INTRODUCTION
------------
>From the manual: "Become the king of the ring with all of your favorite WCW and
nWo wrestling superstars. Bring home the belt as you brawl your way to the top
of WCW, nWo, and the world! Only the strongest, most agile wrestlers will
survive. You're in control with all of the back-breaking, bone-jarring moves
you've cheered on TV."
Q: So what IS this game, anyway?
A: WCW vs. nWo: World Tour is a wrestling game. The object is to either pin
your opponent for a count of three or make him submit while in a hold.
Q: What's WCW?
A: WCW, or World Championship Wrestling, is a wrestling organization based in
Atlanta, Georgia, that is owned and run by Time Warner. The current head of WCW
is Eric Bischoff (whom is in the nWo roster of wrestlers for the game). WCW
has been around since 1991 and has ties back to the old National Wrestling
Alliance, with nearly one hundred wrestlers on its current roster from all over
the world.
Q: What's the nWo?
A: The nWo, or New World Order, is a renegade organization formed in 1996 by
Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan. Their goal is no less than a hostile
takeover of WCW. Over the past two years, the nWo has recruited numerous
members, including current WCW head Eric Bischoff, whom used his power to the
nWo's advantage. The war between the nWo and WCW continues to this day.
Q: Whom are these other federations and wrestlers? They seem familiar..
A: Good observation. The makers of WCW vs. nWo: World Tour decided to add some
wrestlers from around the world, mostly Japan, in the game, which is based on
a Japanese game called Virtual Pro Wrestling 64. The problem: copyrights. If
they used an actual wrestler, they'd have to pay to use the name. However, the
game companies came up with a sneaky solution: make the wrestlers, but use a
fictitious name. It lets you have the wrestlers in the game but without having
to pay for them. You just have to know who you're looking for. :) Dead Or
Alive is similar to garbage federatios such as FMW, and Independent Union is
more or less Michinoku Pro.
Q: What secret characters are there?
A: So far, six secret characters have been discovered, and are accessable by
winning the League Challenges: Diamond Dallas Page, "Macho Man" Randy Savage,
Glacier, Wrath, Joe Bruiser, and Black Widow (Manami Toyota).
Q: OK, what options are there?
A: There are five different modes in WCW vs. nWo: World Tour.
WCW vs. nWo
-----------
You assemble a team of up to five wrestlers from WCW and the nWo, and battle
one-on-one to decide which organization comes out on top. The first wrestler
from each team will wrestle, with the winner facing the next opponent on the
opposing team. This will continue until all the wrestlers on one team are
eliminated. Then, presumably, the winner gets Nitro. :)
Exhibition Match
----------------
It's basically a normal match, pinfall, submission, countout, everything you've
come to expect in wrestling. There's four options:
- A singles match, one on one
- A tag team match, where you team with another wrestler against two opponents,
either in a straight tag team match--where it's one-on-one and you have to tag
your partner in--or all four wrestlers in at once
- A handicap match, where a tag team battles against a lone opponent
- A battle royal, where four wrestlers battle it out with one coming out on top.
League Challenge
----------------
This is the meat of the game. There are four separate federations, each with
championships in the heavyweight and tag team divisions. In addition, WCW and
DOA also have a cruiserweight championship. After beating all of the wrestlers
in the event, you square off against the league champion. If you beat the
league champion, you will be able to use them in other matches (be sure to
save in Options, though).
League
------
You create and compete in up to a 16-wrestler (or 8-team) round robin
tournament. Each wrestler faces every other wrestler, with 3 points for a win,
1 point for a draw and no points for a loss. The wrestler with the most points
at the end wins the tournament. If there is a tie, there will be a small
tournament bracket to decide who wins.
Tournament
----------
You create and compete in up to a 16-wrestler (or 8-team) single-elimination tournament. If an odd number of participants are chosen, the last one listed
will receive a bye in the first round.

-----------
* Push the control pad in the direction you want your wrestler to move.
* To run, press C-down.
When standing
-------------
* To grapple, push A.
* Use the B button to do a kick/punch. The length of time you hold it down,
whether you're pushing Up on the control pad or not and the distance from your
opponent depends on which move you get.
* To climb to the top rope, press C-down and the control pad in the direction of
the corner.
* To avoid a grapple, press L.
* To block an opponent's attack, press R.
* To change which wrestler you're focusing on in a match against more than one
opponent, press C-right.
* To taunt your opponent, press the analog stick.
* To tag out to your partner, go over to him and press C-up.
When grappling
--------------
* You have different moves in the grapple depending on these factors:
- How long you push the A button when grappling. You either have a weak
grapple (tap the button) or a strong grapple (hold the button for about a
second or so)
- Either the A or B button
- What direction you push on the control pad, either up, down, or none at all.
If you grapple from behind, the direction doesn't matter.
* To Irish whip your opponent, press C-down and a direction.
* To release the grapple or a submission hold, press the R button.
* To put your opponent on your shoulders, do a strong grapple from behind and
press R.
When running
------------
* To do a running attack, press B. You have two different running moves
depending on whether you push the control pad in the direction you're running
or not.
* To do a dive to the floor, hold down A as you run into the ropes.
* To do a different dive to the floor, hold down A as you run toward the
turnbuckle.
* To do a somersault roll, press L.
When opponent is running
------------------------
* As your opponent runs toward you, press A to do a move such as a back
bodydrop. The length of time you hold the button down and whether you push Up
or not decides which move you do.
* To leapfrog or drop down, press L
When opponent is down
---------------------
* To pick your opponent up, press the R button.
* To flip your opponent over, press C-up.
* To drag your opponent by the leg or arm, press the L button.
* To pin your opponent, press C-down.
* To attack your opponent, press A to do a holding move and B for a straight
attack.
When you're on the apron
------------------------
* To grapple, press A. From there, you can do one of three things:
- To suplex your opponent out of the ring, press B.
- To try for a sunset flip, press A.
- To ram your opponent's head into the turnbuckle, press C-down.
* To attack a wrestler inside the ring or next to you on the apron, press B.
* To do a slingshot move into the ring, press A and the control pad in the
direction of the ring.
* To do either an elbowdrop to the floor or a springboard move to the floor,
press A and the control pad in the direction opposite of the ring.
* To climb back into the ring, press C-up and the control pad in the direction
of the ring.
* To climb down to the arena floor, press C-up and the control pad in the
direction of the floor.
* To climb to the top turnbuckle, move next to the turnbuckles and press C-down.
When opponent is on the apron
-----------------------------
* To grapple, press A. From there, you can do one of two things:
- To suplex your opponent out of the ring, press B.
- To ram your opponent's head into the turnbuckle, press C-down.
When opponent is on floor
-------------------------
* To do a slingshot move to the floor, press A and the control pad in the
direction of the floor.
When you are on the floor
-------------------------
* To get back on the apron, press C-up and the control pad in the direction of
the ring.
* To trip your opponent or drag him to the floor, press A and the control pad in
the direction of the ring.
When both you and your opponent are on the floor
------------------------------------------------
* To grab a weapon from the crowd, press C-up. You'll get:
- A black baseball bat
- A barbed-wire baseball bat
- A splintered piece of table
- A steel chair
- Nothing at all
To swing the weapon, press B. To drop it, hit A or C-up.
When opponent is in corner
--------------------------
* Press A to grapple, then again to do a move. What move you do depends on the
length of time the grapple button is held down and what direction is pushed.
When you're on the top rope
---------------------------
* Let go of C-down to execute a move off the top rope.
* Hold C-down down to wait on the top rope.
* Press the analog stick to taunt.
Special Moves
-------------
* Each wrestler has two special moves in the grapple, executable whenever your
Spirit Meter is flashing "SPECIAL!" You can increase your Spirit Meter by
executing moves, blocking/reversing your opponent's moves, or taunting. To do
the special moves, execute a strong (two-second) grapple from the front or
back and press the analog stick.
* To execute your *opponent's* finisher, do a strong grapple, but instead of
pressing the analog stick, press A & B together.
Double-Team Moves
-----------------
* Press A when both wrestlers are next to your opponent. Depending on your
position and your partner's position, different moves will occur:
- One in front, one in back: double powerbomb
- Both in front: double suplex
- Both behind: double bulldog
- Both at side/feet, opponent down: wishbone

SECRET STUFF
------------
Secret Characters
-----------------
There are six secret characters (so far :) in WCW vs. nWo: World Tour. The
first four are accessable after you defeat a federation's League Challenge.
World Championship Wrestling: Diamond Dallas Page
New World Order: "Macho Man" Randy Savage
Dead Or Alive: Wrath
Independent Union: Glacier
After you beat each of the four federations, a new oe will open up, called
Whole World Wrestling, with two divisions, each having its own boss. To get to
the cruiserweight level, you have to win the DOA and WCW cruiserweight titles,
as well as beat the IU and nWo heavyweight tourneys. To get to the heavyweight
level, you have to win the DOA and WCW heavyweight titles instead. After about
15 wrestlers, you reach the bosses, which you can use once you beat them:
WWW heavyweight: Joe Bruiser
WWW cruiserweight: Black Widow (Manami Toyota)
Remove Masks And Facepaint
--------------------------
Use a wrestler that has an eye gouge, such as Ric Flair, and do the gouge about
five or six times. The front of the mask or the paint should be removed,
revealing the face underneath.
Countout Cheat
--------------
Pull your opponent outside of the ring, then run around to the left or right
side. If you get to the other side while your opponent is on the opposite side,
he will mirror your moves up and down. Get on the apron right before the
countout to win. This is a quick way to get through a League Challenge;
however, if you're counted out, you'll have to start over.
