Fire Emblem - Strategy Guide (Page 13)
Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Fire Emblem - Strategy Guide (Page 13).
Lyn Class: Lord -> Blade Lord Rating: 9/10 Game Description: A young girl from the Lorca tribe. Stouthearted and kind. Support: Eliwood, Florina, Hector, Kent, Rath, Wallace, Wil Affinity: Wind Starting Weapon Levels: Sword (D) Recruiting: Joins automatically in the Prologue. Rejoins in Chapter 15. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 70 40 60 60 55 20 30 Story: Lyn is a Sacaen girl from the Lorca tribe. Both her parents were killed by bandits six months before the game starts. She finds you, the player, unconscious and brings you in her home. You join her as a strategist while she goes on a quest to get stronger and avenge her parents. She will be on a path of events that leads her to the throne of Caelin. After Caelin is taken over by Darin, Eliwood helps her recapture it and from there on she joins Eliwood and Hector. Comment: Lyndis is a very good character. Her stats are very comparable to that of a Myrmidon/Mercenary; high Skill and Speed, but rather low Strength and Defense. Her unique Mani Katti weapon has a bonus +20% critical rate and is super effective against infantry. You'll be forced to use her for the first ten chapters and a few more later in the game, but you will probably want to use her anyway even in the chapters you aren't forced to use her in. Plus she's a total hottie. Oh yeah, if she dies, it's Game Over. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marcus Class: Paladin Rating: SUCK/10 Game Description: A paladin serving house Pherae. A skilled veteran. Support: Eliwood, Harken, Isadora, Lowen, Merlinus Affinity: SUCK (Ice) Starting Weapon Levels: Sword (A), Lance (A), Axe (B), Suckiness (S+++) Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 11. Doesn't leave. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 65 30 50 25 30 15 35 Story: Marcus is a veteran of Pherae's army. He joins Eliwood (probably against his wishes) on his journey to find his father. He serves as the guy who tells you about your performance and whatnot. He was also in Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Ken and served as Roy's guardian. Comment: Jeigan alert! Marcus is no doubt a descendant of Jeigan. He sucks (almost) as bad. Maybe even worse, I haven't played FE1/3 for a while. But something I am sure of, he SUCKS, and is the WORST CHARACTER IN THE WHOLE GAME. Forget what I said about Wallace, Isadora, Renault, Geitz, Bartre, Louise, Vaida, and the others. Marcus makes them all seem like Athos or Farina. Merlinus could probably take out Marcus, let alone those guys. OK, but seriously, he IS the worst character in FE7. When you first see him, you might think "Oh wow this is the best character in the game", but trust me; HE IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE. If Marcus has some good things going for him, it's that he has some nice accuracy, and starts out with some good weapons to give to Eliwood and Lowen, and also he makes a good shield for other characters in the earlier stages. But in the end, he is absolutely useless. On the GameFAQs boards, people call him an "EXP hog", and that's exactly what he is. He takes up EXP that others could use and wastes it. My conclusion: don't EVER use Marcus, not even a single attack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matthew Class: Thief -> Assassin Rating: 4/10 Game Description: A cheery thief. His casual demeanor belies his skill. Support: Hector, Guy, Jaffar, Legault, Oswin, Serra Affinity: Wind Starting Weapon Levels: Sword (D) Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 6. Rejoins in Chapter 13. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 75 30 40 70 50 25 20 Story: Matthew is a thief who is in Khathelet when it is seized by Lundgren. He sees Lyn and decides to help her. Later on, he travels with Ostia's Lord Hector and Pherae's Lord Eliwood. He has a relationship with Leila, an Ostian spy. He is involved with much bigger things but I don't want to spoil them for you. Comment: Matthew isn't bad, but Legault ends up a bit better. But until you get Legault, I would use Matthew. You'll miss out on a lot of treasure if you don't. Don't expect him to be an awesome fighter, before or after promotion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Merlinus Class: Transporter -> Transporter (Mobile) Rating: NA/10 Game Description: A traveling merchant. Timid and easily frightened. Support: Marcus, Nino, Vaida Affinity: Darkness Starting Weapon Levels: None Recruiting: Joins in Chapter 14, if you beat Chapter 13x. If not, then he joins automatically in Chapter 16. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 120 0 90 90 100 30 15 Story: Merlinus is a merchant traveling Elibe in order to make money. However he runs into a group of bandits. Fortunately for him, Eliwood and Hector save him, and he offers to help them out. Comment: Merlinus is INVALUABLE to your game. However, as he cannot fight, I cannot rate him. So why is he invaluable? Because he can store your items!!! He can store a whopping 100 items, and will also buy them from you. You can send him into battle if you want, so why not? If he dies, he automatically rejoins in the next Chapter. If he lives, he gains a level. ALWAYS deploy Merlinus. Also, if say one of your better characters is on the verge of dying, then Merlinus can save the day by becoming a target for the enemies! Go Merlinus! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nils Class: Bard Rating: 8/10 Game Description: A bard possessing arcane powers. Brother of Ninian. Support: None Affinity: Ice Starting Weapon Levels: None Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 7. Rejoins in Chapter 30. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 85 5 5 70 80 30 70 Story: Nils is in trouble when Lyn travels through Khathelet. He is being hunted by the Black Fang, whom have captured his sister, Ninian. He and his sister play a big role in this story. Comment: You may think Nils is absolutely useless, but I strongly disagree. His song allows a character to have another turn, which basically doubles that character's usefulness! A thing to note about Nils: he and Ninian's stats are shared, so when Ninian joins, she will have the same stats Nils had. Both have the same growth rate. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ninian Class: Dancer Rating: 8/10 Game Description: A somber girl. Quiet, but filled with a solemn energy. Support: Eliwood, Florina, Hawkeye Affinity: Ice Starting Weapon Levels: None Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 20. Leaves after Chapter 27. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 85 5 5 70 80 30 70 Story: Ninian is the sister of Nils. She is being hunted by the Black Fang, but Eliwood rescues her. She and her brother play big roles in this story. Comment: Ninian is exactly the same as Nils, except for the more obvious reasons. Same growth rate and the same ability to give other characters another turn. So I give her the same usefulness rating. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nino Class: Mage -> Sage Rating: 10/10 Game Description: One of the Black Fang. True and innocent. Support: Canas, Erk, Florina, Jaffar, Legault, Merlinus, Rebecca Affinity: Fire Starting Weapon Levels: Anima (C) Recruiting: Talk to her with Eliwood or Lyn in Chapter 26. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 55 50 55 60 45 15 50 Story: Nino is the daughter of Brendan Reed and Sonia, and the sister of Lloyd and Linus. She gets an assignment from her mother to go assassinate someone. Lots of stuff happens, I don't want to spoil it for you, but eventually she joins you. Comment: Don't be fooled at first glance. Even though she starts at level 5, unpromoted, so late in the game, if you have the patience and energy to level her up then she will easily become one of the best characters in the game. She will easily outclass all the other mages, aside from Athos. All of her stats are at the least above average (except for her mediocre HP and low Defense), and her Resistance, Skill, and Luck are very, very high. In fact, the only thing Athos has over her are Magic power and Defense. Have patience and level her up, as she is worth it. Oh yeah, give her the Afa's Drops, a Dragonshield and an Angelic Robe for maximum effect. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oswin Class: Knight -> General Rating: 9/10 Game Description: A knight in service to house Ostia. Hector's sworn man. Support: Dorcas, Hector, Matthew, Priscilla, Serra Affinity: Anima Starting Weapon Levels: Lance (B) Recruiting: Joins in turn 4 of Chapter 12. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 90 40 30 30 35 50 35 Story: Oswin serves Ostia as Hector's guardian. When Hector decides to join Eliwood in searching for his father, Oswin goes with him. He is an honorable knight who is constantly correcting Hector for his recklessness. Comment: Oswin is awesome. He is easily one of the best in the game. He joins with high stats, so you might think he'll end up pretty bad. But he doesn't. Not at all. He easily maxes out Strength and Defense, and will nearly max out his HP as well. However, he is a TERRIBLE dodger (well, what would you expect?), due to very low Speed and Luck. But still, I can't recommend him enough. You might want to be careful in the first few levels you get him to not overuse him, because he starts off at such a high level and might use up too much EXP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pent Class: Sage Rating: 7/10 Game Description: Marquess of Reglay. Sole student of Archsage Athos. Support: Canas, Erk, Fiora, Hawkeye, Louise Affinity: Ice Starting Weapon Levels: Anima (A), Staff (A) Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 24. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 50 30 20 40 40 30 35 Story: Pent is the Mage General of Etruria, and Marquess of Reglay. He is the husband of Louise, Erk's mentor and is also learning under Athos. Pent goes into the Nabata Desert in order to look for a "special item", and that's when he runs into Eliwood's group. He takes them to Athos and teleports everyone to Lycia, in order to find the Shrine of Seals. Eventually he and his wife fight alongside Eliwood. Comment: A rare example of a prepromoted unit that might actually be worth using. Unfortunately, in the end, he pales in comparison to Erk, Priscilla, and Nino, the three other Anima users. But until that time he is actually pretty good. He suffers from very low HP, but has awesome Resistance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Priscilla Class: Troubadour -> Valkyrie Rating: 9/10 Game Description: A vassal in service to Count Caerlon in Etruria. Support: Erk, Guy, Heath, Lucius, Oswin, Raven, Sain Affinity: Wind Starting Weapon Levels: Staff (C) Recruiting: Visit the southern village in Chapter 14. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 45 40 50 40 65 15 50 Story: Priscilla is a noblewoman of Etruria. Erk tries to escort her there, but Darin stops her in Laus and demands for her to be his bride. Priscilla refuses, so she and Erk are trapped in Laus. Eliwood's group arrives, though, and takes over Laus, thus freeing Priscilla. She and Erk decide to join him. Comment: Wow, I really underrated Priscilla. She might have terrible Defense and the lowest HP in the game (do NOT let her get attacked by enemies!), but her Resistance is awesome, and she is usually the ONLY character to max out Luck! When she promotes she can use magic, thus increasing her usefulness even more! She ends up being my third favorite magic user, next to only Athos and Nino. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rath Class: Nomad -> Nomadic Trooper Rating: 7/10 Game Description: A young hired sword from the Kutolah tribe. Support: Lyn, Guy, Wil Affinity: Darkness Starting Weapon Levels: Bow (C) Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 6. Rejoins in Chapter 21 if you have Lyn talk to him. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 80 50 40 50 30 10 25 Story: Rath works for Marquess Araphen. He first meets Lyn when Araphen is attacked by Lundgren's bandits. After Marquess Araphen refuses to help Lyn simply because she is Sacaen, Rath leaves his service because he, too, is from Sacae, and then he joins Lyn. Later on, he is sent to help defend a fort in Lycia, where he comes across Lyn again and joins her. He rarely talks and seldom shows emotion. Comment: I think Rath is the best bowman in the game. He gets awesome HP and Speed, and is pretty powerful to boot. Having no real weaknesses, he should be someone you use frequently. The reasons I prefer him to the Archers, aside from the points mentioned above, is that he is mounted (which increases his movement range), and will gain the ability to use swords after promotion, so that he won't be so easily defeated by melee attackers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Raven Class: Mercenary -> Hero Rating: 7/10 Game Description: A troubled mercenary with a grudge against house Ostia. Support: Bartre, Lucius, Priscilla, Rebecca, Wil Affinity: Ice Starting Weapon Levels: Sword (C) Recruiting: Have Priscilla talk to him in Chapter 16. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 85 55 40 45 35 25 15 Story: Raven is with Lucius in Caelin with Lord Darin of Laus attacks it and conquers it. Raven and Lucius are taken prisoner. However, Eliwood and his group attack Caelin to free Marquess Hausen. Hearing that Hector, brother of Marquess Ostia is with the enemy, he convinces the Laus guards to free him so that he can fight Eliwood. However, in Eliwood's group is Raven's sister Priscilla, who convinces him to switch sides. Raven joins Eliwood and brings Lucius with him. Comment: Raven is REALLY overrated. Some say he's better than Guy, but I strongly disagree. However, there is no argument from me that he is a pretty good unit. Just don't expect Ayla or Oguma or Navarre. He might be a little stronger and have more HP than Guy, but that's usually about it. He has terrible Resistance, and only mediocre Defense and Luck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rebecca Class: Archer -> Sniper Rating: 7/10 Game Description: A youth from Pherae. Very helpful and bright. Support: Dart, Louise, Lowen, Nino, Sain, Raven, Wil Affinity: Fire Starting Weapon Levels: Bow (D) Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 11. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 60 40 50 60 50 15 30 Story: Rebecca is the daughter of a magistrate that runs a village near Pherae. When the village is under attack by Caelin bandits, Rebecca asks Eliwood to help her out in defeating them. Afterwards, she gets permission from her father to join Eliwood in his quest, thinking that she may find her long-lost brother... Comment: Most people agree that Rebecca is the best bow user in the game. Of course, I don't :). For me, Rath simply can take more hits and is a bit stronger, plus he can use Swords when he promotes. However Rebecca is more accurate and is a much better dodger. Whoever you like better, both are awesome units, and they are really close in terms of usefulness. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Renault Class: Bishop Rating: 1/10 Game Description: A cleric wandering Valor. Shrouded in mystery. Support: Bartre, Canas, Isadora, Lucius, Wallace Affinity: Anima Starting Weapon Levels: Light (A), Staff (A) Recruiting: Visit the northwestern village in Chapter 30. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 60 40 30 35 15 20 40 Story: Renault is a mysterious Bishop that appears in various parts of the game. If you visit him in Chapter 30 then he joins you, for seemingly no real reason. However, Renault is hiding a deep, dark secret... Comment: (Sigh) Why did they even put this guy in this game. He joins so late and is so weak that he's extremely useless. He reminds me of Hannibal in FE4, because he is easily the most forgettable character in the entire game. He just comes up and joins you for no real reason. Anyway, he actually has a pretty interesting background if you care to unlock his Supports, but other than that he's totally useless. Lowest Power in the game, and he also has terrible Luck. Take his stuff and let us never speak of him again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sain Class: Cavalier -> Paladin Rating: 6/10 Game Description: A knight in service to house Caelin. A bit of a scoundrel. Support: Fiora, Isadora, Kent, Louise, Priscilla, Rebecca, Serra Affinity: Wind Starting Weapon Levels: Sword (E), Lance (D) Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 1. Rejoins in Chapter 15. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 80 60 35 40 35 20 20 Story: Sain works for Caelin and is sent on a mission with rival Kent to find Marquess Caelin's granddaughter, who happens to be Lyn. He stays with her for the rest of the game. Women run through his mind 24-7, but he can be serious when he needs to be. However, for most of the time, he finds Kent chastising him for slacking off. Comment: Sain has one big plus: Strength. He is very strong, and not too slow or frail either. I think he is next in usefulness only to red-headed Kent. Then again, the only time a green-haired Social Knight was ever better than a red-haired one was in FE4. So the tradition continues. Dave's Comment: Sain rocks! Chris: Thank you, Dave. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Serra Class: Cleric Rating: 8/10 Game Description: A cleric in service to house Ostia. Headstrong and bold. Support: Erk, Florina, Hector, Lucius, Matthew, Oswin, Sain Affinity: Thunder Starting Weapon Levels: Staff (D) Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 5. Rejoins in Chapter 13. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 50 50 30 40 60 15 55 Story: Serra is a girl working for Ostia. Erk is hired to escort her to Ostia. Loudmouthed and annoying, she finds herself in trouble but Lyn is their to help her out. Once she reaches Ostia, she accompanies Hector, who sets out to help his friend Eliwood find his father. Comment: The two earliest healers in the game are Serra and Priscilla, and I prefer Priscilla by a little bit. Serra has a bit more HP and can dodge attacks a bit better, but Priscilla is a better magic user. Use them often in your adventure, because they are very tough to level up in Fire Emblem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vaida Class: Wyvern Lord Rating: 3/10 Game Description: A deserter from Bern's wyvern riders. Brutal. Support: Canas, Dorcas, Harken, Heath, Karla, Merlinus, Wallace Affinity: Fire Starting Weapon Levels: Lance (A), Sword (A) Recruiting: Talk to her in Chapter 27, if she survived in Chapter 24. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 60 45 25 40 30 25 15 Story: Vaida is the commander of Bern's wyvern squad. She tries to help out the Black Fang in driving off Eliwood, but fails. She leaves the Black Fang and will eventually ask Eliwood if she can fight alongside him. Comment: Totally outclassed by Heath. Vaida gets some good Defense, but has poor Speed and Resistance. You've already got at least three better flying units, I don't see why you would ever use four at one time. If you want to, just kill her for a little more EXP. She's hideous anyway. XD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wallace Class: Armor Knight -> General Rating: 2/10 Game Description: A retired knight of Caelin. Constantly testing himself. Support: Lyn, Kent, Renault, Vaida, Wil Affinity: Thunder Starting Weapon Levels: Lance (A) Recruiting: Joins automatically in Chapter 9. Rejoins in Chapter 23, Lloyd version, if either Eliwood, Lyn, Kent, Sain, Wil, or Florina talk to him. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 70 45 40 20 30 35 35 Story: Wallace is an ex-Caelin soldier. After Lundgren takes over, Wallace runs into Lyn, Sain, and Kent, who have been deemed traitors to Caelin. However, Wallace is convinced that Lyn is the daughter of Madelyn, the wife of Marquess Hausen, and joins her. Later on, if you fight Lloyd before Linus, he will wander onto the battlefield and if someone he knows talks to him, then he will join you. He is always cheerful and loves the battlefield. Comment: I can't believe I gave Wallace a 6 before. Anyway, DON'T USE HIM. He may get awesome Defense and Strength, but he won't be able to dodge a snail on depressants (lowest Speed in the game). Save your EXP for other characters. Um, if you're playing on Hard mode, then don't even think about promoting him. Give his Knight Crest to Kent or Sain and promote one of them in Lyn's story. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wil Class: Archer -> Sniper Rating: 6/10 Game Description: A youth from Pherae, in the Lycian League. Very social. Support: Dart, Lyn, Rath, Raven, Rebecca, Wallace Affinity: Wind Starting Weapon Levels: Bow (D) Recruiting: Have Lyn visit the southwest village in Chapter 3. Rejoins in Chapter 15. Stats HP - S/M - SKL - SPD - LUK - DEF - RES 75 50 50 40 40 20 25 Story: Wil is in a village in the Taliver Mountains when it gets attacked by Ganelon bandits. When he meets Lyn, who is fighting the bandits, he decides to join her. After Lyn conquers Caelin, Wil decides to stay there with her. He is also an adventurer. Comment: I change my mind; I like Rebecca a little more than Wil now. But they are just about equal. Wil can take more hits, and Rebecca is a better dodger. It is really hard to say who is better. Who knows, maybe in a future version I'll lean towards Wil again... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------- |B. NPCs| ------- Here is a list of the main NPCs and enemies in the game. Note that these contain several spoilers. Brendan Reed Allegiance: Black Fang Class: Warrior Description: N/A Appearances: N/A Comment: Brendan Reed is the founder of the Black Fang. Erik is defeated, thanks to his father not sending him aid, and Darin decides to abandon his son and country and go with Ephidel to the Dragon's Gate. However he turns against Nergal and is punished. Ephidel Allegiance: Black Fang Class: Sage Game Description: N/A Appearances: None Comment: Ephidel is a morph of Nergal. He carries out his master's every wish. Ephidel is the guy who convinced Darin of Laus to rebel against Ostia, and he convinced Helman (Santaruz) and Elbert (Pherae) to join as well. He is responsible for the death of a few characters in the game, but meets his own end thanks to Nils, of all people. Hausen Allegiance: Caelin Class: ??? Leila Allegiance: Ostia Class: Assassin Game Description: N/A Appearances: None Comment: Leila is a spy working for Ostia, pretending to be a member of the Black Fang. She has a relationship with Matthew. She gives you valuable information about the Black Fang. At one point, in the Dragon's Gate, she screws up and gets herself killed by Jaffar. Appearances: Chapter 23 or Chapter 27 Comment: "Mad Dog" Linus is one of the Four Fangs, and one of the two Reed brothers (the other is Lloyd). These two are the sons of Brendan Reed, founder of the Black Fang. They aren't as loyal to Nergal as the others are but still follow him. Linus rarely listens to the advice of other's, and this becomes his undoing. Lloyd Allegiance: Black Fang Class: Swordmaster Game Description: The White Wolf of the Four Fangs. Brendan's first son. Appearances: Chapter 23 or Chapter 27 Comment: One of the Four Fangs, and the older of Brendan Reed's sons. He hesitantly follows Nergal, believing that he is serving his father, the creator of the Black Fang. Lloyd is the calmer of the two brothers. He has great charisma and is able to lead his troops well. Lundgren Allegiance: Caelin Class: General Game Description: ??? Nergal Allegiance: Black Fang Class: Dark Druid Game Description: An avaricious fiend who turns death into power. Appearances: Final Chapter Comment: Nergal is basically in charge of the Black Fang. He orders his morphs to do various deeds in order to bring back dragons in the world. However, Eliwood, Hector, and Lyndis foil his plans in the end. He is an evil guy that cares about nobody but himself. He kills others just to make himself stronger. Sonia Allegiance: Black Fang Class: Sage Game Description: ...Damn, I forget! Sonia then kills Brendan Reed, but is then killed by either Eliwood's group or Nergal. Ursula Allegiance: Black Fang Class: Valkyrie Game Description: ...I forget. Appearances: 26
