side of
       the area and use the wall as cover.  Draw one enemy at a time
       over the wall, so you can destroy them and build up your Soul
       Meter again.
This battle might be a bit tough, but just keep trying to attack the
Jenon hard in little intervals and then take brakes, hiding behind
the wall.  You'll get Phantom Life and a Life Max Up Gem for your
trouble.
Now, press on ahead to the west and down the curving walkway.  When
you get to the end, a cutscene will show the gate closing.
Immediately, some Ogmas and a Badbh will sprout.  Do not worry about
them.  In fact, stay away from the Badbh (but, if you choose to fight
him, you'll get Phantom Life for beating him back into the pavement.)
Head back up the bending walkway to find your primary target in the
open area you just left.
=== TARGET: JENON (again) ===
Didn't you just destroy this guy?  Around this Jenon are a bunch of
Balors.  Summon Guilt Legion and lock-on to the Jenon.
Note:  If Guilt Crest is broken, just beat up on some of the Balors to
       quickly get enough soul energy to restore it.
Focus on the Jenon and constantly move around it lower your chances
of getting smacked.  If the big bad Badbh comes up to join in the fun,
maneuver away from him but keep focused on the Jenon.  The quicker the
Jenon goes down, the quicker all the enemies will as well.
You'll receive an Attack Up S Gem for your valiant effort.  Make sure
Guilt Legion is still summoned.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 3:  Destroy the Target!  (5 Jenon, 2 Gunners, Ogmas, & Badbhs
-------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP 2 >>>>>
===========================
Run back down to the end of the bending path to an open area with two
pillars in the middle.  A cutscene will play, showing you many
monsters and a Thanatos Chip.
=== TARGET: 5 JENON ===
Right off, 3 Ogmas and some Balors will charge at you.  Take care of
them with Guilt Legion.  Now, summon Malice Legion and dispose of the
Gunners behind each pillar.  Then, bust out Guilt Legion again and
prepare to fight.
Note:  The moment you pick up the Thanatos Chip in the corner, Archanus
       will spawn.  Shoot them down with Malice Legion and pick up any
       items that drop.
You could head right over to the clump of Jenons and just start
hacking away, but the Badbhs will cause a big headache.  So, take
the Badbhs out, remembering to unsummon Guilt Legion just before
the Badbhs swing.
You can also draw the Badbhs away from the Jenons.  When the Badbhs
are far enough away, dash over to the Jenons, summon Guilt Legion and
commence the dismemberment.
After you destroy one or two Jenons, some Archanus will sprout.  Use
Malice Legion to rid yourself of the bother.
Note:  The middle Jenon will drop a Life Max Up Gem.
For your effort, the gate will open and you'll be presented with a
Life Recovery S Gem.  Grab it and pass through the gate while the
screen swirls and fades.
