Ganbare Goemon: Toukai Douchuu - Strategy Guide (Page 02)
Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Ganbare Goemon: Toukai Douchuu - Strategy Guide (Page 02).
- Enter the house to the west to find Amaterasu's little brother, Susano.
You learn that Amaterasu is mad at her brother for losing something
precious of her's so she's gone and trapped herself up a cliff. The
only way to get her out of there is to entertain her and make her
laugh. Ebisu thinks he might be able to do it.
- Return to the spot where you ignored two men. Change to Ebisu and perform
the Bali Drill. Amaterasu the sun goddess will come out and Goemon learns
how the villagers have been keeping the Kabuto as a ward for evil since
the great battle. When she learns of how Masakado's spirit had been
searching for it all these years so that he can finally rest, she agrees
to give it back. Unfortunately, his little brother had lost it while
playing around with it. He's dropped it in a pool and now a dragon's
swallowed it.
- BOSS: Haniwa Dragon
To damage this boss, you have to knock the big Haniwa off the dragon.
The dragon will attack in the same pattern repeatedly; jump over
bridge, spray fire from the side and try to crush you with its head
while each time calling for helpers. This first part takes a lot of
long ranged attacks unless you want the battle to last a long time.
After it gets to about half of its health, it will go berserk sweeping
the bridge with fire, rolling its head across the bridge and showering
you with bombs. You can dodge these atacks by hiding in the bottom
right corner. I used Sasuke for the first half of the fight then Yae
with her homing shots.
- Now that you've retrieved Masakado's Kabuto, take it back to him in
Maisaka.
*Maisaka
- Masakado thanks everyone and finally gets to rest in peace, leaving
behind the Kusanagi's Sword. Just as Goemon thought they had it, Peruri
appears and takes it from them. A passage opens up for Goemon and his
companions to go after him.

| Chapter 6 |
| |
| Hide & Seek with the Seven Deities of Fortune |
| |
+-----------------------------------------------+
- Go right to catch up with Peruri. You find out he's collecting the 3
Weapons of the Heavens to take over Japan. Being fed up with Goemon and
his friends, he destroys the bridge so that they can't follow him. Yae
suggests they head to the nearby village of Fujikawa to find a way
across.
*Fujikawa
- Go west into the village then enter through the wooden gates to meet
Echizennokami. He tells you that rumours have it the Seven Deities of
Fortune live in a mansion nearby. If they go speak to them politely, they
might help and grant their wish to cross the broken bridge.
- Head to the area in the west to find the mansion. If you speak with a man
in one of the houses, you learn that it's good manners to knock 4 times
so, using your stylus, knock on the circle on the door 4 times quickly.
- One of the deities, Ebisu the Deity of Wealth appears. You learn that his
power is too weak to grant Goemon's wish at the moment and so requires
them to gather the Seven Deity Tamas together first. The deity
already has one but the rest are scattered outside of town and you
have to go find them. Before everyone leaves, the deity gives Ebisu the
ability to break gas. To do this, equip him with his Shuriken then hold
the attack key and release.
- Exit the through the south of the village and use Ebisu's new ability on
the circle to lower the bridge. Cross over and into the area.
*Okasaki
- Make your way onto the bridge with the octopus sign. Take the exit to the
right first to find an old man meditating under waterfall. He doesn't
hear you so, you have to catch his attention. Climb up the ladder then
float to the right. Rub the Tengu pot and a rope with appear. Climb up
the rope and jump onto the bright yellow rock to the left. Use the stylus
again to stop the water from coming out. Now jump back down.
- The Deity of Longevity is not happy to be disturbed but, hearing Goemon
and his friends explain what they were trying to do, he agrees to lend
them his Tama. But first, you must fix the waterfall again. Once you've
done that, jump back down to get the Tama.
- Return to the octopus bridge and go down the left exit into a bamboo
area. Here you must do a quick slash motion with your stylus wherever you
see some sparkling bamboo. The Deity of Elegance is hiding in the bamboo
in the SW corner of the map. At first she doesn't hand it over because
Ebisu calls her an old woman but, thanks to Sasuke referring to her as a
beautiful woman, she hands it over.
- Go back to the octopus bridge and use the pig bridge to the south like
you did before. Go into the next area.
*Miya
- Climb down the ladder to the right of the red gate you just came
through and use Goemon to pull out the bottom block. Use your stylus to
rub the statue without a hat and the Guardian Deity will appear.
- After you get the Tama, go SW to blow up the boulder with Sasuke then
follow the new path NW. Go past the area with scarecrows to find a
fireball spouting statue. Here you must use Sasuke to throw bombs into
its mouth. Do this 10 times and you'll rescue another Deity of Fortune
who was trapped inside.
- Return to where you blew up the boulder and follow the other path SW.
You'll reach a temple. Go inside to do some Japanese calligraphy with
your stylus.
*Yokkaichi
- You will be writing 3 Hiragana characters, 'te' in the left room, 'i' in
the middle room you enter and 'ho' in the right room.
'ho' is the hardest to do even for Japanese players due to the
recognition system and is also the first character you must complete to
solve this puzzle. So, head into the right room first and complete it.
What you have to do here is finish the character within 4 strokes in
the following order.
(1)| ----- <=(2)
| | <=(4)
| ----- <=(3)
| _|
| | \
| -----
So, following the given template and my little diagram above...
(1) Vertical stroke from top to bottom.
(2) Top horizontal stroke from left to right.
(3) Middle horizontal stroke again, from left to right.
(4) Start from the middle of stroke 2, down through stroke 3 then finally
the curve to finish it off.
Try to keep your stylus within the template. This may take a few tries
and if you make a mistake, an orange box will appear so that you have to
start again. Once you successfully complete a character, an orange swirl
will appear. Now go into the left room to complete 'te' and then the 'i'
in the middle room. These two Kana characters must be done in one
stroke starting from the left.
Once you've completed the Kana characters in the order of 'ho' 'te' 'i',
Hotei Deity will appear and give you another Tama. Just one more to go.
*Miya
- Exit the temple and return to the spot where you found the statue without
a hat. Go into the next area to the east and make your way up to find the
last deity (checkout the JP ASCII smilies).
*Kuwana
- The deity will ask you if you are free (Yes/No). Answer yes then get
ready to play a game of "hit the mole". You must hit the deity around 80
times within the time limit before an orange box will appear letting you
know you've won. After a bit more fun with chatroom style text, you
receive the last Tama. Make your way back to Fujikawa to hand them in to
the deity Ebisu.
*Fujikawa
- Knock on the door 4 times and Ebisu will appear again. After handing over
the Tamas, Ebisu sets them in action and you can now cross over to the
other side of the bridge. Make your way back to the broken bridge and a
flying ship will carry Goemon and his friends across to Akasaka.
*Akasaka
- Enter and you'll have the opportunity to save. This dungeon is like a
giant kitchen. For the first part, it's probably best to use Sasuke for
his speed and size. Time your crossing so that you don't get pounded
and jump a lot when you do cross so that you don't get stuck down. If
you get stuck in between containers, equip with the balloons and jump
out. Continue on, bursting the inflated puddings and using them to
float up.
- Second area you have to jump onto the bread and run forward fast so that
you don't get chopped up. Make use of Sasuke's balloons here.
- Third area you have to be careful when you propel yourself up as there
are enemies standing on every platform. For this part, I propelled Yae up
to clear the platforms using her bazooka first then I sent Sasuke up with
his balloons.
- BOSS: Fake Peruri
When he's in close range, he'll attack with canonballs and bullets.
After you hit him for a while, he'll fly away and launch either an
array of canonballs or bullets. If he launches canonballs, all you have
to do is stand in the centre to avoid them. For bullets, there will be
an opening for you to stand. To damage him, jump up and hit him when
he's in close range. I used Goemon for this.
- The boss seemed too easy to Goemon and his friends. Turns out it was a
fake Peruri and it was one of his robots. Now he really wants all 3
Weapons of the Heavens so that he can ressurect Tengu, a great weapon to
help him rule Japan.
- BOSS: Taisanba DS
Now you get to use Goemon Impact again. This time in the sunset. This
fight's fairly hard as Taisanba keeps jumping from place to place. To
deal the greatest damage to him, hit the lower right button when he's
swimming close to you to pick him up. Then use the bottom middle button
to er, headbutt him... Or just punch him. When he throws things at you,
you can either guard against them using the lower left button or use
the top middle button to shoot them if they are mini cannonballs. Now
and then, he will try to suck you into a whirlpool. Just keep hitting
punch to hit him and stop it.
And so, Peruri goes off to the capital to get the final Weapons of the
Heavens, the Magatama and complete his giant battle machine. Goemon and his
friends make haste.

| Chapter 7 |
| |
| The Great Tengu |
| Admiral Peruri |
| |
+------------------+
- Make your way to the snow filled town of Sakanoshita. On you way there,
you'll come across a slope with a giant snowball rolling down. To climb
up, make use of Ebisu's Bali Drill technique. Go up a few steps then
drill yourself into the ground to avoid the snowball. Jump back up and
repeat. In the next area, ignore the guards and go on.
*Sakanoshita
- If you speak to the female customer in the shop, you'll learn that the
local wealthy merchant, Daifuku has locked the doors of his mansion
using locks that are in the shape of his daughters face. Ask around and
you'll learn that the merchant's three "beautiful" daughters are famous
in town and have gone missing for a while.
- Exit the town through the southern area's SE exit.
* Mount Tsuchi
- Fight your way through the enemies until you find the third daughter in
the SW corner. Poke her with your stylus and remember her face. Now
return to town.
*Sakanoshita
- In the southern area of town, go west to find a pair of double doors. Go
inside and you'll find a wall with a big face. Use your stylus to
rearrange it so that it looks like the third daughter you found in the
snow. The pieces will lock itself into place once they're in a certain
position. After you have all pieces in the correct positions, the face
will be animated and a pair of doors will open.
*Minakuchi
- Enter the mansion and go into the room to the right of the old
man. Do the same again and rearrange the face to look like the third
daughter.
- Again, enter the new area and jump up the wall to get past the blockade
of snow women. Continue through the areas until you find a piece of pink
clothing in a lake to the SE. Touch it with your stylus to find the
second daughter. Remember her face.
- Return to the room next to the old man and rearrange it to look like the
second daughter. Now go through the new path, cross the bridge and arrive
at the Capital.
*Capital
- The Capital is filled with shops including a clothes shop. Take the first
exit north and you'll find the two delivery men that you came across
earlier. The two who were carrying a giant Tengu head. It turns out
they're working for the foreigner Peruri and the head's going to be part
of his ultimate weapon.
- Before you enter, you can go into the magistrate's building to the right
where you'll meet the Kinemon again. It turns out he's on the case about
the Tengus too. Goemon and his friends report what they've found out
about Peruri so far and then he tells them to bring him in for
judgement.
- Go in through the mechanical doors to find Peruri put the finishing touch
to his giant battle machine and gloat over it. He's also got a hold of
all 3 Weapons of the Heavens now, the last one being the oldest daughter
of Daifuku.
- Go to the left area to find the daughter unconcious. Poke her to wake her
up and you'll learn the Magatama's hidden in her face. She guesses
Peruri's now headed for the fortress of Ootsu, north of her father's
mansion which means more face arranging fun. Remember her face and return
to the mansion. Rearrange the face and enter the fortress.
*Ootsu
- For the first area, you use your stylus to open fans. They close fairly
quick so be sure to jump fast. You may also use your stylus to hold down
lids so that the fishes can shoot any more canonballs.
- In the second area you have to poke the spikey Darumans so that when you
fling yourself up, you don't get hit. Watchout for spinning tops as you
get towards the top.
- Third area you can shake containers that are used in Buddhist temples
to foretell your fortune. A wooden stick will appear and different things
happen depending on what appears on the stick. For example, if "great
misfortune" appears, a gold plate will fall on you so be ready to dodge
it! When that happens, don't jump on the stick as it'll retract very
fast. You DON'T have to shake them as Sasuke can jump across the gaps
very easily but you'll have to at the end where the stick propels you
upwards.
- Fourth area you meet the containers again but this time, nothing happens
when a stick pops out. What you have to do here is stand Sasuke with his
balloons again on top of the yellow container. Shake the container and
wait until a gold stick appears and propels you into the air. DO NOT move
forward if it's a brown stick as you won't be able to make it. Even when
you get a gold stick, first test how fast you can float forward. If you
can only float forward slowly then, it's not good enough. Wait for a
better gold stick.
- BOSS: Peruri
His attacks will be similar to the fake Peruri. At long range, he'll
attack with a rain of canonballs. Again, you can avoid them easily by
standing in the middle. Close range, he will shoot bullets at you
that'll burst into flames, a few consecutive canonballs and later fire
wheels that skid across the ground. Once his health bar is low enough,
he'll start hovering in the center shooting fire wheels only; one that
skids across the ground and one that bounces.
- After defeating Peruri, Goemon gets the Magatama and brings him to
Kinemon.
*Magistrate's Office
- Peruri tries to argue that he wasn't doing anything wrong and that a
Japanese person named Sakura promised him that Japan would open its doors
to foreign trade if he gathered the Weeapons of the Heavens. But Kinemon
decides to punish him for what he has done anything, using the weak and
trying to cause chaos. Announcing that Goemon and Ebisumaru's name is
cleared, Goemon hands over the Magatama over to Kinemon to return to
the Daifuku's daughter. Just as Kinemon was going to close the case,
Peruri recognises the Sakura blossoms flowing in the air and claims the
magistrate Kinemon is the Sakura he's working for. Kinemon reveals his
intentions to merge the Weapons of the Heavens with the giant battle
machine so that he can rule over Japan and then disappears.
Fuming with rage, Goemon and his friends head to Edo after Kinemon.

| Final Chapter |
| |
| Decisive Battle! |
| The Great Edo Castle |
| |
+---------------------------+
- To return to Edo quickly, go to the southern area of the Capital and
speak to the man smoking in the SE. Select the first destination to the
right to travel back.
*Edo
- After learning from the Feudal Lord that Kiemon's taken over the castle,
Goemon and his friends leave to get it back. Head on up pass the knocked
out guards into the castle.
*Edo Castle
- First area is straight forward as all you have to do is run forward
killing off enemies. Little purple enemies will come lean out from the
walls here and there.
- Second area you pretty much do what you done earlier in Ootsu. Poke the
Darumans so that they retract their spikes then propel yourself up using
the stylus on the noses.
- Third area you have to first jump onto the arrow before firing yourself
using your stylus.
- Fourth area is again nothing new and is similar to just before you fought
the fake Peruri earlier.
- Fifth and sixth area you need to watchout for the pouncing red enemies.
They jump at you as soon as you get near them. When you're on the
swinging platforms, don't forget to unequip the balloons from Sasuke.
Otherwise, he'll fall off while the platform swings. Once you get to
the bridge with logs and flags, you'll have to move swiftly too because
the logs fall once you stand on them for too long. What I done was equip
Sasuke with bombs and used them to take out the enemies quick while I ran
forward across bridge.
- Seventh area, you play with bows again before you finally reach Kinemon.
He doesn't giveup even when he's given the chance and is keen on ruling
the country.
- BOSS: Kinemon
He starts off with a Sakura leaves attack. Be careful not to get hit.
Afterwards, his little helpers will launch some bouncy canonballs at
you. Hitting them will launch them towards Kinemon and cause damage.
After 1/4 of his health is down, the floor boards will become loose.
Standing on them for too long will make you fall underground. When that
happens, you have to kill the flying towel-like creatures to blow a hole
open in the floor before you can fling yourself back up. Once he has
about 1/4 health left, his helpers will throw red canonballs. You CAN'T
hit these as they'll explode into flames. If you need health, kill his
little helpers when they appear at the bottom of the screen. After you
defeat him, he'll activate his battle machine with the Weapons of the
Heavens and you'll have an opportunity to save.
- BOSS: Tenguri King
Another fun Goemon Impact fight. When Tenguri is on the ground, he can
block, punch and hit you with his wings. He can also summon flying
objects from the air to hit you. During this time, I would hit the Right
Punch button twice followed by a Left Punch button once. Afterwards,
he'll fly into the air to kick you. At this point, time your Left Punch
so that you counter his kick and knock him to the ground. He'll then try
to smack you with his nose so use Guard. Now keep on punching him. After
he gets to half of his health, he'll try to hover over your head so that
he can give you a good spin before slamming you into the ground. He'll
also shoot lots of multicoloured canonballs at you so try and avoid both
these attacks. During the whole fight, there will be other Tengu
followers running around near your controller. Use the D-Pad to collect
the items they're carrying to help you get some quick Specials into the
fight.
- After you win, Goemon and his friends will take the place as magistrate
to take judgement on Kinemon and Peruri. Kinemon will admit to making
Peruri gather the three Weapons of the Heavens and go onto say how he was
born in a poor family. Being a position where can't improve things in
the country, he wanted to become the ruling Shogun of the whole country
so that he could improve things. Still without regrets, Kinemon vows to
take over the country next time before he gets escorted into jail.
- As for Peruri, he came to Japan as a diplomat so that his country could
conduct trade. But as he arrived with his black ships, everyone ran off
as soon as they saw them. It was then that Kinemon appeared, posing as
someone named Sakura, promising to help open up the country for trade if
Peruri helps him. Peruri pleads that he too was just a victim but as he
used Mr. Goemon, he too must receive punishment but Goemon promises to
speak with the Feudal Lord to open up the country for trade. After that,
Peruri gets taken away.
- Next up, the Mr. Goemon Trio are forgiven for stealing the temple mirror
and are told to work hard to rebuild their poor village. And so the case
of the Tengus end.
Thanks to Goemon, Sasuke, Yae and Ebisumaru, Kinemon's plans were destroyed
and peace returns once again to Edo. It's also time to say goodbye to our
story teller, Utamaru Katsura!
You've now beat the game and have the chance to save (Yes/No). After saving
the game, you will have the extra options of playing the boss fights or
Goemon Impact battles again consecutively. This is the third option down
from the main menu. You will also have a sound test under Options.

8.0 Side Quests
===============
8.1 Money Pouches
-----------------
At the start of the game, your money pouch can only hold up to 200 Ryos
but, in chapter 3, Dokutaro will give you a new money pouch and upgrade the
capacity to 300 Ryos. Other money pouch sizes are also available by helping
Dokutaro on his journey to the Capital and doing the following in order:
- 500 Ryos, Yellow Pouch
Meet Dokutaro on the second floor of the Ejiri inn. Notice the stairs
aren't blocked like the other inns.
- 700 Ryos, Blue Pouch
Get it in Fukuroi. To get there, travel to Mitsuke and exit via the left.
Use Ebisu's Bali Drill to go up the path with the rolling drum into the
next area to find an old house. Inside you'll find Dokutaro again being
offered a generous amount of food by the old lady. But Yae senses a demonic
aura from her. So go to the old temple you visited and talk to the Buddhist
there. He'll give you a charm to scare off the demon. Return to the house
where Dokutaro is, equip the charm then use it. The old lady sees it and
reverts to her demonic Yamanba form. She was going to fatten Dokutaro
up and eat him. After she leaves, Dokutaro snaps out of the demon's control
and thanks Goemon and his friends.
- 999 Ryos, Red Pouch
Meet Dokutaro outside the Capital on the Sanjou bridge. He'll thank Goemon
and his friends once again for saving him from the Yamanba. Otherwise he
wouldn't have made it.
8.2 Character Specials
----------------------
To learn each character's special move, you must visit the followng places
and speak with the man in the house using the corresponding character. i.e.
To learn Goemon's special, speak to the man in Kanakawa with Goemon. To
learn Ebisu's special, speak to the man using Ebisu etc.
GOEMON:
