Fire Emblem - Strategy Guide (Page 08)
Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Fire Emblem - Strategy Guide (Page 08).
No Conversations Eliwood reaches the palace in Bern in order to search for the missing Fire Emblem. The group comments on how the palace is well defended. The three sneak inside the garden in the palace, and will watch a scene unfold between Desmond, Guinivere, Zephiel, and Murdock (Zephiel's attendant). Desmond tells Zephiel and Murdock to stay away, and Sonia will eventually come. She tells him that the Emblem is in the Black Fang's hideout. When Desmond mentions his "other request", Sonia tells him that one of the Four Fangs will take care of it (I don't want to spoil it for you). Your group realizes that the rebellion in Lycia has failed so now they will try to start a revolt in Bern. Eliwood and company plan to go look for the Fang's hideout, but a group of Wyvern Riders spot Nils. The leader is working for Bern, but has a contract with Nergal and plans to take away Nils and Ninian and give them back to the Black Fang. Eliwood, Lyn and Hector are in her way. You are split into three groups in this battle; one towards the palace, one to the south and the third to the southeast. However, you should have little trouble with the weak enemies, despite being separated. Make sure you deploy at least two bow users (Louise will automatically be deployed, and she is a Sniper), as well as a Thief to steal the Knight's Crest from the Cavalier. Everyone else is up to you; make sure you have a variety of units. Pent and Louise will join you at the beginning of this Chapter. Pent will give Eliwood a Heaven Seal, but Eliwood can't use it. Give it to Hector or Lyn in order for them to promote. Have the northern group go east in order to clear out the enemies and have access to the shop. Pent should take the lead, but make sure Louise is behind him so that their support kicks in! The weapon shop contains Killer weapons, and the vendor has the rare Elfire spell. Have a Falcoknight wipe out the Brigands coming down the mountains. Send most of your people up towards Eliwood's group, but have a few go southwest towards the lone Village (make sure your Thief is in this group!!!). Also have a couple more head towards the enemies scattered around in the south. Oh yeah, have a few stay behind to guard Merlinus. Make sure you stay out of Vaida's range in this battle. She is one tough, ugly cookie, thanks to dark magic increasing her stats a bit. There is also another benefit of keeping her alive, which I don't want to spoil. There is a Shaman that drops the Luna spell to the south of her, but you have to lure him towards you if you don't want Vaida to come down. Steal the Knight's Crest from the Cavalier in the south before killing him. Keep heading towards the village, killing any enemies along the way (mostly Nomads). In the village you'll meet Ursula, who is jealous of Vaida. She will give you the useful Hammerne staff, which can repair weapons to their maximum durability. Bow and magic users will have a field day in this Chapter. Wyvern Knights will descend from everywhere. A total of 8 Wyvern reinforcements will come in the northeast corner, so make sure you take advantage of the Forests near where they spawn. After 11 turns have passed, Vaida will retreat. Lyn decides to use her Sacaen tracking skills to follow them to their hideout. =============================================================================== Chapter 25: Pale Flower of Darkness (Kenneth) =============================================================================== Objective: Seize the throne. Vaida asks Sonia for another chance at dealing with the Lycian group, but is refused. Ursula is given the job. Meanwhile Sonia asks Jaffar to take Nino with him and go assassinate Prince Zephiel. Jaffar hesitantly follows her orders, and goes. Sonia also leaves with her husband and leaves someone in charge. Depending on the levels of some of your characters, this map will be different. If your "mage" characters (Erk, Lucius, Canas, Pent, Serra, and Priscilla) have higher levels than your "hero" characters (Raven, Guy, Bartre, Dorcas, Geitz) then you will fight Kenneth in this Chapter. If it's the other way around, then you will fight Jerme (see the next section). This battle has a lot of magic users, so deploy your Pegasus Knights and magic users. A couple of bow users are helpful as well. Make sure you deploy a Thief, in order to steal all the treasures. Try to pick out the units with the highest Resistance. The reason this battle is so hard is that you're in a small corner, have little movement range (thanks to snow), and enemies are beating your ass down with long range spells such as Purge, Eclipse, and Bolting. Depending on whether you want Karel or Harken, you must defeat a certain amount of these promoted enemies by turn 10. If you want Karel, kill at least three. If you want Harken, kill two at most. After they arrive you can kill the rest. If you want Harken, then try to stay put in the corner, so that the magic users can't attack you. However, you may want to send up a Pegasus Knight (don't send Heath!) to kill the Mage with Bolting so that he will drop it (he won't drop it if he uses it all up). Also make sure to kill the General/Sage that will attack Merlinus. Once you do so have someone with high Evade go in the building and stand on the pillar in order to drain the enemies' attacks. You will want to move north after it stops snowing, because a Thief will pop up in order to take the treasures. If you want Karel, though, you'll have to go kill some promoted guys. The General and Sage are the two easy ones. You can either go after the Bishop with the Purge spell (you'll either have to nail him with a Javelin or open the door, go in and kill him), or the Druid with Eclipse (a nasty spell which reduces HP by 1/2). Just make sure you kill at least three altogether. Lots of reinforcements will arrive, including half a dozen Wyvern Riders (two of them appear near Merlinus, so watch out!), a bunch of magic users and a Thief. Make sure you kill the Thief ASAP, as it will take the valuable treasures before fleeing. Once turn 9 arrives, it will start snowing again, and either Karel or Harken will appear on the map. Talk to them with someone (Eliwood/Hector/Lyn for Karel, Eliwood/Hector/Marcus/Lowen/Isadora for Harken) in order to convert them to your side. Pray that if Harken comes, he doesn't kill your character with his Brave Sword. Karel appears as an allied NPC, so you won't have to worry about his Wo Dao ripping you up. But he will head straight to his death if you don't hurry up and convert him. After they arrive it shouldn't be that hard to make a path to the throne. Kill off any enemies for EXP if you want (hopefully, you have decided your "best team" and have promoted all the characters in it by now). The promoted enemy units especially give good experience. Have Legault/Matthew open the chests for a Blue Gem, Guiding Ring, and a Talisman. Kenneth, the boss, is pretty tough with his Aura spell. Your best bet is to have a FalcoKnight (Fiora) take care of him with a powerful weapon like the Killer Lance. Make sure they have people that Support them close to them, in order to make killing him as easy as possible! When Kenneth dies he drops the almighty Aura spell. Have Eliwood seize the throne. After the battle, Eliwood comes across the Fire Emblem. Now he and the group must return to Bern in order to stop Zephiel's assassination. Meanwhile, Sonia promises her daughter, Nino, that she will respect her if she completes this mission. But after Nino leaves, Sonia gives Jaffar a new order... Not even someone as emotionless as Jaffar can believe what he's hearing! But he goes on to complete his mission anyway. =============================================================================== Chapter 25: Pale Flower of Darkness (Jerme) =============================================================================== Objective: Defeat all enemy units. If it's the other way around, then you will fight Jerme. Send out both Thieves, as well as many different types of units. You will fight quite a variety of enemies in this battle. A few mages and bow users are helpful, as well as healers, a few good axe/lance/sword users and some healers. Make sure you give Door Keys to some characters. If you want Harken, then just stay put for a while. For some defenses at where you start and let the enemy come to you. Various enemies will try to attack you from the east while a pair of Brigands comes down from the west. Take out the winged enemies with bows, or for the Wyvern units use magic. If you want Karel and got this map, then you're going to have to work hard. You'll have to open at least 4 doors by turn 9. Thankfully, the snow will stop by turn 3, giving you easier access to the doors. Open the first door above you and take out the two Brigands and Warrior with a swordsman like Lyn or Guy. Now split up your group; have one go north and the other go east. Make sure each has someone that can open doors (someone who has a Lockpick/Door Key). The northwest building has a bunch of Archers/Snipers, so take them out with melee units. Open the chest for a Talisman. Note that even two different doors opened in this building, it only counts as one. The second building to the east has two chests with a Bolting and a White Gem. If you have some long range attackers go inside the building, then they will be able to attack the enemies outside without fear of being counterattacked. Of course, it will start snowing again soon. Just try to rush as fast as possible to the doors if you want to get Karel. Open four different doors to get him, or three at most to get Harken. On turn 9, one of the two will arrive; Karel as an ally in the bottom right corner, or Harken as an enemy in the area south of the northeastern building. Talk to Karel with either Eliwood, Hector, or Lyn, or talk to Harken with either Eliwood, Hector, Marcus, Lowen, or Isadora in order to convert them. Go around opening doors and killing the enemies inside. The bottom building has a General and two Knights inside, and the building south of the northeastern one has two Mercs and a Hero. Don't open the northeastern door yet, as that's where the boss is. The chest in the bottom building has a Hero Crest. Watch out for the reinforcements. Wyvern units will try to come down and attack Merlinus, so leave magic users/bow users/axe users down there. Various promoted enemies will appear towards the northeast and will come down to attack you. Some of them have Reaver weapons, so take note of that and use the weapons which are strong against them. After you get all the chests and stuff, get prepared to fight Jerme. You'll need someone that has a somewhat high Defense and Resistance, and can use Lances. Oswin and Fiora fit this description perfectly. Give a high Resistance axe user a Door Key and open the northeastern door. Two Myrmidons with Lancereavers will attack you, but if you had an axe user open the door they should be killed quite easily. However, Jerme is quite difficult to beat. He has a Light Brand sword, which can attack at close range or at long range with a Light magic spell. Have Fiora/Oswin take him out up close with their Lances. Since he is an Assassin, he can instantly kill your characters; but this is quite rare. When he dies, he drops his Light Brand. =============================================================================== Chapter 26: Battle before Dawn =============================================================================== Objective: Protect Zephiel for 15 turns. Nino -> Jaffar Go to 28x, and Jaffar will join after battle. Eliwood -> Zephiel No effect. Eliwood and his group backtrack to Bern, with the Fire Emblem in tow. Meanwhile, Jaffar and Nino have been sent to assassinate Prince Zephiel. They overhear him praying, and Jaffar knocks him unconscious and tells Nino to kill him. Nino takes pity on Zephiel, however, and Jaffar ends up taking pity on both of them. They try to flee and abandon the Black Fang. However, they meet up with Ursula, who sees that Nino is still alive. She sends the Black Fang to kill Zephiel, Jaffar, and Nino. Eliwood arrives just in time. Make sure you send out both Thieves for this battle, as Ursula has turned out the lights in the castle. There are enemies of all types in here, so make sure you also deploy a variety of units. Again, almost everyone that you're planning on using should be promoted. Bring Torches and Keys. If you want to get to Chapter 26x, then you have to have Nino talk to Jaffar. Oh yeah, if you got Merlinus in 13x, deployed him in every battle since, and haven't gotten him killed once, then this is where he promotes into a mobile Transporter. He does this automatically at the deployment screen; I found it sort of funny watching his tent change into a horse 'n buggy, with the dramatic music and lightning flashes in the background. :) Your goal is to protect Zephiel, but if you hurry up and get down there, then you shouldn't have any problems with that. He can take out maybe a single enemy with his Silver Sword, but that's it. It's best if you Rescue him with someone and get him out of harm's way. You'll want to split your group into two, with one group going west and another going east. Your main objectives are to get the chests, and to get the Rescue staff it requires almost perfect planning (it took me over half a dozen tries to get it). Place your best 8-movement "tank" (a promoted Heath or Lowen work well, but my Kent did the job as well) at the lead of the left group and give him a Door Key. Make sure he has a Lance equipped. Have him move straight down towards Jaffar and the chests. If you work fast enough he should be able to get down there and kill the Thief before he even opens the door. You'll have to watch out for the Heroes though, as they are pretty powerful. As for the group on the right, have another high movement character with a long-range weapon equipped go straight down towards Nino. Have other characters kill the enemies in the way. The character you sent down should attack the Monk that's fighting Nino with their long range weapon, and proceed towards the door and kill the Thief. Have your own Thieves now come down and open the chests. They contain a Brave Lance, a Rescue staff, a Delphi Shield and a pair of Boots. If the enemy Thieves got to them first then you can steal the Delphi Shield and Boots back before you kill them. But you won't be able to get the Rescue staff or Brave Lance. Jaffar can easily hold his own in this battle. By the time I got to him he had taken out almost every enemy and had taken 0 damage. He even kills Maxime for you. So don't worry about him. Nino, though, is a different story. She is a weak level 5 Mage that will be killed quite easily if you don't get to her. Have Eliwood talk to her and convert her ASAP. Make sure you have Nino talk with Jaffar, in order to get to 26x! But you have to be careful getting her over there to talk with him, because Ursula has a long range Magic spell that can easily take her out. It's strong enough to even kill Jaffar in two hits! So either kill Ursula before you try to have Nino talk with Jaffar or have someone Rescue Jaffar/Nino and place them close to each other. There is a Bishop in the lower right corner. Make sure that you kill him! He drops a second Elysian Whip (I used it to promote Florina). Make sure you kill him with someone like Fiora or Florina, as he has a pretty powerful Light magic spell called "Divine". There will be tons and tons of reinforcements in this level, far too many for me to keep track of. Most of them come from the bottom left corner, but there will be Shamans appearing above where Jaffar and Zephiel are. Make sure you're well prepared to be attacked from any given side at any given moment. After you have Nino and Jaffar talk, and after you get the chests, you can kill Ursula for some extra EXP if you want. The person best suited for the job is either Fiora or Florina. My Fiora killed her in two hits with her Silver Lance. She won't be able to attack you back if she has the Bolting spell equipped, so make sure you kill her off in one turn. After Ursula is dead there should be few enemies remaining in the area. Watch out for a General and a Hero in the lower left corner. Other than those two they're run-of-the-mill enemies. Just wait until 15 turns have passed, and you will have completed this Chapter. If you had Nino talk with Jaffar, then both will join you, despite Hector's hatred for Jaffar. Now Eliwood plans to go straighten things out with Queen Hellene. If you didn't kill off Ursula, then Limstella meets up with her anyway... And you can guess what happens. Eliwood meets with Hellene, and gives her the Fire Emblem. Hellene is now happy that her son can rule in Bern. However, when Eliwood asks if she only used her son for political gains, she is outraged and sends the group away. However, as they are about to leave, Hellene changes and give Eliwood directions to the Shrine of Seals, as well as the second Heaven Seal. And then Hellene and Zephiel make a promise to try and be a family with Guinivere and Desmond. =============================================================================== Chapter 26x: Night of Farewells =============================================================================== Objective: Recommended Deployment: Eliwood*, Nino*, Fiora, Florina, Heath, Lyn, Rath, Priscilla, Hector, Oswin, Hawkeye, Guy, Serra, Legault Difficulty: **** Boss(es): Maxime, Ursula Enemies: 28 Bishop x1 Cavalier x1 Druid x1 General x1 Hero x1 Mage x1 Mercenary x1 Monk x1 Myrmidon x1 Nmd Trooper x1 Paladin x1 Pirate x5 Sage x2 Shaman x1 Sniper x1 Wyvern Lord x2 Wyvern Rider x6 Reinforcements? Hector is hesitant to help Jaffar, though, after what he did to Leila. Meanwhile, Limstella stops by Sonia to tell her the news about Zephiel, and that Eliwood is still living. Sonia has no choice but to kill them herself. Meanwhile, Brendan Reed steps in at the wrong time, and Sonia reveals her true self to him. They engage in battle, but Sonia is the victor, despite being injured. Limstella gets Brendan's quintessence and goes away. Jaffar and Nino wander in the Water Temple. Nino's Uncle Jan tells them to run, but Sonia notices the intruders. She tells Nino the true story about her life, about her real parents and what happened to them, and how she came to the Black Fang. Jaffar vows to kill her. After this, Eliwood's group runs in and the battle begins. This is where I'd use your Afa's Drops. Use them on Nino and if you get her maxed out, she will become stronger than she normally would (and that says a lot). This is a great place to level her up. But be careful, as she is quite weak and frail. You'll want someone guarding her at all times.
