Q: Are Marth and Ro-
A: No.

Q: Can I have RO-
A: No.

Q: Are you singl-
A: No. I-I mean, yes, YES, wait, COME BACK! Feh.

Q: Where are the secret shops?
A: 19: Lower right corner (where the tree is) AND upper left corner
(between the two cracked walls, rightmost space).
21: Upper left part of the fort, where the "mat" is.
23 Linus: Farthest island to the east, where the forest is.
23 Lloyd: I think it's like, four spaces down and two spaces left of Lloyd.
29: On the bottom edge of the screen, where there are four panels. It's on
the lower left panel. You'll need a Warp Staff to get there.

Q: Where are the arenas?
A: 16x, 20, 23 and 29x. But you can only use the one in 29x for five turns.

Q: Why doesn't Ninian want you to move Nils in Chapter 21?
A: I have no idea.

Q: Why doesn't anyone like Marcus?
A: He joins early at level 1 promoted, meaning he will eat up your group's EXP.
I wouldn't hate him so much if he put the wasted EXP to good use, but he
doesn't, as he ends up as the worst character in the game. Give his stuff to
other characters and bench him ASAP.

Q: Geitz or Wallace?
A: Neither. But if I have to choose, then Wallace.

Q: Harken or Karel?
A: Karel.

Q: Guy or Raven?
A: Guy.

Q: Sain or Kent?
A: Kent.

Q: Cain or Kent?
A: Cain. By far.

Q: Sety or Athos?
A: ...Meh.

Q: What is "Hector's Mode"?
A: This game is played through three storylines: Lyn's, Eliwood's, and
   Hector's. Beat Eliwood's mode to access Hector's.

Q: What is "Hard Mode"?
A: Once you beat a character's story you can play through it again on
Hard Mode. The only real positives to Hard mode are: more challenge
(more reinforcements, tougher enemies, etc.), you don't have to go
through the tutorial thing (meaning you don't have to promote
Wallace!), and you can get a Silver Card (50% off all items).

Q: I'm out of room to store items!
A: Wait 'till you get Merlinus in Chapter 13x (or chapter 16). Once you
get him you'll be able to store 100 items in his caravan, plus five in
each character's inventory. If you don't have him, then you'll have to
   drop items.

Q: How do I recruit _____/how do I get past chapter _____/etc.
A: Read the character guide or walkthrough.

Q: I can't see anything on this one map! There is like fog!
A: Torches increase the range which units can see. Also, thieves have a
10 panel range sight in fog of war Chapters.

Q: _____ died! Should I restart?
A: I am one of those perfectionist people, so if I were you, I would. But
many others wouldn't. Think about how good that character is at
fighting, how important they are to the story and if you use them a
lot. Sometimes, there is one character that is better than another
even though they are the same class. So if the weaker character dies,
you might not care enough to restart. Check the character guide in
this FAQ for my personal character comparison ratings. Also check
other character guides and the message boards, because everyone has
   a separate opinion.

Q: Is Lucius a guy?!
A: Yeah, he suffers from a classic case of Fire Emblem I-Look-Like-I-Am-
A-Girl-But-I-Am-Really-A-Guy Syndrome. This disease has been
contracted by many others as well, including Julian, Chainy, Azel,
Mideel, Shanan, and who knows how many more. Aside from Azel and
Shanan, I thought all of those characters were female when I first
   saw them.

Q: What are other good strategy games on the GBA?
A: This one is number one on my list, but also try Advance Wars 1 and 2.
I despise Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I can't believe they could
ruin a great game like the original Tactics. Tactics Ogre is decent,
I haven't tried Onimusha Tactics yet (looks pretty plain, but I could
be wrong), and... Yeah. Whatever else there is. Of course, if you
can read Japanese (or at least Katakana) then you might want to pick
up Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Ken/Tsurugi as well.

Q: Are the Pegasus Knights worth using? They seem so weak.
A: Hell yes. They are some of the best characters in the game.

Q: Are any of the prepromoted characters worth using?
A: There may be some exceptions (Pent, Karel, Karla, Harken and Hawkeye),
but the general answer is NO. Characters like Marcus, Isadora, Wallace
and Geitz might be very powerful when you get them but they end up as
some of the worst characters in the game. Characters that haven't been
promoted yet are almost always better than prepromoted characters. The
only exceptions to this are Athos and Hawkeye, who are better than
anyone else with the same class. Harken is VERY close to Raven, but I
prefer Raven by only a hair.

Q: Any tips on the Arena?
A: Don't use it unless you want a very easy game. Press B during a match
to quit. Also, there is another trick you can use, which I dub the
"Death Prevention" method. If you enter an Arena with someone like say
Eliwood and he is going up against someone that you know he won't win
against, then before you start the fight, where it says the enemy's
stats, reset and have a different character go in the arena.

Q: What are your future FAQ plans?
A: Well, I might as well cover the rest of the Fire Emblem series. After this,
I plan to update of Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo guide. The characters
section is messed up (for example, I heavily underrated characters like
Toms, and overrated Lawrence). Emerald Dragon needs an update as well. After
those I will finish my Langrisser II guide (currently about 15% done) and
then get working on some other games. I had guides for Fire Emblems 2, 5,
and 6 going but my hard drive crashed and they were deleted. Same with
Ephemeral Fantasia and Grandia (AGAIN). So after the updates and Langrisser
2 I will most likely start on Gaiden, Thracia 776 or Fuuin no Ken.

Here is a section of random hints and tips that I couldn't fit anywhere else.

--------------
A. What's New?
--------------

Nothing much really has changed from Fire Emblem: The Sword of Sacred Fire and
Fire Emblem: The Sword of Seals. This one is actually a prequel to SoS, and
they have many things in common, story-wise. For example, Eliwood is Roy's
(FE6's hero) father, and Hector is Lilina's father. Marcus appears young in
this one, but is aged in FE6. There are some other similarities as well.

Actually, this game probably has the least amount of change from its prequel
than any other Fire Emblem. The cartoony battle system is still intact,
gameplay is still pretty much the same, etc. etc. One cool new thing is the
"anime scenes" (aka "CG pictures"). These are really awesome stilled pictures
of "anime" that you can see as the story progresses. Also something new (I
think, because I haven't played SoS for a while) is the animations of
characters when they're talking. Before only their mouth moved, but now they
blink, and sometimes change expressions.

You have access to a Sound Test thing as well as a Picture Gallery of all the
"anime scenes". You can also view the Support dialogues when you beat the game
(I don't think you could in SoS, but then again I never got around to beating
it).

Oh yeah, that's right. There are three main characters in SSF, and you can play
through all their storylines. This is also the first Fire Emblem with a forced
tutorial in the beginning (a bad thing, in my opinion). They should've left it
optional like in FE6. Also, another reason why this is one of my favorites in
the series is the detailed attention to each character's personality
development. In the other games, usually when a character joins you, they don't
talk for the rest of the game.

In SSF, not only are there three main characters, but also lots of support
characters that have a lot of dialogue as well (Sain, Matthew, Ninian, etc.).
Supports are back and add a lot of personality to the characters as well.
Enemies and NPCs also have very intricate personalities.

Thieves can now promote into a class called the "Assassin" (a lot better than
those Thief Fighters). The Assassins have the ability to randomly kill enemies
in a single attack. That's the only really new class, I think. Aside from the
super special unique classes.

So yeah, not really much has changed. But since for most of you, this is
probably the first FE you've played, you won't care.

----------------------------------------
B. Differences from the Japanese Version
----------------------------------------

Unfortunately some things have been changed from the Japanese version. Of
course, bad words have been totally eliminated (so if someone like Hector says
something like "Blast!", that means something else in Japan ;). Nintendo
doesn't want bad words on their reputation. Also, as I think someone named Dark
Gaia pointed out on the GameFAQs board, some major enemies' stats have been
toned down (the thought probably being that we dumb Americans can't handle the
bosses). It wasn't that big of a change, though.

---------------------------
C. Expected Finishing Stats
---------------------------

Revived from my FE3 FAQ, here is a list of the most likely outcome of a
character's stats when they reach 20/20. This does not factor in things like
Afa's Drops or stat-increasing items like the Angelic Robe. An asterisk denotes
that the stat will be at the maximum obtainable value.

Name HP STR SKL SPD LUK DEF RES
Athos 40 30* 24 20 25 20* 28
Isadora 42 19 19 25* 19 12 11
Kent 54 22 26* 24* 10 17 12
Louise 38 18 20 23 21 12 17
Lowen 58 19 17 19 22 24 12
Marcus 43 21 25 16 14 13 15
Rebecca 44 22 25 29* 27 11 14
Sain 51 25* 19 23 17 17 9
Wil 51 25* 26 22 21 14 12

------------
D. Max Stats
------------

Each class has different maximum stat values for each statistic. Here is a list
of them. Note that for unpromoted units, the maximum stats are always:

HP STR SKL SPD LUK DEF RES CON
60 20 20 20 30 20 20 20

Here is a list of the highest possible stats for each and every promoted class:

Class HP S/M SKL SPD LUK DEF RES CON
