Intro ------------------------------------------------------------ I was bored one day, and searching the Tales of Phantasia message boards, when I saw someone asking for an FAQ. I thought about it for a while, and here we are. 'Nuff said. ------------------------------------------------------------ 2. Playable Character's Strengths ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Cless ------------------------------------------------------------ Cless is the fighter of the group. He can use a lot of skills and has a lot of HP. He can use swords, spears, axes, and halberds. ----------------------------------------------------------- Chester ----------------------------------------------------------- Chester is an expert bowsman. He has a small array of special moves, but he's pretty powerful, anyway. ----------------------------------------------------------- Mint ----------------------------------------------------------- Mint's the group healer. Her attack power is very low, but she is essential to be in your party. She uses rods. ----------------------------------------------------------- Klarth ----------------------------------------------------------- Klarth summons magical spirits in battle to attack his enemies. He has a pretty wide repetiore of summons, too. ---------------------------------------------------------- Arche ---------------------------------------------------------- Arche is a half-elf magician. Like Klarth, she has a wide array of magical attacks. ---------------------------------------------------------- Suzu ---------------------------------------------------------- Dunno about Suzu yet... ---------------------------------------------------------- 3. Controls and Main Menu ---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- Controls on the Overworld ---------------------------------------------------------- D-Pad: Move A: Accept Questions, Talk B: Run (Hold) L: Nothing R: Shoot the Sorcerer Ring if you have it equipped Start: Nothing Select: Access Main Menu ---------------------------------------------------------- Controls in Battles ---------------------------------------------------------- D-Pad: Move A: Attack with your held weapon. Pressing this in conjunction with the D-Pad does diffent moves B: Use one of your skills. You can set these in the main menu. L: Hold L and press A and B to use one of your shortcut moves. You can also set those in the main menu. R: Hold R and press left and right to change targets. Pressing up will change the direction your party faces. Pressing down tells your party to stay put. (You can still move.) Start: Change Gameplay modes. Select: Access a mini-menu, letting you directly tell your teammates what skill to use. ---------------------------------------------------------- Main menu ---------------------------------------------------------- Pressing Start will let you see your Gald, time and number of battles you've fought. The main menu has ten sections in this order. Skills Equip Items AI Form Titles Cook Status Custom Save Now, we'll look into these in with a little more detail... ---------------------------------------------------------- Skills ---------------------------------------------------------- Set the skills you learn to the four skill slots. Pressing L empties a slot. And pressing Select accesses your shortcut slots. You can assign those to other party members' skills, not just your own. ---------------------------------------------------------- Equip ---------------------------------------------------------- Equip stuff. Pressing L empties a slot. Only Cless can go without a weapon. ---------------------------------------------------------- Items ---------------------------------------------------------- Use your earn or bought items. L asks you to discard that item. ---------------------------------------------------------- AI ---------------------------------------------------------- Set the AI of each party member. Pretty much self-explainatory... ---------------------------------------------------------- Form ---------------------------------------------------------- Change your party formation. Select a guy and move him across the field. Also, select a picture and moving it to slot 1 lets you play as that character. ---------------------------------------------------------- Titles ---------------------------------------------------------- Not sure what these do, but some of them are funny. ---------------------------------------------------------- Cook ---------------------------------------------------------- Cook to recover HP and TP. ---------------------------------------------------------- Status ---------------------------------------------------------- Not much to say, except pressing A lets you change the character shown's name. ---------------------------------------------------------- Custom ---------------------------------------------------------- Change settings, such as window color. ---------------------------------------------------------- Save ---------------------------------------------------------- Save or put the game into sleep mode. You can save on a purple star pad or on the World Map ---------------------------------------------------------- 4. Version History ---------------------------------------------------------- V1.0 Added up to the Morlia Gallery in the walkthrough, and skills for everyone up to the level I was at. ---------------------------------------------------------- 5. Walkthough ---------------------------------------------------------- The game starts with five people fighting, four-on-one. The swordfighter runs to attack the blonde-haired man retaliates, almost killing the swordfighter. The magician yells at the blonde-haired man, who looks down at the sword fighter, and says something. Ticked, the magician screams at the blonde-haired man, then casts Indignation upon him. The blonde man stutters, then turns into a ball of energy and flies away through time. After the credits, he appears in a new area, a masoleum. Apparently, four people were waiting for him. Together they used two pendants to seal him away... ---------------------------------------------------------- 5.1 Home and Spirit Forest My level at start of chapter: 1 ---------------------------------------------------------- After the cutscene, and you have full control, walk back to the house you saw Chester come out of , and talk to the little girl on the top floor. She gives you an item called Mascot. It's funny, because it's a doll of you! Other than that, I have NO clue what it does... After that, try to exit town to the south. You'll be stopped by an old man, and talk for a little bit. Then exit to the south. Then go south, going between the two mountain ranges. You'll be taken to a forest area. Going down, you'll come across a wild pig. It runs away to the right, so follow it. Go up when you can, it'll lead to a life bottle. Next, go back to the path you where on when you saw the pig, and go all the way down until you are at a body of water and can't go down anymore. Go right, and you'll see the pig again. It runs away, so give chase once again. Go right, then up, and you'll arrive at a big tree. A cutscene happens, then you fight the pig. ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Wild Pig, Piglet x3 Not much to say, just put up a strong front by attacking and healing with Apple Gummies when needed, although you shouldn't need them. ---------------------------------------------------------- Afterward, you'll hear the village alarm ringing, so rush back to the village. Go to your father's sword school (where you started the game at). After the cutscene, exit town. Before you can, though, Cless will realize that they were after the pendant around his neck. On the world map, head north and go between the mountain ranges. In the mountains, you'll be taken to a new area. Inside there, Cless will notice a statue. Hold A and you can push and pull it. Pull it out of the way, and go north. The path through the mountain is VERY linear, so I won't bother describing where to go. Just make sure you grab the orange gummie and life bottle. Once you're back on the world map, head north and enter the town. ---------------------------------------------------------- 5.2 Euclid and the masoleum Level 4 ---------------------------------------------------------- DO NOT buy anything from the weapon or the armor shop. You'll just lose it in about 5 minutes. Buy Apple Gummies if you feel the need to, though. When you're done, head into the house in the upper left corner of town. After a cutscene, talk to the man in that house, and choose the first option. After another cutscene, check the door, then check the hole in the wall, then run around like an idjit until Cless hears a voice. Afterward, check the hole again, and choose the first option. Go through and check the lady. Chose the first option to pry the sword out of her body. Equip the sword, and now you can open the locked doors using it. Open the upper-right door and grab the cheese out of the bag. Then, go down and talk to the girl in the cell. Her name is Mint, and she joins your party! Yay! Now go down all the way, and check the sewer grill twice. Go through it. At the intersection, go down, and pick up the Apple Gummie, then go up and pick up the Lemon Gummie. Then go left and save at the save spot. Then go up, and take a left at the intersection to pick up a Wood Shield. Go back to the intersection and go right this time. Pick the Apple Gummie up, and go up through the door. Go right, and up the stairs to pick up a Savory. Go up, and then go up though the staircase (somewhat) hidden in the wall. You'll come to another intersection. Go up to grab a Rapier. Equip it if you stab a lot. Go left and save at the Save Point. Go to the upper-left from the Save Point, grab the chest for 1000 Gald, and return to the Save Point and save again. Go to the upper-right and start the Boss fight! ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Flying Armor Knight, Slug x2 Kill the slugs, and then use jumping attacks to take down the Flying Armor Knight. Have Mint heal when neccessary. ---------------------------------------------------------- Afterward, just take the path he was guarding outside. Go down to initiate a cutscene. When you're back in control, go outside and try to leave, initiating a cutscene. Afterward, Chester joins your party again, and ANOTHER cutscene happens. After that, go to talk to the guy by the front door, and buy stuff from him. When you are done buying, leave to the world map. Then go right and enter the first cave you see. Welcome to the Masoleum! Go up and go right, across the bridge. Now you can choose to either go up and fight the ghost for a mixed gummy,or go to the left to talk to the old man. Either way, after talking to the old man, you'll learn Ougi Majinhienkyaku and go up to continue. Go until you get to the Door Hall. From left to right, through the doors are a Zombie and a Protect Ring, a Zombie and a Spectacles, Magic-Sealed Double-Doors, a Zombie and a Hourglass, A Zombie and a Chain Mail, and a Zombie and a Rune Bottle. After you're done fight Zombies, exit on the right. Go through the next room, and the next room, AND the room after that. First, go up and get the Saber, if you haven't gotten one already. Then head back to the intersection and go through the door. Follow that path and grab the Chain Mail. Equip it on Chester if Cless already has one, then go back to the intersection, and walk into the recess in the lower wall. Walk around the statue, and go right, grab the milk, and save. Now check the statue. Boss fight! ----------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Golem Like the last two bosses, just put up and strong front, and heal when needed, and you'll win. ----------------------------------------------------------- After the battle, heal and save again. Then pull the statue into the hall, then down, then left, resting it on the switch. Go through the door you just opened, and grab the chest, which contains the key item, Lace Ruby. Now you can get through the Magic-Sealed Double Doors! But first head back out into the hall where you fought the Golem, and go all the way to the right. Go around the statues, and into the door. Grab the Cheese, Orange Gummy, and the Panacea Bottle, then head back to the Door Hall, and go through the Double Doors. Go up, and step on the big yellow star pad. First, take the top platform to the left, and flip the switch. Next, take the top platform to a Rabbit Symbol and some Milk. Go back to the starting platform and take the lower platform to the right. Along the way, you'll drop the Lace Ruby. Go down to try to pick it up. Instead, you'll knock it even deeper into the dungeon. Nice going, Cless. Go back up and stand on the weird symbol panel to start flying. Go back to the platform you started on, and go down the stairs. QUICKLY go down and grab the jewel. Keep going to grab a Lavender. Then QUICKLY go back up the stairs. Go back to the Flying Panel, and go up through the Double Doors. Save, then go up for a boss fight! ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Golem x2 Same strategy as the last three bosses... ---------------------------------------------------------- Go up, for another cutscene, and the return of the blonde man, Dhaos! Gasp! That's the end of this chapter! Yeah! ---------------------------------------------------------- 5.3 Trip to the past! Conquer Sylph's illness! Level 7 ---------------------------------------------------------- View the cutscene, then once you're in control, head into the village. Head through it until you get another cutscene. Afterward, go into the weapons shop, go in front of the boy at the desk, then go right, up then left and talk to him. He gives you the Ougi Majinsouhazan. Exit the village to the north once you buy everything you need. Head north, through the mountains again, and back into Euclid. Enter from the north, and head into the house to the right of the band. Cutscene AND a new party member! (Although he's pretty useless right now...) Go buy a LOT of Panacea from the store. You'll need it if the Harpies in the next area poison you. Okay, now go back to the World Map, and stop at the single house you see. Go inside after the cutscene, for another cutscene! Afterward, equip Klarth with the Opal Ring. Then exit back to the World Map. Go up into the city, and buy a rope and a pickaxe, along with Gummies, if you have the money. Go back to the Lone House, and go up. Check the rock to break it using your pickaxe, then go up, and to the right. Run into the four floating Slyphs to start a Boss fight of sorts. ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Sylph x4 Same strategy as the OTHER bosses... According to the Monster Zukan, they're weak against Earth... Tch! Like we have any earth moves or weapons right now! ---------------------------------------------------------- Afterward, go up, and then right, through the two tornadoes. Go up again, and go into the cave. Jump into the Sylph's air current, and save at the Save Point. Go to the post above the hole and press A to attach a Rope there. Magically, you still have that same rope you used. Go down it, and break the cracked wall door like you did the rock. Go right at the next intersection to pick up a Spectacles. Go back to the intersection and go down, then and break the wall. Go left, and climb the rope. Now go attack Sylph, head on! ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Sylph x3 Easy, easy, easy. Attack and heal, attack and heal. ---------------------------------------------------------- Go to the left and down, and outside. Grab the Kite Shield, and the Amber Cloak, then go back in. Go to where you fought Sylph just a few seconds ago, a go right a little bit, then go up. You should climb some stairs, and see poison clouds. As you go through that area, you should see a bubbling spot on the ground. Take notice of it, then go right, and down, knocking down the wall. Go in, and pull the rock into that hole you just saw. Now the mist is gone! Go all the way right, and then go down. Put a rope on the stake, and go down. IF YOU SEE A GUY WITH A WHIP, RUN AWAY. Go right, save, then go down. At the intersection, go down, and to the right. Grab the rock, and take it all the way down, then all the way left. Then take it up and put it in the hole. The mist won't go away this time, but don't worry, you're about to get rid of it. Now go down and right all the way. Push the rock out of the way, and go through and break down the wall. Pull it up, grab the chest for a Emerald Ring, and push the rock into the hole. Now go out and exit the cave completely. Go all the way to the right, then up. You SHOULD be in a new area. Go right and walk in front of the tree on the far right. Cutscene... And now Klarth has a new move! Exit to the world map now. Now go back to the village. Go through the south exit, and enter the forest. Go back to the tree for a cutscene, then come back to the city above the lone house. ---------------------------------------------------------- 5.4 The pink-haired girl and Demitel's Castle Level 13 ---------------------------------------------------------- Go up and talk to the pink-haired girl, then go north of town, to the Port town. Wander through town until you see a guy by a boat. Talk to him. You'll get four options picking where to go. If he is on the north end of town, which are Weapon Shop, Armor Shop, City Hall, and the south end of the town. Make sure you buy the Ougi Shuusousenretsuha from the lady in the Armor Shop. Afterward sail back to the north end of town (first option if you're not there already) and pick choice 3 to go to city hall. Go up, and you'll see a lady talking to a guy with green hair. Talk to her, and go back to the north end of town. Go right and talk to the captain of the boat. Choose choice 1, and, if you've got the Gald (1600), you'll sail to Demitel's Island! Go up, grab the Spectacles and enter the castle. Go straight up, and open the middle curtains, and then go to the left, and go into the door. Save, and then go down, and enter the first door you see. Klarth'll say something, then go up, and grab the semi-hidden chest behind the vase. Step onto where the chest was, face up, and check the dresser. You'll get Demitel's Key. Now go back to the main hub(room with the prisms), and go right this time. Go to the right, and go through the door. Grab all the treasure, (Apple Gummy x2, Verbena, Savory, Elixer, 430 Gald) and go back, and go up this time. Unlock the door, and go in. Check the tree THREE TIMES, then boss fight! ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Tree x2 Might be hard, if the trees repeatedly hit you with acorns. Otherwise, use the same strategy as the Golems. Fire attacks work wonders here, but you'd have to have a crazy level to actually have any... Also, Ougi Shuusousenretsuha and Akisazame work somewhat well here, too. Oh, and according to Spectacles, they're weak against fire and wind? ---------------------------------------------------------- Go back to the main hall. Turn the middle prism twice, the right one three times, and the left one three times. Afterward a new staircase will open by the entrance. Go back to the boat, heal, save, and then go down those steps. Go down, and take a left to get a Reverse Doll. Go back and go right this time. Keep to the lower path to get an Armet Helm and a Coresesque. Then go back and take the upper path this time, save, and go up. Boss fight! ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Demitel, Golem, Ghost Take out the Golem first, it's pretty easy, then concentrate and the Ghost. If you see Demitel charging for a magic attack, hit him and try to stop him. Klarth's Sylph moves works well against him. Spectacles say no elemental weakness, either. ---------------------------------------------------------- After the cutscene, Arche joins your party! Yeah! Anyway, go out and back to the Port town. Go to the boater, and choose choice 4, Then go right, and get on the boat. Go inside the boat for another cutscene. Afterward head to the deck of the ship and talk to the lady. FIGHT! ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Knight Doesn't matter if you win or lose, so just try your hardest. ---------------------------------------------------------- After battle, you'll get a cutscene, then arrive at your destination. Buy everything you need, then go rest in the inn. Cutscene, choose first choice twice. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE BEFORE CHOOSING. Go right, avoiding the guards, and go through the first door you see. Boss! ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Jahmir, Mercenary x2 Strong front, once again, and hit her when she tries to charge magic. Spectacles say she's weak against darkness, but, once again, we have no darkness moves OR weapons... ---------------------------------------------------------- After the cutscene, go down, then right all the way, then go down(up?) the stairs. Talk to EVERYONE in here, and buy the Tractor Beam and Thunder Spells for Arche. Exit, then go to the building in town with the mug on it. Go in, and into the basement. Talk to the guy in front of the plant and buy Ougi Majinsenretsuha. Go talk to the barkeep to get your Morlia Pass. Great! Now exit to the world map. Go down, and left, across the bridge. Go down all the way and follow the water to get to a place where you can get Ougi Houousenretsuha for free! Now, go back by the castle on the world map, then take the right bridge this time. Go down, the left, then down again, and you'll come to a house and a old man. Talk to him twice, and buy Ougi Shishihenkyaku. Go back to the castle area, and let's start the next chapter! ----------------------------------------------------------- 5.5 Three new spirits and the infamous Morlia Gallery Level 18 ----------------------------------------------------------- You can do the parts in any order, except for the last one. The last one, you CAN do, but you won't be able to finish it until the other parts are done. ---------------------------------------------------------- 5.5A Here comes the Spirit of Fire, Efreet! ---------------------------------------------------------- From the castle, go right across the bridge, then go down, and take a right, entering the port. Sail on the ship and go right, entering the Hot Town. Stock up on everything, then go right, entering the cave. Go right and down the stairs, then go left, then up, and pick up the Sorceror Ring. Equip it right away, then move back to the entrance. Go left and shoot the target on the wall with the ring. Go through the door you just opened, and go all the way up, grabbing a Savory, a ?Axe, and a Feet Symbol. Go down, and to the left, down the stairs. Go through the room, and up the next stairs. Grab the Mixed Gummie, 1000 Gald, and the Lava Key. Go right to get to where you got the Sorceror's ring, and go back to the entrance. From the entrance, go up and through the door, then go to the left, grab the Charm Bottle, and go STRAIGHT UP from there. Shoot the target, go to the Save Spot, save, and go up, through the newly-opened door. Check the door to use the Lava Key, and go through, shooting down pillars. Eventually, you'll make it to Efreet. ---------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Efreet Attack, attack, attack. Use Akisazame to keep him from attacking your party (hopefully!) and have Arche use Thunder Blade repeatedly. If you got Undine before coming here, have Klarth CONSTANTLY summon her. Keep it up, and he won't stand a ghost of a chance! Oh yes, and Sylph heals him. ---------------------------------------------------------- Cutscene, then grab the chest for Arche's Eruption spell. Now, go back to the castle area. ---------------------------------------------------------- 5.5B Mud missles? Gnome, Spirit of Earth ---------------------------------------------------------- Go back into the Castle town, go all the way left, and get on the boat. Depending on which boat you took, you'll be in either the Port town, on by the village. Either way, head to the right of the village, and enter the cave. Go up, and to the right, and the door wil talk to you. Choose 3124, and go through it. Go to the right, and talk to the midget, who'll follow you after you choose choice 1. Bring the midget through to the next screen. The midget will always move to the space directly to the right of you, so step through to the next screen together. Go down, RUN past the midgets all the way left. If you touch one of them, use Tractor Beam to destroy them. Wait for the midget, then go all the way up, but DON'T leave the midget behind! Step together to the next screen. Run up, and talk to the midgets, who run off wwith the midget that was following you. Weird. Anyway, go down the stairs, then go right, across the bridge, then up. Go to the right and trip the switch on the wall, and go through the middle door after saving. Boss fight! --------------------------------------------- BOSS: Gnome STAY AWAY FROM IT. If you go near it, he'll go into a missle-launching fury. Instead, just stay away, and have Klarth repeatedly summon Sylph, and Arche repeatedly using Thunder Blade. He'll go down in a few seconds. Oh, and he's weak to wind. --------------------------------------------- Afterward, grab the chest for Arche's Grave spell. Go out, and if you're doing Undine, head to the Port town ,if you're not, go back to the castle. ---------------------------------------------------------- 5.5C Watery caves, squids, AND the Spirit of Water? Must be Undine's place... ---------------------------------------------------------- Go to the Port town, and go to the boat you used to get to Demitel's Castle. If you talked to everyone in the magic center of the castle, talking the the captain will get you two options. Choose the second, and sail to Undine's Cave. Go up, and into the cave. As soon as you get in, go right, and onto the next screen. Go up and around, and then go left after you enter the door. Across the bridge, you'll see a switch on the wall. Flip it, and go down, through the exit across from the door. Go in here, grab the Spectacles, and the Orange Gummie, then go down the stairs. Go down, grab the Rune Bottle, flip the switch, go back to that last switch you flipped and flip it again, and go though the door. Go through this room, making sure you grab the Aqua Mantle. Put it on anyone, seeing as it'll be useful against Undine. Go up in this room, and go down the left stairs after grabbing the Tuna. Flip the switch, then come back up. Go up to the next screen, and you on through until you're at to switches. Leave the one near the stairs alone, for now, and flip the other one. Go back to the room you were just at, and go down the right stairs this time. Flip the switch, then come back up. Go back up to the next screen, and SAVE. Then, go flip the switch I told you not to. Boss fight! ----------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Undine, Squid Have Klarth summon Efreet constantly, and Arche use eruption. Use Ougi Houousenretsuha if you have it, otherwise just block her, and take out the squid with Ougi Shuusousenretsuha, Ougi Majinsenretsuha, or Akisazame. ----------------------------------------------------------- Afterward, set the switch by the bridge back to normal, and get out of there. Oh, and while you're there, go to the house that's thrid to the right of the upper-left house in town to find a magic tutor for Arche. She teaches Lightning and Rock Mountain. ----------------------------------------------------------- 5.5D OH MY?! The Lord of the Worldly Elements?! In Morlia?! ----------------------------------------------------------- If you're not there already, go back to the castle town. From there, go right, across the bridge, down, right, past the port, and into the cave. Welcome, to the Morlia Gallery. FLOOR 1 Go to the upper-left wall, and flip the switch. Then grab the Orange Gummie, then go right, into the next screen. Go through the room and down the stairs. FLOOR 2 Step on the right switch, and go through the door. Then, take a left and go to the next screen. Pull the statue onto the switch, then go into the door under the switch. Go inside, flip the switch, then go back one screen, and take a right. Go down, though the door, and down the stairs. FLOOR 3 Go right, then up all the way. Stand on the On Plate to start flying the fly back by the entrance, AROUND the Off Plate, to the left, and up, over the switches! Now go up, and stand on the Off Pad. Now, go to the right on step on the left switch to make the door open. Now go through, and to the right. Pull the staqtue OFF the switch, and go down through the door. Go right, then go down, through the door you just opened, and down the stairs. FLOOR 4 Go left, and check the unlit candle twice, then choose choice 1. Go up through where you just opened, then go into the right door. Stand on the other switch when that guy stands on the one of them, and grab the Rune Bottle. Go back, step on the left switch, and go through the left door. Go left to the next screen. You'll see four switches. Step on them in this order: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right. Go back a screen, then go down. Flip the floor switch, then the switch on the wall, save, and then back to the switch room. Take the statue, and push it up onto the switch, nd go through the door, and down the stairs. FLOOR 5 Ooooh... Dark... Anyway, go right onto the next screen, then go up, then right again. Stand on the left switch, and go in, shoot the target, and go back out. Go left into the next screen, go left, and follow the lower wall until you go into an unlocked door. Go down the stairs. FLOOR 6 Go through the door. Go right, across the spikes, and go up, through the door. Push the far right statue out of the way, and flip the switch. Now, put the statue back on the switch. And go down, and grab the Lemon Gummie. Go back up, around, then down, across the spikes, and down the stairs. FLOOR 7 Light the unlit torch with your Sorceror Ring, then step on the Warp Pad. You'll be put in a room, with just you, and a chest. If you go directly for the chest from your starting point, you'll be warped out of there. Instead go around, grab the chest, then diliberately get yourself warped out. Then, go back on the Warp Pad. Do this three times. Then, once you step on the plate, you'll be warped to another room. Light ALL the candles, then go through the door. Go to the right, and follow the path all the way until you get to the next room. There, go down, and use the Pickaxe to break down the wall. Go around, and light the candle. Go right, down, and down the stairs.
