Astro Boy: Omega Factor - Strategy Guide (Page 05)

Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Astro Boy: Omega Factor - Strategy Guide (Page 05).

The Blue Knight really being President Rag is a twist
       written for this game.

  26 - ALEJO
At the start of stage 1-2, break the upper-right glass.

He is a kid who is very knowledgeable about Metro City.
He may hold a clue to solving the mysteries of this game.
This character is thought to be a representation of Osamu
       Tezuka himself.

In the manga, "Captain Atom," Astro actually plays a
side character, while Alejo plays one of the main characters.
There is even a scene where a battle between Astro and Alejo
       takes place.

  27 - ABERCROMBIE
During the 'Rebirth', rescue Abercrombie at the end of
       stage 4-1.

He is the son of a scientist living in Antarctica.
Though he seems a little too laid back, he may have some
valuable information. Although he used to be a bully with
a mean look in the original comic, he changed to become a
rather mellow character over the years.

His name is spelled as "Four Fences" in Japanese.

  28 - KENNEDY
At the start of stage 5-2, go to your left and destroy
       the garbage can.

A kid detective who can beat most adult detectives.
He may have key information. Though he doesn't stand out,
he has played several main characters. Examples are
       "Metropolis" and "Chief Detective Kennedy."

His full name is Kenichi Shikishima.

  29 - BOON
Visit Boon when you have unlocked stage 0-4. Talk to him
again when you have already seen Ambassador Magma. Go to
stage 6-3 and talk to Don Dracula. Return to stage 0-4 to
       unlock Boon.

He is an archeologist who discovered the ruins of the
Mu civilization. He does not believe in anything that cannot
be explained scientifically. He is also known as Marukubi
Boon. He first appeared in the "Robot Bombs" episode of
       Astro Boy in 1956.

He also played the Kairyuoh in "The Devil Garon." He
has a wide range of roles, often playing good and bad guys.

  30 - MAGMA
At stage 2-5, you need to destroy one of the metal
parts of the lift. To make sure you find him, face
right and keep on using the arm cannon.

He is usually called "Ambassador Magma." A Rocket-Man
created by the guardian god of Earth, "Master Earth." Magma,
his wife, and his son can all be summoned by a special whistle.
The live-action version created by P Productions is possibly
the most famous. Tezuka was friends with the cartoonist,
Ushiosouji of P Productions. There is much material that was
created, but not published in the manga.

The live-action version featured animation that was
revolutionary at the time. It was created by Kenzou Masaoka,
who is the father of animation. It was a very influential
relationship that Osamu Tezuka had with him.

  31 - DAICHI
During the 'Rebirth', defeat Atlas at stage 3-5
       after rescuing Pinoko.

He is a new character from the new anime series. Atlas
is the Greek god of Earth, and "Daichi" means "earth" in
Japanese. His relationship with Prime Rose was specifically
       created for this game.

The rocket-shaped design on the back of Atlas' original
design may have been influenced by the Atlas rocket being
developed in United States at the time. Atlas, was first
introduced in 1956 and the Atlas rocket was launched in 1957.

  32 - PRIME ROSE
During the 'Rebirth', defeat Atlas at stage 3-5
       after rescuing Pinoko.

Drake's daughter. She is in an artificial hibernation
capsule due to an illness. Originally, she was from "Prime
Rose," a series in "Weekly Shonen Champion." "Prime Rose"
became an anime in 1983. The name used in this game, "Prime
Rose," is her name in the original comic.

The ending of the anime is closer to Tezuka's vision
than the end of the comic. She is in her school's fencing
club, which is why she has that outfit.

  33 - DRAKE
During the 'Rebirth', defeat Atlas at stage 3-5
       after rescuing Pinoko.

International Federal Councilor who appeared out of
nowhere. His goal was to prevent robots from acquiring power,
which made him popular. He is a famous character in Osamu
       Tezuka's animations, particularly in "Adolph."

It is said that he was based on Osamu Tezuka's classmate
from grade school. He was popular for his ability to make a
candle stand on the back of his neck.

  34 - JETTER MARS
At the start of stage 3-1, fly upwards and destroy
the wall(block) second from the top. You need to have
upgraded Astro's jet stat. Or just perform an EX Dash
upwards until you reach the block.

A super robot that had secretly been developed. The
completion date was set for 2015. He was the main character
in the self-titled anime released in 1977. He looks similar
to Astro because Tezuka designed him as modification of
Astro. But unlike the super hero Astro, Jetter Mars is much
more human-like. His body was built to grow and change, just
as humans do as they age.

Dr. Yamanoue appears instead of Dr. O'Shay (Dr. Ochanomizu
in Japanese). There is a "Yamanoue Hotel" in front of the
       "Ochanomizu" train station in Japan.

  35 - FUMOON
At stage 3-3, break the invisible wall on one of the
       platforms.

New type of human created on Batei Island. They are
researching the universe. Fumoon is actually the name of
her race, and her real name is "Rococo." She first
appears in "The Next World" in 1951. The new design was
based on the 1980's anime episode, "Fumoon." Sho Sakaguchi,
student of Osamu Tezuka, acted in and developed that
episode. It was rare for Tezuka to trust someone to have
such a big role in his animations. Sakaguchi was also
involved with the animes "Bunder Book" and "Phoenix 2772."
Sakaguchi was the concept artist for "Marine Express" as
       well.

The title "The Next World" came from H.G.Wells' movie
"Things to Come." ("Noah" was apparently the initial title
that Osamu Tezuka planned to use.) Titles of his early works
were heavily influenced by Western movies. Some movie titles
Tezuka was fond of are "Metropolis" and "Lost World."
Ironically, the futuristic world of "Metropolis" was supposedly
Wells' inspiration for "Things to Come."

  36 - HECATE
At stage 3-4, go to the upper-left portion of the
screen after defeating all the enemies.

She collects human's sorrow and pain to use them as
ingredients for her magic. She originally appears in the
anime "Princess Knight." Her personality and design are
very different between the comic and the anime. Her
personality changed from a very tomboy-ish girl to a very
       introverted girl.

This Hecate is based on the "Princess Knight" that
appeared in "Nakayoshi." Hecate is pronounced "Heh-ka-te"
in Greek. Hecate is the Greek goddess of darkness.

  37 - UNICO
At stage 6-2 in the first screen, defeat all enemies
first. After clearing the wave of enemies, fly straight
up and destroy the stone on the floating platform. You
need to have upgraded Astro's jet stat to at least level
       3. Or just perform an EX Dash upwards until you reach the
       block.

The child of a unicorn who brings people happiness,
granting a wish to whoever finds him. He first appeared in
the magazine "Ririka," from 11/76 to 03/79. The pilot episode
of the anime was aired on TV in 1976. A sequel, "Unico: To
the Magic Island," was made in 1983. There was also a special
episode made called "Saving Our Fragile Earth."

"Unico: To the Magic Island" is definitely worth checking
out for its amazing art, and for its script by Moribi Murano
(of "The Sword of Kamui" fame). Yoshiaki Kawajiri also acted
as screen coordinator on this project.

  38 - DON DRACULA
Destroy the 2nd door of the Marine Express at
       stage 6-3.

Prime minister of Mu. He is secretly aiming to take over
as king. He was a main character in self-titled comic which
ran in "Weekly Shonen Champion" from May 1979 to December 1979.
He is a comical vampire who comes to Japan. The character he
plays in this game is taken from his role in "Marine Express."

8 episodes of an anime based on him were made, but it was
       cancelled after 4 episodes.

  39 - HAM EGG
During the 'Rebirth', defeat the boss at stage 0-3.

A villain who hangs around Black Jack, pretending that he
is watching over him. He is an important side character in
Tezuka's stories. He acts as the director of a circus in
"Chronicles of Astro Boy." For the 2003 anime version, he acts
as a promoter for sport robot battles.

His name in the Astro Boy anime, "Cruciform Island," is
"4-Sided Square." His performance was a masterpiece in "Jungle
Emperor: Leo" (1997). Danshi Tachigawa, one of the voice actors,
is known to be a fan of Tezuka.

  40 - PINOKO
During the 'Rebirth', go to stage 0-3 with at least
a level 3 sensor. Go to stage 2-3 and talk to Rainbow
Parakeet. Go to stage 2-6 and rescue her from Skunk.

She is a daughter of Black Jack. In the original comic,
Black Jack operated on her to reassemble her body, which had
been torn apart. She is part cyborg and has a very twisted
       backstory.

Since she spent 18 years with her body in pieces, but
       she looks like a child.

  41 - BLACK JACK
During the 'Rebirth', defeat the boss at stage 0-3.

The world's best surgeon who operates without a license.
He was the main character in the self-titled comic in "Weekly
Shonen Champion." He is one of the most popular characters
out of all of Tezuka's characters. His real name is Kuroo
Hazama. The huge scar on his face is from an accident he had
when he was a young boy.

He co-starred with Astro in the anime epsiode "Major
       operations by Black Jack."

  42 - POOK
       Defeat Pook at stage 2-6.

A transforming robot built with technology that is
beyond our time. He can transform into many forms. No one
knows what his true form is. He is actual an ancient robot
created by the Mu civilization. In this game, he appears at
"Cruciform Island," but not as himself. His appearance is
that of a different character. Can you figure out why?

His real identity is "Pick," who is a part of "Garon,"
but he has lost his memory. When Pick is awakened, a "W"
appears on his forehead. "Quntole" means condor in Quenchuan,
the language of the Inca, Empire.

  43 - GARON
During the 'Rebirth', defeat Garon at stage 8-3.

The most powerful super robot sent to Earth from outer
space. He has the power to change the climate of an entire
planet. But without Pick functioning as his heart, he is a
soulless monster. The original comic, "The Devil Garon," ran
in "Boukenoh" from July 1957 to July 1967. In a previous battle,
Astro couldn't defeat him, so he sent him into outer space.

Nissan Productions produced a pilot of a live-action
version in 1971. However, it was never aired. "Thunder Mask"
was a manga that was created in response to this.

  44 - SHARAKU
During the 'Rebirth', finish the game(stage 8-5).
At the "THE END" screen, do not press START. Wait for a
few minutes until an event occurs.

An ancient prince who rules over the land of Mu. His 3rd
eye grants him psy power. He is the main character, "Hosuke
Sharaku," in the anime "The Three-Eyed One." His character
in this game is based on Prince Sharaku in "Marine Express."
       (1979)

His name is meant to sound similar to Sherlock Holmes in
Japanese. His name was "Red Condor" in the "Three-Eyed One"
anime in 1990. "Aztlan" and "Mictlan" are the names of Aztec
       heaven and hell.

  45 - DR. TENMA
Visit Dr. Tenma's house (stage 0-5). Go to stage 6-2 and
talk to Unico. Return to stage 0-5 and Dr. Tenma will
       appear.

He knows the secrets of Astro's origins. He has watched
Astro's every move. He is actually Astro's true father. This
fact is not revealed in the beginning of the new version of
the anime. He was the director at the Science Ministry, and
was Dr. O'Shay's predecessor. He first appeared in 1951 in
"Captain Atom." He's always been a mean character.

Details about him, like his name "Umataro," were in
"Chronicles of Astro Boy." He was born on the year of the horse.
A native Japanese from Gunma prefecture. After graduating from
Gunma University, he passed the Science Commission Exam. He
excelled in research of the hippocampus. He was soon promoted
to director at the Science Ministry. In his stories, Osamu
Tezuka often uses puns and double meaning s in many of his
references. He studied the hippocampus, which is thought to
control memories. Dr. Tenma is also haunted by the memories of
his own son, in a sad twist of irony.

  46 - PHOENIX
Finish the 'Birth' part of the game.

A mysterious alien lifeform who is immortal. Tezuka was
influenced by Stravinsky's music when he made this character.
This is the main character of a series which Tezuka spent
his whole life on. The length of the series stretches over
       30 years.

"Dawn" (Manga Shonen July 1954 - May 1955)
"Egypt, Greek, Roma" (Shoujo Club May 1956 - December 1957)
"Dawn" (COM January - November 1967)
"The Future" (COM December 1967 - September 1968)
          "Yamato" (COM September 1968 - February 1969)
"Universe" (COM March - July 1969)
          "Phoenix" (COM August 1969 - September 1970)
          "Rebirth" (COM October 1970 - September 1971)
"Robe of Feathers" (COM October 1971)
"Nostalgia" (Manga Shonen September 1976 - March 1978)
"Turbulent Times" (Manag Shonen April 1978 - July 1980)
"Life" (Manga Shonen August - December 1980)
"Corruption" (Manga Shonen January - April 1981)
"Sun" (Yasei Jidai January 1986 - February 1988)

Kon Ichikawa directed the live version of "Dawn" in 1978,
the TV version of "Phoenix" in 1986, and "Universe" and
       "Yamato" in 1987.

Osamu Tezuka put much effort into "Phoenix 2772 - The Love
of Cosmozone" in 1980. Many new technologies were developed to
create it. Satomi Mikuriya did the mecha design, and also
converted it into a comic. The scene where a character drives
an air car was called the "Giant Rotation Scene." This is because
they built a city model with a fully animated moving background,
and filmed 700 cuts of that model. This amazing production was
made possible by the famous animator Junji Kobayashi. After this
project, he worked on another short film called "Jumping," which
used 4000 moving background images, all in a single cut. Unique
animation techniques were used in the making of this movie. By
overlapping 2 or 3 still tres, he was able to simulate full
animation. This was an original idea that was thought by Osamu
Tezuka to blend limited animation and full animation together.

7. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q1. Did you just made up these questions?
  A1. Most of them. :)

Q2. Who the heck is ? He's not from
      the original Astro Boy series.
A2. I had the same problem when I played the game.
Check out the "Tezuka Osamu @ World" website.

  Q3. How do I unlock ?
A3. Check the "Character List" section.

Q4. Why is the game so easy?
A4. You probably played in the easy or normal difficulty.
Start a new game. After entering your initials,
select the hard difficulty. Good luck finishing
      the game without any continues.

Q5. Can you give more information about Astro Boy?
A5. Sure. Astro Boy first started as a manga that
appeared serially in "Shonen" from April 1952
      to March 1968.

The first Astro Boy anime series was aired
on 1963. The B/W Astro Boy series was broadcasted
by Fuji TV, spanned 193 episodes and lasted almost
      four years.

A second Astro Boy anime series was made on
1980. The story remained the same but it elaborated
on the Astro-Atlas rivalry. The series spanned 52
episodes. This version was also translated into
      different languages.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the first
Astro Boy anime, Tezuka Productions started a new
series. The story remains the same but there will
be appearances of different characters made by the
      late Osamu Tezuka.

Q6. I hate the localized names. Anyway to change them?
A6. I remember getting myself modded at the
message board for this issue with the names. If you
don't give a crap about the story, change your language
setting to Japanese. You'll get the original names
for the characters. Too bad SEGA fixed Pruto's name...

Q7. The stage select option does not work. How come?
A7. The "stage select" only allows you to select stages
you have accessed when the option becomes available.

Q8. I already have the Japanese import.
Should I buy this NA version?
A8. YES! The NA version is the better game. Check out the
      "Japan VS NA" section.

Q9. Is this the first Astro Boy game?
A9. No. The NES, SNES, and PS2 also have Astro Boy games.
