2. M O D E S O F P L A Y
======================================================================

-------------------------------
2.1 - Free Ride
-------------------------------
These sloped courses feature a variety of obstacles and numerous
checkpoints, where extra time can be earned by performing tricks.
Make sure your boarder makes it to the goal within the allotted time,
or you're a loser!

-------------------------------
2.2 - Super Pipe
-------------------------------
Bust multiple tricks and catch tons of air in this gnarly halfpipe
mode. Make sure your boarder makes it to the finish line at the end
of the course within the allotted time and then watch as the total
performance results are displayed. In addition to the points acquired
along the way, the overall evaluation also includes the content and
the form of the tricks performed.

-------------------------------
2.3 - Match Race
-------------------------------

-----------------
2.3.1 - Battle
-----------------
Compete against your favorite rival using this novel racing mode
where trick expertise is key. By busting tricks you can earn attacking
power or extra thrust, both of which can have more effect on the race
outcome than mere speed.

----
2.3.1.1 - Line Versus
----
A completely new and unique aspect to this mode is the ability to
win a match by using the split-screen to your advantage. Execute
tricks toeffect a "line attack" which will move the dividing line of
the split screen, shrinking your opponents screen, making their race
much harder. If done enough times, you can even shut them completely
out, and win.

----
2.3.1.2 - Trick Boost
----
In this battle mode, use the Guard Button to give your boarder a
jet-boost that will propel them at super high velocity. However,
activating the speed boost requires "boost power points" which can
only be received by earning trick points at the trick areas.

-----------------
2.3.2 - Free Race
-----------------
This mode is for those who prefer a pure and unadulterated race.
Select whether you want to compete in time, trick, or total.
You can even set a handicap, setting the handicap will give the
lagging boarder a bit of extra speed.

-------------------------------
4.3 - Ground Tricks
-------------------------------
Perform these tricks while just.. boarding along the ground.

BUTTON COMBO TRICK(POINTS)

/U\ + (B) - - Front Manual(100)
\D/ + (B) - - Wheelie Manual(100)

-The point value grows as you hold the manual longer.
-I am not sure how many points per second it increases.
-Apparently, the more manuals you do, the base value increases.
I've had the base value start at 130, and 180.
-I have only found one mode of play where you get points for
manuals; Line Versus, a Battle Mode in Match Race.
-..It is a good cheap way to win Line Versus, altough.

-------------------------------
4.4 - Specialty Tricks
-------------------------------
Each character has their own specialty moves:
-One-step sepcialties(DJ Ken's moves) are worth 180 points.
-Two-step specialties are worth 250 points, plus the
first trick.
-Three-step specialties(Monica's Born to be Free, etc)
are worth 450 points, plus the first two tricks.

JIMMY:
Nosegrab - - \D/+[R], (B)
Rewind - - - [R], /U\+(B)

AXEL:
Judo - - - (B), /U\+[R]
Karate - - - \D/+[R], [R]

TIA:
Stalefish - - \D/+(B), \D/+[R]
Aquarius - - /U\+(B), [R]

RONNIE;
Method Vertical /U\+[R], [R]
Junk Split - \D/+(B), (B), \D/+[R]

MONICA;
Puff she Puff [R], /U\+(B)
Born to be Free \D/+(B), \D/+[R], [R]

D.J. KEN;
Missile - - /U\+(B)+(Y)
Rocket Dive - \D/+(B)+(Y)

BOB;
Carbine - - /U\+[B], [R]
King Step - - \D/+(B), \D/+[R], /U\+[R]

-------------------------------
4.5 - Point system
-------------------------------

-All tricks are worth base value listed.
-In combos, the second trick is worth ABOUT one and a fourth of it's
base value(eg, an Indy's worth 125, instead of 100)
-..And the third trick is worth ABOUT one and a half of it's base
value (eg, an Indy's worth 150, instead of 100)
-Doing a combo 'Fakie' adds 20 points to the combo.
-Doing a spin 'B.Side' takes away 20 points from the spin.
-Holding a trick will get you a larger 'finish'.
-You cannot do the same trick twice in a row.
-Finish is graded on how complex the combo is, how long you hold
grabs, and how well you land.

-An example broken down:
I did a Fakie B.Side 540, with a Tail Grab, and Mute.

SCREEN SAYS BROKEN DOWN

Fakie 20 - - +20 for doing it Fakie.
Tail Grab 120 - - Tail Grab initial value of 120.
Mute 187 - - Mute(150) + 1/4th Mute Value(150/4 = 37)
B.Side 540 270 - - 180(110) + 180(90) + 180(90) - B.Side(20)
Finish 177 - - It just.. is...

-----------------
4.5.1 - Half-Pipe Grade Scoring
-----------------
The half-pipe courses are ranked in "Grade", and "Total".
Total is just the total number of points you get for doing tricks.
Grade is a ranking of how you did in various areas, these areas are;
-Standard
-Rotation
-Amplitude
-Landing
-Technical

-Standard is graded by how many standard tricks(basic grabs) you do.
-Rotation is graded by how many rotations you do(180+'s, Misty's, Flips).
-Amplitude is graded by how high you jump off the half-pipe.
-Landing is how well you land/how many times you land(don't fall!).
-Technical is graded by specialty moves, complex combos, etc.

"borrow" the best Saloman boards and Bonfire gear have given him more
than a decent head start. While his technique needs work, his speed and
power are quite promising.
