Fire Emblem - Strategy Guide (Page 09)

Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Fire Emblem - Strategy Guide (Page 09).

Make sure you deploy all your flyers. You'll find out why soon enough. Send out
at least three people who can use axes. A Berserker will come in handy here.
Also send out some sword people, bow units and magic users. Oh yeah, send out
healers and a Thief as well.

This is a tricky battle. The little floating platform isles all have bridges
that connect them to other isles. However, they will appear and disappear on
different turns, so beware that you don't get stuck on a single island! If you
do you can go have your flyers rescue them.

First off attack the Mage in the southwest corner. He has a Bolting spell. Also
take out the Sage. Then move everyone else east; leave a few people at the
starting point. Remember, try to level up Nino as much as possible. Keep her
behind someone strong like Oswin or Hector.

You can use Mines and Light Runes to your advantage in this level. Simply plant
one on one of the narrow bridges and the enemies will try to find another way
around. Use this to buy time and heal/use items/rearrange your group. Of
course, these items will block you as well.

Try to avoid standing on the "bridges", as they sporadically appear and
disappear. If they disappear, your characters are stuck in the water until
someone gets them out (unless they're a flying unit or Pirate/Berserker). So
again, be careful where you walk.

Reinforcements will come in like crazy during this battle. Anywhere where there
are stairs is where enemies can spawn. So try to block the staircases and
always be prepared for a sudden ambush from any side. Most of the
reinforcements comprise of Pirates, Cavaliers, and Nomads, but there are
several other types as well.

Look out for the Bishop with a Berserk staff. He can turn your own allies
against you by using this. You can counter the effects of Berserk with the
Restore staff. Obviously, you'll want to kill this guy quickly, but make sure
you steal the Angelic Robe before doing so.

Keep killing enemies with Nino while slowly advancing towards Sonia. If your
path gets cut off, don't worry too much. Hopefully there's a healer within
close proximity. If you're getting overwhelmed then have flyers rescue the
units and get them out of there. Also, if you wait long enough, all of the
paths will resurface.

Drain Sonia's Bolting spell with a high Resistance unit like Lucius, Serra,
Priscilla or Fiora. Have them retreat and get healed if they are hit. When
Bolting is all used up go ahead and advance in her little "room". Let Nino kill
the two Wyvern Riders. If you're good, you'll have gotten her to at least level
15 by now.

Open the chests with a Thief/Assassin. You'll have to clear out the
northeastern island first before you can get the chests. Make sure your flyer
has the Delphi Shield equipped as there's a Sniper up there. Open those chests
for a Fenrir book, a Thore's Ire ring, and a Recover staff. The lower chest has
Speedwings.

Sonia is sort of tough, but not really. Kill her with someone like Canas or
Fiora. Her Fimbulvetr spell is pretty strong, so be cautious. It's even more
powerful than Bolting, and is more accurate and lighter as well. When you
eventually kill her she will drop a Fell Contract, which promotes a Thief into
an Assassin.

Nino -> Lloyd/Linus Lloyd/Linus start moving around (this is bad).

After preventing the assassination of Prince Zephiel, Eliwood returns to Fire
Emblem to Queen Hellene and goes to the Shrine of Seals. Sonia and Brendan Reed
are now dead, and three of the Four Fangs are no longer a threat. But one more
stands in your way, determined to avenge his brother...

Depending on who you fought in Chapter 23, you will fight the other Reed
brother here. So if you fought Lloyd in Chapter 23, you will fight Linus here,
and if you fought Linus here, you will fight Lloyd. Despite the Black Fang's
numerous losses, the remaining troops rally behind their leader in order to put
an end to Eliwood.

This is easily one of the toughest battles in the game. Deploy your best units,
and only your best units. You will need a variety of characters, including a
Thief. The Delphi Shield helps out immensely here; make sure you give it to
Fiora. Again, sending out your weakest characters is not going to help you out
here. However, you MIGHT want to send out Pent and Louise in order for them to
talk with each other... This conversation will count as their "C" Support.

Ahh, finally, a real challenge... A battle that reminds me of fighting Camiy's
Paladins while Shooters are firing their ballista arrows at my units from afar
in the plains of Grunia in FE3, and cutting through a canyon while being
assaulted by Arches and a lot of other units in FE4. This is the kind of battle
that defines the game Fire Emblem, and will offer you a great (albeit
challenging) experience. This is what the series is all about.

Well, you're outnumbered 3 to 1, and your objective is to kill everyone.
Fortunately for you, they are spread out everywhere, and you are a group.
Unfortunately for you, they are somewhat strong and have various weapons. So
you better be careful.

Begin by having your lance users go west and take out the Myrmidons. Have your
axemen and magic users go north, towards the Knights. Another axe user or two
should go northeast, to battle the Cavaliers/Nomads that will come down. Have
everyone else follow one of the two western groups.

Lots of enemies will start coming down towards you, especially towards the
middle (where the General and Knights are). So place someone like Hector in
front to take care of them. Make sure Nino gets some EXP as well; she needs to
be level 20 by the end of this battle.

Give a flyer the Delphi Shield and go over to save the Village for a Warp
staff. Have a high Defense unit like Oswin drain out the ballistae' arrows (or
have them simply go up to them and kill the Archers inside), and then have your
flying units advance and kill everyone. Watch out for enemies with Reaver
weapons, though.

Enemy reinforcements will keep coming from the two sets of Forts; sword units
from the western and armored units from the northern. Have Nino kill off the
Knights and Generals until she hits level 20. Have Florina/Fiora get experience
from the Mercs/Myrms/Heroes if they're underleveled. Eventually, the Snipers
will start moving (on about turn 8). Steal the Guiding Ring from the one Sniper
and kill them with melee units. Give the Ring to Nino and promote her.

Eventually, Vaida will come with some Wyvern Riders, in the bottom right. Have
Eliwood talk to her, and she will join your side. However, her followers are
still enemies. Take them out with magic, axes, and arrows. There are a ton of
them, so keep on your toes.

When all the enemies are dead except for Lloyd/Linus, go down to the bottom
left corner and buy some stuff. They sell Silver weapons here, but they are a
bit pricey. Buy a few anyway. Also buy some magic/items in the Vendor's store
if you want to.

When you're ready, you can go ahead and start battling Lloyd/Linus. I don't
recommend having Nino talk with him, because then he'll start moving around.
But if you want to, go ahead. He is easily taken out with a high Resistance
lance user (Fiora or Florina) from afar. Use a Spear to kill him. He has the
Light Brand sword, which can attack from afar. He also has the Iron Rune, which
negates criticals. He drops it when he dies.

After the battle, a ton of stuff happens. Athos arrives and you convince
someone to break the seal on the Durandal, the Sword of Raging Fire. However,
Nergal appears and takes Ninian away. But Ninian gives Nils his powers before
doing so. Athos gives Eliwood the third Heaven's Seal, and he automatically
promotes into a Knight Lord. Now you head back to Lycia in order to get the
legendary weapon, the Durandal.

Ninian refuses to open the Dragon's Gate for Nergal, but Nergal isn't worried.
Meanwhile, Eliwood and his group venture into a volcanic cave, with lava
flowing everywhere. This is where the Durandal rests. Eliwood's group must pass
a test in order to earn the right to wield such a weapon. However, only Eliwood
can approach the area where it lays.

You can only deploy five characters in this Chapter, and since one of them is
Eliwood, that means four others. In my opinion, the four best that you have
right now are Hector, Nino, Fiora, and Lyn. Deploy Nino and Fiora on the left,
and Hector and Lyn on the right.

Don't step on the red spaces; they randomly shoot up fire that deals a lot of
damage to the character standing on it. Of course, it hurts the enemies as
well. You can try to make the enemies stand on these panels if you want, but
you won't get any EXP out of it, and it's a lot quicker to just go up and kill
them.

Keep moving north, towards the boss. The mages on the left are easily taken out
by Nino or Fiora. The right side has mainly Archers, but some other enemies as
well. The middle path has mostly axe users, which Eliwood can kill without too
much effort. Some enemies drop Elixirs when killed. If you get injured, use
them. A Myrmidon drops another Rapier for you.

Just keep moving north until you reach the top. Don't break down the walls at
melee range, as Georg can hit you with his Tomahawk if you do. I would break
them down with a ranged weapon, so that he can't hurt you. Now it's time to
kill him.

Georg is very, very powerful, and connects a lot as well. He is probably too
tough for Eliwood to handle without constantly using Elixirs or running back to
get healed. If you have a Physic staff, you can use him to attack Georg while
using the Physic staff to heal Eliwood. If not then I'd just use Lyn to
hopefully kill him in a turn or two with a high-critical weapon.

After Georg is dead, you have to move Eliwood on the space with an arrow on it.
Athos will meet Roland, who gives him the "Sword of Sacred Fire", Durandal.
This is one of the legendary weapons and is very useful. Eliwood vows to rescue
Ninian and put an end to Nergal's plans.

After you exit, the biggest twist in the game happens. I can't bring myself to
spoil it for you, so I'll let you watch it for yourself. I know, the slow text
is annoying, but it's worth waiting for. Let's just say Nergal is strong, Athos
isn't quite as strong, and Eliwood needs to get his spasms checked out. The
group goes to Ostia.

The group reaches Ostia. Hector is informed that Uther went to Etruria. You go
to a room, where Athos tells you more about his past with Nergal, and about a
mysterious town in the desert, called Arcadia, where dragons coexisted with
humans in peace. Nergal learned of the dragons' secrets to steal quintessence
and the craving for power drove him mad. He left for Bern and starting creating
the morphs.

All of a sudden, a soldier rushes in a tells you that Ostia castle is under
attack by Nergal's morphs. Hector tells you that you must hold them off for a
while, until reinforcements can arrive.

This battle is a pretty tough. First off, don't send any flyers in, unless they
have the Delphi Shield equipped. Four units will be separated from the rest,
towards the east. Make sure they have high Defense AND Resistance. Send out a
Thief and make sure someone has the Member's Card and Warp staff. Light magic,
Lances and Axes are all useful here, so don't send out too many sword-only
units. Healers are a must; hopefully you have Antitoxins and Restore staves.
Also, you can't send out Nils in this battle.

You don't have to do anything special to go to 29x.

The goal of this chapter is to protect Ostia's throne for 11 turns. This is
rather easily accomplished. Not losing anyone in the process is a bit more
difficult, however.

Kill off the Archers and Snipers at melee range. Most have Poison Bows, so be
cautious. Remember, even if the attack does 0 damage, if the arrow hits you
then you'll still be poisoned. Some of the Snipers have Longbows, so be aware
of that. One enemy drops a Swordslayer.

Don't have the four separated units move unless you're confident they can
handle the enemies. Try to have someone Silence/Sleep the one Druid with the
Silence/Sleep staves, if they can. It will be a big help for you later on. Make
sure weaker characters can't be attacked.

Don't worry about the Ostian Knights. Although they aren't too strong, they can
take out an enemy or two if they team up. You don't lose anything if they die,
so let them get some action if you're afraid you might lose a character. Don't
forget that you can heal allied units!

Try to get the chests ASAP. The northern chests have a Dragonshield and a White
Gem, while the southern chest has a Body Ring. Enemy Thieves will be arriving
to take the chests shortly into the battle, so either get the chests quickly or
take them out quickly.

Another priority is to kill off the two enemies with status-affecting staves.
One has a Silence staff and another has a Sleep staff. These can cause trouble
for you if you don't kill them quickly. Light magic works well against the
Shamans and Druids. Also hurry up and defeat the enemy with Eclipse, a
dangerous spell that halves the target's HP.

Look out for the Swordmaster with the Killing Edge. Make sure you use a high
Defense or high Luck lance user to defeat him, or else you may end up losing a
unit or two (or more). He is possible even more difficult than the boss, so
again, be careful.

The boss is very difficult as well. He is very powerful, accurate and fast, so
use extreme caution. Using ranged attacks is a big mistake. If you want, you
can try to trap him with four characters and beat up on him with melee attacks
until he dies; that's probably the easiest way to take him out. If not, then
try to make him switch to his Longbow before attacking him.

Reinforcements will stop coming when the boss dies. From then on just wait
until the turns are up. There is a Secret Shop in the lower left corner of the
map, but you'll have to use the Warp staff in order to get there. They sell
promotional items, so stock up!

When the turns have expired, reinforcements will arrive. Athos will finish
telling his story. Eliwood will then head for Badon in order to board the
Davros and go to Valor. Meanwhile, Nergal has finally opened the Dragon's Gate.
However, he will not summon the dragons until he has full power. He tells
Limstella to go kill Eliwood's group and take their essence.

After repelling the attack on Ostia, Eliwood decides to go to Dread Isle again.
However, the group decides to shop around in Ostia in order to prepare for the
big battle yet to come. Hector, much to Oswin's dislike, takes some money from
Ostia and goes on a shopping spree. You'll also see Marcus again, and Hector,
Lyn, and Eliwood will get a little storyline development.

Welcome to the toughest battle in the game. NOT. The only way to get a Game
Over here is to have Eliwood/Hector/Lyn lose in the Arena. No enemies, no
bosses, just pure non-stop shopping action. Send out your highest movement
characters, especially fliers.

Then just go on a shopping rampage. Spend, spend, spend like you're a crazed
millionaire who gets sick pleasure from giving away money. It's not like you're
going to use the money ever again anyway. Buy at least one of each item. If you
run out of room sell used up weapons and buy replacements. Buy stuff until the
shopkeeper begs you to stop forking over money.

Have Eliwood go up and take out the shopkeeper with money. Make sure you heal
him with money if he gets hurt. Show no mercy to the evil shopkeepers. NO
MERCY. MWAHAHAHA. Choke them with your unstoppable wealth! And take all their
stuff!

Erm, anyway... Once five turns pass this "battle" is over. You head to Badon,
in order to book passage to Valor.

You've finally reached Valor, thanks to Fargus. He says goodbye and good luck
to you as you head off towards the Dragon's Gate. However, he forgets to give
you something important. Nils, who no longer lives in fear, volunteers to
deliver it to the group.

Meanwhile, Nergal tells Limstella, his "masterpiece", to go destroy Eliwood
with her powerful magic, even though she will soon be corrupted by it. Eliwood
gets close to the Dragon's Gate, but Limstella attacks. Nils gives Eliwood the
Earth Seal from Fargus and the battle is underway.

Send out a variety of units in this battle. If you want all the treasures then
you should split up into three smaller groups, with a variety of weapons in
each. Only send out one flier, with the Delphi Shield equipped. Also send out a
Sniper or two in order to take advantage of the ballistae. Other than that send
out your best units.

Send one Axe, Sword, and Anima unit north. Send a Light, Sword, Axe and another
magic user east. Everyone else should go up the middle, especially your bow
units and some magic/axe users. The center is where most of the fighting takes
place.

When you step over certain areas of the map, enemy reinforcements will appear
out of nowhere. However, they will remain hidden until you cross these points.
All three routes contain these "traps", so you'll have to trigger them if you
want to beat the Chapter.

The middle group should quickly take out the Sage and Swordmaster. The Sage has
the annoying Bolting spell, as well as Fimbulvetr, while the Swordmaster has
the extremely dangerous Wo Dao sword. Try to take him out at a safe distance,
as he will critical like crazy.

All the Wyvern Riders will usually attack the middle group. Take the ballistae
