                          E - X - T - R - E - M - E Megaguide
===========================================================================
Progress Report: 9912.06: Added another MK4 Glitch; also added beta for
                          yet another ghastly surprise...
                 9911.30: More info about SFA...
9909.30: Obtained two glitches for MK4!!!
9908.26: Obtained some new info concerning SFA
9905.14: Ditched Power Quest and WH2J for SFA list
9903.10: Info corrected, added Killer Instinct and Power
                 Quest.
9902.08: Finally resurrected the freakin' text version
                 of this thing.
--9705.31: Megaguide 1, version: Alpha created--

Ninja's Note: Okay, let's get things cleared up off the top: this
thing is NOT for profit, and it can only be reproduced electronically. If
you wish to use this on your own website or to use any part of it in a FAQ
of your own, go right ahead...but you'd BETTER give me credit!
Also, this thing is the companion file to the HTML version, in the event
you had a hard time tryin' to print it for just the moves and not the
pics. This Megaguide is (c)1995 - 99 by me, John Evans, jr. All other
copyrights are acknowledged(Midway, Capcom, Nintendo, Tiger Electronics,
etc.). Let's do this!!!

Ninja's Note #2: As you know, SFA's on the way. BUT, I've heard some bad
news concerning the game. SFA, along with Resident Evil, and the Dreamcast
port of SFA3, have all been delayed until January (with SFA3 until February). Of
course, this may not be the case, as a LOT of people swear that RE on GBC
is out now. Even GameCave seems to have RE, SFA, Ready 2 Rumble, Blitz 2000, and
Knockout Kings 2000, all for GBC. What's real? I'm not sure. Anyone care
to clarify?

Ninja's Note #3: Okay, listen up: I've changed my screen name to Shin
Starmie. Ninja Smoke will still appear on this, but the website will have the
NEW screen name. Also: MvsC is out for Playstation in Japan! From what I've
heard, it may be better than the arcade AND Dreamcast versions!!! Well, to me at
least.

Ninja's Note #4: The best setting to see this is in Courier New font at
9pt size, 78 characters per line. Typical FAQ-viewing fare.

Ninja's Note #5: Big News!!! SNK vs. Capcom for the Neo Pocket Color is
due out this month! (As if you didn't know this already) See the beta list
here!!!

The latest version, no matter how long it takes me to get'em done, can
always be found at the following URLs:
(my very own website, Ken n' Chun Li's SMACKDOWN SHACK!!!)
 (the ever-expanding GameFAQs)

-vs. Smoke: At any odd-numbered match(The Pit II), get the toasty man
out with uppercuts. The SECOND you see him, press dn + start.
-vs. Jade: At the match below the [?], your winning round must be won with
kick button only. Unlike the big screens, you CAN block.
-vs. Smoke AND Jade: The match below the [?] is your seventh match AND
a The Pit II stage. Do the code to fight Smoke. In your winning round vs.
him, use you kick button only (five well-timed roundhouses should do it).
-Shang Tsung as Megaman?: Play with him like this: start by not morphing
period. Once you beat your first opponent(you HAVE to fatality),
use that person's powers on the next victim and so on...like Megaman!
-Shang glitch: Do the regular fatality. During the aniamtion, do the stage
fatality as fast and as repeatedly as you can. It'll crash the game. >)
-Scorpion glitch: After it says Finish Him/Her, time a jump so you can do
his fatality motion in midair. If you time it right, he'll land behind
the victim, burning thin air, but the victim burns anyway!
-Scorpion kombo: jump punch, teleport, spear, kick, spear, teleport, spear,
kick, spear, uppercut. Total damage if you can get it all to connect!
-Game Genie codes:(Ninja's Note: these are the best ones, IMHO)
003 - 249 - 19E + 003 - 279 - 19E: computer can't jump!
009 - 48B - 91D: infinite energy
00C - 55B - E6E: timer disabled
00D - ABF - 3BE: infinite continues
(strategy pages coming MUCH later)

                    ---MORTAL KOMBAT 3---
Specific Controls : 1. = fatality, & 2. = babality. No stage fatalities. >(
Ninja's Note: If you wanna do Babalities this time around, DON'T TOUCH THE
BLOCK BUTTON IN YOUR WINNING ROUND!!!
Ninja's Note 2: Oh yeah, just so you know: Stay away from MK1, 3, and 4!
If you have to have handheld Kombat, MKII is the way to go, the only one as
of now that I can honestly say is worth your money!!! MK3 is pretty good, but
the AI will not be merciful to the novice MK3 player.

- Ninja's Note: It has come to my attention that not everything in MK3 is
direction + button. However, I want to make it known to everyone that up to
this point, the way I have the moves listed is the ONLY way I've been able
to get'em to work. This even applies to some finishers.

cHeAtS -n- GlItChEs
-------------------
-Cyrax glitch: When it says finish him, drop a close bomb from close range
and IMMEDIATELY fatality. You'll shred'em, but you can do whatever as
long as you don't hit the shreds! You can do a
babality and it counts as a FATALITY! Very hard to do.
-Strategies for...Sektor/Smoke: Teleport a LOT. Missiles/Invisibility are
okay, but teleporting should be THE most used weapon.
...Kabal/Cyrax: Get used to the ol' FB Trap. Spin and roundhouse constant
for Kabal, roundhouse, close bomb, net, push'em to the blast, roundhouse
 for Cyrax.
...Sheeva: Sweeps, roundhouses, and stomps are the way to go!
...Sub-Zero: Aggression as always. But vs. Shao Kahn, do the old MKII
cheese: freeze him and slide like there's no tomorrow!(this DOES NOT work
on the SNES/Genesis, only on the Gameboy version!)
...Sonya: Mix in everything in a blaze of aggression, especially sweeps
and leg grabs. But against Kahn, stick to this: sweep to push him away,
ring to greet him as he lands. Duck his FBs and repeat.
...Sindel: Scream, uppercut...I haven't beaten the game with her. A Sonya
style strategy(sweep, FB, duck...)might work. I've been told that scream,
roundhouse, scream before they land works.(Thanks to Paul...see credits!)
...Kano: None known. besides, who plays Kano ANYWAY?!
-Extra Continues: At the Choose Your Destiny Screen, press up twice to get
five kredits instead of the normal three!!

                 ---MORTAL KOMBAT 4---
-The controls are EXACTLY the same as MK3's, except there are NO
Babalities...and as always, only ONE Fatality. What is this...Super MK1
Turbo?! Also, it's been brought to my attention that moves have to be done
slowly in order for them to work properly. Thanks to Paul (ccourt96@aol.com)!
-The hidden slot on the select screen is Reptile. Confirmed!!!
-The game WILL work with Gameboy(but why would you waste your money? MK3,
Pokemon, and SF2' all look bad on the green screen), Gameboy Pocket, and
Super Gameboy. Sad to say, some characters look downright NASTY on GBC, some
worse than the MK3 peeps!
-It's kinda shameful that Midway/Williams didn't put more time and effort into
MK3 and MK4. Not only could those two games have been MUCH better, but a lot
of glitches could've been avoided. Also, MK4 was clearly rushed-I mean, com'on
now, the Kombat Kode system was left untouched from MK3!

Tricks of the Trade...the Next Cheater's Nation
-----------------------------------------------
Not very much to post about that version. The KKs from MK3 all
work, even the old Smoke UKK and Vs KK(they now are for Reptile).
Here are some glitches, along with another one that I was just sent! They
sound pretty vicious, and they also sound harder to pull consistently than
MK3's! So, here ya go. Have fun!!!
-Free Finisher: After you beat Shinnok in the winning round where you're
supposed to finish your opponent off when you win, it doesn't say finish
him...but when he falls to the ground, and it says (character) wins, press
the motions for that character's finishing move and it will work!
-Free Finisher II: the One-Button Fatality: When you're Scorpion in the
winning round(just like the first glitch), before you kill your opponent,
punch him and keep "B" held down. When it says finish him/her, don't do
anything! Only keep "B" held down. When your opponent falls, it should do
Scorpion's Fatality.
-Free Finisher 3: Similar in concept to the first two, defeat your foe with
Scorpion's spear. You'll automatically throw the opponent upon bringing'em in,
and still get to see the finisher. (And this is the hardest of all. If the one
who sent it to me is reading this, what's the timing?! I only got it to work
ONCE!)

As I said, they seem pretty tough to do. But I bet it works with anyone. So,
if the people who sent me these glitches is reading this, could you confirm
whether or not they work for any character?

Ah, yes. I had a Gameshark code to play as Shinnok, thanks to Paul again, but
I have to go check that particular email he sent me to retrieve it and post it
here EXACTLY as he had given it to me. If you're reading this, Paul, did you
find any moves for Shinnok yet?

                   ---STREET FIGHTER II'---
-Oddly, some animation looks the SAME(Ken/Ryu/Chun's d.Short/d.Roundhouse)in
certain attacks.

Ninja's notes
-------------
-Remember: this puppy's Color only! Also, unlike previous fighters(save for
World Heroes 2 Jet, the only other one I know of to have it), SFA has a
Training Mode. Yeah...now we're talkin'!!
-The Super Meter system, judging from the screenshots, now works like
X-Men vs. Street Fighter: only one level shown at a time, but three
levels. That'll probably mean that Super Combos are always doing Lv3 hits
(and maybe even damage)at even Lv1, just like XMvsSF and the other vs.
games.
-No word on the following tricks: Dramatic Battle(Ken/Ryu vs. Bison), the
code to play as Dan, the code to fight Akuma(the easy way), and Akuma's
Raging Demon. However, as of this version, everyone is said to be in the
game, with all moves intact. Now, HOW is the big C gonna pull those things
off with only TWO BUTTONS???
-Except for using the SFII'/KI/KoF/RBS button system(tap B=Jab, press B for
Fierce, etc.)and the note about Supers, the gameplay is the same. If you
have SFA on Psx or Saturn and you have a GbC, then you should already know
the 411. Therefore, there's no need to list the controls as they too are the
same. ^_^ Yatta ze!!!
-Since you only have Jab and Fierce, it's uncertain how Rose's Soul Reflect
will function. Likewise, how Charlie will have the Step Kick AND the Jump
Sobat is beyond me. They may follow MK's sweep/roundhouse lead(ba+k for
one, fw+k for the other). The other things where buttons come into play are
listed above...
-Currently, it's unknown what will be used for taunts, though it more than
likely will be the select button a la the Psx SF games(and the Snes SFA2).
-Hmm...the sprites STILL have their MK3-ish look(thanks to Capcom not doing
it themselves!), but the backgrounds look better and better. Pray for a
miracle with the character sprites!
-Again, this game is said to have been delayed, so until anything comes up,
there's no way to know WHAT to expect from this game. Oye...
-ACs with ba-db-dn+punch: Ryu, Ken, Birdie, Bison, Charlie, Sodom, Rose
-ACs with ba-db-dn+kick: everyone else @_*(hey, there's only 13 peeps!)
-Overheads will have a * to denote them
-Things that must be done when knocked down will have a -- by them
-Supers will be in caps

None known as of now, but here are some "Beta" codes to try when it comes
out:
-Use hidden peeps: hold start/select(maybe both!), go to random select(if
there), and then...
       Akuma: ba x 3, dn x 3, B+A
       Bison: ba x 2, dn x 2, ba, dn x 2, B+A
       Dan: (unknown; not enough buttons)
-Fight Akuma: With anyone BUT Akuma, get 10 Super finishes and three
perfects. Without losing. No, it's NOT as easy as it sounds.
=====Temporary section: Questions on SFA=====
1.: Will you be able to save Dan, Akuma, and Bison to the cart so you don't
have to do the codes(should they be there)EVERY time you fire up SFA(like you
have to with MK3, MK4, KoF95, KoF96, SS, SS3...the list goes on)???
2.: What will Capcom do as far as the Super Meter, since it still has three
levels?
3.: Are SFA's graphics gonna get ANY better between now and release time?
(them screenshots I saw in EGM had SFA lookin' like MK4 Turbo! The Super
Meters were the best looking things on there...)
4.: Since SFA's comin' out soon, are there ANY chances of SFA2, SFA3,
XMvsSF...?!?!
5.: If the Super Meter system does take after XMvsSF now, will Rose lose
her best Super-involved combos?(like the old Lv1 Friends, j.Hp-s.Hp-Lv2
Aura Soul Spark joint...that one was SWEET!!!)
---Email me with your opinions, fellow Mortals!---

                     --KILLER INSTINCT--
specifics: qcdb = df-dn-db(can be done from fw, ALMOST like a half circle)
-Cinder and Riptor caught the wrath of the EX axe.
(It's all good, IMO, I hated those two cheap bastards anyway!)
-Fulgore and Jago are typically compared to Ken and Ryu of SF, since they
both have fireballs and Dragon Punches. Well, let it be known that
Fulgore's has the diagonal reach like Ken's, and Jago's has the vertical
climb and damage like Ryu's. So there. And yes, I made up a name for Jago's
Wind Kick. Find it yourself...you might like it. Jago fans, email me and
tell me what you think of it!!!
-Surprisingly, no moves were lost! Of course, KI, SFII', BAT, KoF, RBS, and
whatever else uses the tap/press method for weak/strong hits anyway...
-Many combos, however, were lost. According to the info I have, there were
two combos(glitches, actually)ADDED! Natch...I miss that old combo I do
w/Orchid on the Snes...which is there after all, heeheehee!
-As always, you can only do Ultras during your enemy's flashing bar.
-Linkers will have a * beside them!!!
-This is a pretty good game. Only thing that hurts it(and BADLY!)is what I
call the Super Mario Allstars syndrome: in porting the game, the backgrounds
are still sized the same(pretty big), but the sprites are WAY too small,
making combos you're used to doing on Snes or in the arcade a PITA to do.

-This game looks great. Some screenshots I saw in the December issue of Tips &
Tricks indicate that there are some of the classic Super Street Fighter II Turbo
stages (ahem...Ryu's) in there.
-As far as how the super meter system will work, well, judging from a pic of Ryu
blasting someone with the Shinkuu Hadou-ken, it's clearly going to take after
the Street Fighter Zero (Alpha) games as far as motions, and may very well
incorporate SFZ3's Ism Select system for the supers. Similarly, that
tends to make it very likely that Chun Li will be a charge character, rather
than her MvsC incarnation.
-Tag Team ability, Team Supers, or any other XMvsSF goodies? Yeah, right!!!
-unconfirmed moves will be shown with a *

Ninja Smoke's Rumor Central!
============================
Note: Until any info comes to confirm or deny it, don't believe it! If I
suspect it to be false, my suspicions will be in parentheses. If I KNOW it's
crap, I'll go into detail about it.

-Metal Gear Solid for the Gameboy Color.(Yeah, right. I think it's bull.
Why? Because, Konami ain't give up squat in the way of any info or release
dates. Also, there aren't any screenshots. The Game.Com, however, has one
or two screens on the Tiger Toys website, AND it's probably out by now.
THIS JUST IN: Well, it seems that the magazines are back to talking about
it. I forgot which one, but MGS on GBC was THE most wanted GBC game! Gee, is
this game for real or is it bull? You make the call.)
-Tomb Raider for the Gameboy Color.(I think this is bull for the exact same
reasons as MGS for GbC: Eidos ain't say or show jack.)
-A fully colorized remake of Megaman 5 for the GbC.(Nope, doubt it. Even on
the Super Gameboy, MM5 wasn't full color to begin with.)
-Sega's Sakura Taisen(aka Sakura Wars) for the GbC.(Come on, now, this was a
Sega Saturn RPG, by Sega, I believe. WHY would they waste money helping out
the competition?!)
-A version of Pokémon Stadium for the GbC.(WHAT EVER.)
-All those stupid "Pokégod Codes" for Pokémon. This IS bull, and here's my
personal confirmation: except for different codes due to format, most Game
Genie and Gameshark codes do the same thing. Anything involving items and
the pokémon on both devices used the EXACT SAME VARIABLES(ex.: 15=Mew). So,
if you use the set of codes to fight/catch any pokémon for the Game Genie
and tag in the alleged "Pokégod" variables, when the game goes into a battle
on the map, the game will crash instead of loading, and you'll have to reset
the unit. Them "pokégods" ain't gods at all, they just some of the new peeps
for Gold and Silver, with some of them being complete rumors. The pokédex in
Red/Blue/Green/Yellow can only go up to 151, the Gold/Silver one goes to
251 or so, and you can't send Gold/Silver peeps to RBGY, remember?! So if
someone tells you they can get Pikablu in the RBGY versions, they don't have
a clue as to what they're saying. Tell them thusly. And for the record, they
changed Pikablu to Marrill, which is closer to its Japanese name, Mariru. :)
-The "Over Lv100" code letting you fight ANY pokémon at high levels.
This is a FAT rumor, fat enough to be a straight-up lie. Here's the proof:
Most carts I've accessed this for(my red, my fianceé's blue, my friend's
blue - another of my friends did it on his blue by himself after I told him
how)generally have only two pokémon and Missingno., except mine, which only
has one for some odd reason. On my cart is Rapidash at Lv170.
On my fianceé's cart, she has Aerodactyl at Lv180 and Rapidash at Lv168. My
friend Junior has Electrode at Lv146 and Clefable at Lv138, and my friend
Richard has(so far)Abra at Lv143(meaning when you give it Rare Candy to make
it Lv144 and evolve it, Kadabra won't get Psybeam like it would at Lv16). If
you've got a Gameshark, on the other hand, then there's a little truth to it.
HOWEVER, be warned that more often than not, putting them in the PC WILL drop
their levels! My Lv230 Starmie went down to about Lv160, and my Lv253 Jynx
went to Lv180, while my Lv255 Moltres stayed put.
THIS JUST IN: As you know, the ONLY way to even make this work in the
Yellow cart is with a Gameshark. BUT, as far as RGB, I just learned that
there CAN be variety. My friend Richard, who recently found Charizards at
Lv148, only found Abras before. My fianceé found Lv174 Golducks. Hmmm. I
suspect there may be some truth to this after all.
-The "infinite items" code. Gimme a break, already!!! We all know about ol'
Missingno., right? Guess what: the sixth item in your list only goes to well
over 100(if it's 99 Full Restores, for example, then you'll have 120 of'em
just for encountering Missingno.!). Now, MAYBE there's something that's close
to infinite usage of items for the JAPANESE carts, but in the US carts, it's
pure bull. Besides, most of what's real can be found in Pokémon guides. Oh,
and again for the record, the ONLY way to do it on Yellow is with a Gameshark.
This may not even work anymore for Gold and Silver. Anyone care to verify?
-Crystalis for GbC.(I don't know about this one. It's an old Nes game by SNK,
and I've heard absolutely NOTHING about SNK returning to developing stuff for
Nintendo. Besides...why would they when they've got their own system now? And
with the exception of Toshinden, all of SNK's titles on the Gb were done by
Takara, not SNK themselves. You make the call on this one. Besides, Crystalis
WASN'T very forgiving with the swords anyway. You had to hold the button to
build your shot! Using the sword itself to attack was nearly impossible to do
without getting hit yourself.)
-Marvel Super Heroes for GBC. Please, this is bull to the extreme. I was told
that the GBC can't even handle the likes of XM/MSHvsSF or MvsC...though I have
thought up ways it could...so how can it do the original MSH?!
-SNKvsC for Psx. Sorry, I can't tell you this time. I had read in a magazine
that Capcom chose not to do MvsC for Psx, since they didn't like how the first
two joints came out, but they changed their minds, so, who knows?

Brian Preble(webmaster@gamesages.com): The MKT section is the other

Gb after all these years!!! YEAH, WHAT!!!!
Kao Megura(kmegura@yahoo.com): FAQ man extraordinaire and all around

have the moves to list here!!!
-KI: tnelson804@aol.com: Whoever you are, you gets mad props for the KI
moves and tricks!!! I think): For even having the Saturn exist so I
could practice at SFA; also for being the superior 32-bit system. May the
mighty Dreamcast fill the void where the Saturn's legacy couldn't fill in
the US market...
