Fire Emblem - Strategy Guide (Page 10)
Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Fire Emblem - Strategy Guide (Page 10).
There are two other enemies with long-range magic spells; a Bishop (with Purge)
in the north and a Druid (Eclipse) in the far east. These guys are very
dangerous, and should be your main priorities. The Druid will drop another
Nosferatu book when he goes down.
Pay attention to the enemies' weapons. Some have Killer types, so use extra
caution against them. Remember, the higher a character's Luck, the lower the
chance of the enemy's Critical Hit kicking in. One Warrior even has a Devil
Axe; you can let him kill himself for fun if you want.
Try to get to the ruins as fast as you can. An old Bishop named Renault is in
the northern ruins. Visit them and he will join your team. In the center ruins,
you'll get Set's Litany. And in the southern ruins, a little girl will give you
a Talisman.
Also try to kill off the Snipers in the ballistae. If you're feeling lucky, you
can rush them in order to kill them quickly, or have someone like Hector or
Oswin drain their arrows. It's up to you. Remember to have your own Snipers
take them over when they're gone.
Lots of reinforcements will be coming, mainly in the form of Falcoknights,
Cavaliers, Nomadic Troopers and Wyvern Riders. However, there are also Knights,
Generals, Paladins, Wyvern Lords, Brigands and some others as well. Kill
Limstella and the reinforcements will stop coming. You can get plenty of EXP
here, if you want. You should have all characters you're going to use at Lv 10+
promoted.
Limstella is tough. VERY tough. She has the A-level Anima spell, Fimbulvetr.
She is also very accurate, fast, and has good defense, both magically and
physically. I beat her by giving Hector a Brave Axe and slashing her to pieces.
Oswin with a Brave Lance might work as well. Just make sure you use someone who
can do a bit of damage and can survive a hit from Fimbulvetr. If they can't
survive a 2nd hit, then rescue them with someone and have them retreat.
After Limstella is defeated, have Eliwood Seize the gate. Nils will tell you a
bit more about his and Ninian's past. After a bit of talking, everyone heads
towards the Dragon's Gate.

Eliwood has finally reached his destination; the Dragon's Gate. Athos appears,
after meeting with Brammimond, and he brings the legendary weapons with him.
These include Aureola, the legendary light magic once wielded by St. Elimine.
Durandal, the Sword of Sacred Fire, that was obtained from Roland. and given to
Eliwood. Armads, the legendary axe, for Hector. And the partner of the Mani
Katti, the Sol Katti, for Lyn. You head for the back, and Eliwood tells you to
choose your fighters carefully...
You can only send out 12 characters in this battle, and five of them have
already been chosen for you (the three Lords, Athos, and Nils). You must pick
seven more to send into the Dragon's Gate. My top 7 are Nino, Fiora, Florina,
Oswin, Priscilla, Guy, and Serra. Make sure you choose a variety of units, as
you will be getting a variety of powerful weapons. Keep at least one space open
in each character's inventory. Don't forget to give your Lords their legendary
weapons!
Merlinus cannot be sent into this battle; Eliwood and Hector tell him to go
wait by the ship. Your group heads forward to confront Nergal. He calls forth
eight morphs, who have taken the form of enemies you have previously fought.
After arguing with Athos and Eliwood for a while, he teleports himself and his
morphs away. Eliwood, Lyn, Hector, and the rest have come too far to give up
now. This is it.
The very first thing you should do is to have Athos and mage-killing units
(Falcoknights) head towards the northwest door. This is very important, and
doing so will help you greatly.
Your first obstacle is the Nomadic Trooper Uhai, in the lower right corner. He
has the Rienfleche bow. He's aided by two Snipers, with Silver and Long Bows.
Uhai is one of the tougher enemies in this level, and that's saying a lot. He
doesn't really have any weaknesses.
What I would do is move characters with anti-Nomad weapons (Lyn's Mani Katti,
Hector's Wolf Beil, Eliwood's Rapier) slightly north, out of his range. Move
everyone else further north. When he comes up, attack him with those weapons in
order to kill him. Then finish off his Snipers. He will drop the Rienfleche.
Next is Kenneth, who is in the northwest room with a Druid and Sage. The Sage
has Bolting, Fimbulvetr and Physic, so kill him quickly. The Druid has the
powerful Gespenst spell. Kenneth himself has the light spell Luce, a spell
strong enough to rival Aureola (to be honest, I prefer Luce to Aureola).
Kill off the Sage with a Falcoknight, and then have Athos attack Kenneth with
Forblaze. If that doesn't kill him, try using another Falcoknight. Kenneth will
drop his Luce spell. Kill the Druid with a Light spell (Luce/Aureola) and he
will drop Gespenst, the super powerful S-level Dark spell (only usable by a
high level Canas and Athos).
After Kenneth is Brendan Reed, the commander of the Black Fang. He is in the
room below Kenneth's, along with another Warrior with a Silver Axe and Bow.
Brendan himself wields the powerful Basilikos axe. He is extremely powerful and
accurate, so don't send your weak sword units like Guy or Legault up to attack
him. He lacks a long range attack, so someone like Athos or Nino works best.
The other Warrior falls easily to any sword user.
Darin, the old Marquess of Laus, is after Brendan Reed. He is in the room above
Uhai. He wields the powerful Rex Hasta lance, and the other General with him
has a Silver Axe and Lance. I easily took them out with Hector and Oswin, but a
magic user would work as well. Just don't send weak units like Guy or Lyn after
them. Darin will drop the Rex Hasta; give it to someone like Fiora or Oswin.
Once Darin dies again, the southwest room will open. In it are Jerme the
Assassin and Ursula the Valkyrie. Jerme has the Runesword, a sword that drains
HP like the spell Nosferatu. Obviously, someone with high Resistance and who
wields a Lance (Fiora) works best. Don't worry about his instant-kills, as he
has a 0% critical chance. He doesn't drop his Runesword.
Ursula has the infamous, all-powerful Excalibur spell. Watch out for this one,
as it's quite dangerous (possibly even more so than Kenneth's Luce). I don't
recommend Gespenst, as it's too slow (if you sent out Canas, he might be a big
help here). I used Athos' Aureola, but since Ursula suffers from low Defense
you can use a high Resistance physical attacker as well. She drops the
Excalibur spell.
The final door in the northeast opens, revealing the Reed brothers, Lloyd and
Linus. Lloyd has the Regal Blade, and Linus has a Brave Sword. This is probably
the toughest room of them all, as Lloyd is very difficult. He has high power,
hit rate, evasion, as well as critical hit %. He will very likely attack twice.
He also has A Support with Linus, making him even tougher. I would use a ranged
attack such as Gespenst or Excalibur or Luce or one of the other powerful
spells you have. Just don't attack him at melee range unless you're using a
fast/high Defense lance user with the Rex Hasta. He will drop the Regal Blade.
Linus is a bit easier, and you might want to go for him first in order to cut
his Support with Lloyd. However, he is guaranteed to attack you at least twice
with that Brave Sword of his, so watch out. Again, use a ranged attacker or
someone like Fiora or Oswin. He doesn't drop anything when he dies.
Once all the enemies are dead, Nergal's room becomes accessible. He is with a
Sage and Druid; take out the Druid first, as he has a Berserk staff. If one of
your characters gets Berserked, quickly heal them with the Restore staff. On
the next turn, two Druids (with Nosferatu) appear in the north, while three
Generals (with Silver Lances) come in from the south. Kill them all before
dealing with Nergal.
Athos should easily be able to handle Nergal one-on-one. Make sure he's fully
healed and has Aureola equipped. Then send him up to attack. Aureola is super
effective against Nergal, and it will only take three hits to kill him.
Nergal's Ereshkigal spell is also very powerful, and can kill Athos in three
hits, but if you get the first strike and Athos is at full health then you have
nothing to worry about. Take him out once and for all.
After Nergal is dead, you head towards the back of the building. You see the
Dragon's Gate has been opened, and three dragons have come into Elibe. Athos
tries to take them on, but they are too powerful. Thankfully, Brammimond comes
with help. I won't spoil this part for you, so let's just say two dragons are
gone and there is still one more to go.

This is it, the last battle in the game. The characters that participated in
the previous battle will automatically be chosen for this one. In front of you
is a much feared, legendary dragon, and all around you are mages with the most
annoying spells and staves in the game.
Don't worry about the generic enemies. Hopefully by now you're fast enough to
dodge their spells. You won't be able to attack them back without long range
spells of your own, so just forget about them.
Concentrate on the dragon. Only the legendary weapons you have (Durandal, Sol
Katti, Armads, Forblaze and Aureola), anti-Wyvern weapons and Luna/Eclipse will
have much effect on it. However, its Flametongue attack disregards your
defenses; it always does 37 damage, meaning any of your characters will always
die in two hits.
Have someone go into his attacking range and hit him with their weapon. Then
use Physic to heal them, or go Rescue them with someone in order to get them
out of the way. The dragon will not move, so you are free to spend as much time
as you want in defeating him. Just be careful that nobody gets attacked twice.
It will take a while, but I'm confident you will eventually take him down.
Enjoy the ending; I won't spoil much for you. Athos predicts a crisis in Bern
coming to light; but again, someone from Lycia brings hope. This foreshadows
what is (or rather, was) to come in Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Ken. Make sure you
stick around after the credits.
You'll be able to see how well you did, in terms of how long it took you to
beat certain chapters. The ending will change depending on whom has A Supports
with whom. So play through the game again and chances are you'll get a
different ending. Also, since you just beat Eliwood's Tale, Hector's Tale will
be unlocked, as will Eliwood's Hard Mode. You also get a ranking on your
performance unlocked, as well as a history of your Support Conversations. As if
there wasn't enough replay value already!
Well, I guess that wraps it up for me. I have enjoyed making this walkthrough,
and I hope it was useful for you. Congrats on beating this game, honorable
tactician. I hope you are as interested in the Fire Emblem series as I am. Try
checking out the other games in the series, if you liked this one.
So, what will I be doing next? That's a good question. I hear Thracia 776 and
Fuuin no Ken needs walkthroughs... Heh. Well, for now, I think I'm going to
take a nice long break... Until next time, see you!

Starting with Chapter 11 (not available in Lyn's story), characters who stand
next to each other for a long enough time may be able to access "Support" for
each other. There are three levels of Support (C, B, and A). Basically, Support
between two characters slightly enhances some stats. This next paragraph goes
into Support even further.
Characters can have a maximum of 5 Support levels; C counts as 1 level, B
counts as 2 levels and A counts as 3 levels. So you can only have one A rank
Support level per game. Also not everyone can support anyone else; there are a
limit of characters one can have support with (the max is 7). So you'll have to
play through at least 7 times to get all the supports.
The "stats" (not personal stats, like Strength or HP, but rather things like
Hit Rate and Evasion) that are increased are based on a character's affinity.
For example, if an Ice affinity and a Light affinity have Support, then the
stats that will be increased are different than the stats increased by the Ice
character supporting a Thunder character. Both characters will get the stats
increased, provided that THEY ARE AT MOST THREE SPACES AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.
Each stat has three "stages" that correspond with rank, so a B rank is double
the effect of a C rank.
Also, you can only increase one pair's support by one rank per chapter.
However, you can have one of those characters raise a support with someone else
in that same chapter, if you want. Support will be enabled after the following
number of "points" have been reached: C (81), B (161), A (241). Each pair
starts off with a specific number of points and each grows at a different rate.
There are many things to take into consideration before trying to get Support;
is this pairing the one that is most effective for my characters, does this
pairing take a long time, and do I use both of these characters often.
Obviously a support that raises Matthew's evade isn't going to be as useful as
one that raises his power. Also quick supports are always better than supports
that take a long time. Finally, if one of the support characters is one that
you rarely use, then it won't be beneficial at all. There may be other personal
factors that help you choose which support is right for which character, like
if you already got this pairing in a previous game.
Here is a list of every Support match up in the game, with my personal rating.
I grade it based on usefulness, quickness, and character usefulness. The
perfect pairing is quick, useful for both characters, and involves characters
that are good. A bad pairing takes a long time, is not that useful for either
character and neither of the two characters are very useful. A perfect rating
is seven stars, and the worst rating is one star, so the average is about 3 or
4.

Sort of confusing, I know. First off, look at the two characters who have
support. Check their affinities. Then check their support level. If their
support level is C, then simply look at the row with the two affinities they
have above and check out how their stats will "increase". For B, multiple the
above values by 2. For A, multiple them by 3.
You have to round down. So for example, if Eliwood (Anima) and Marcus (Ice)
have an A level support, I would look up their affinities first:
Anima Ice 0.5 1 2.5 5 0 5
Then I would multiply them by 3
Anima Ice 1.5 3 7.5 15 0 15
But since I round down...
Anima Ice 1 3 7 15 0 15
Those would be my stat increasements for both characters. IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY
SHOW THE INCREASEMENTS ON THE STATS SCREEN. You can view it on the
Items/Equipment screen on the bottom (aside from Critical Evasion, which
doesn't show up), or when you attack an enemy, they will also show up there. Oh
yeah, the stats ONLY increase if the two units are THREE PANELS OR LESS away
from each other.
Hope that helps.

|B. SUPPORT VALUES|
-----------------
The number to the left is the starting "point" value, and the number to the
right is the number of "points" gained per turn. Remember, C Support = 81, B =
161 and A = 241. Then it lists the number of turns the two units must be next
to each other in order to reach the listed rank. I used a calculator to figure
these out, but knowing me, I probably screwed up somewhere... If you spot a
mistake go ahead and e-mail me at cstrittyrun@yahoo.com with the word "Tales"
in the subject line.
