Secret Weapons Over Normandy - Strategy Guide (Page 02)

Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Secret Weapons Over Normandy - Strategy Guide (Page 02).

Mission 4: Rescue
-----------------
Date: February 5, 1941.
Suggested plane: Spitfire
Suggested secondary armament: Medium bomb
Primary Objectives: 1) Prevent the Kill or Capture of 4 or more pilots
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: None.
walkthrough:
Short, but can be difficult if you're not fast. Once the mission starts,
take out the patrol boat directly in front of you. You then have a
choice to make. You can either take out the destroyer with a bombing
run, or you can take out the groups of HE111s and BF-109s coming in to
kill your pilots. I suggest going after the planes first. The destroyer
will most likely pick up one or two of your men, but it's very easy for
the planes to destroy your rescue ship and kill a few of the downed
pilots. Start with the BF-109s. Then quickly bank right, and down the
HE111s attempting to torpedo the rescue ship. Finally take out the
destroyer with two quick bombs. Remember, speed is key here, because if
four or more pilots are killed or picked up by the destroyer, the mission
     is a failure.

Mission 5: Tigers
-----------------
Date: December 26, 1941
Suggested plane: P-38 Lightning
Suggested Secondary Armament: 37mm cannon
Primary Objectives: 1) Two US destroyers survive.
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Outscore the Tigers.
Walkthrough:
A fairly easy mission as long as you don't let yourself get caught in the
crossfire from Zeros. When the mission starts off, engage anything
within range. Don't expect to take much damage, the mission starts off
as pretty much shooting fish in a barrel. Once the first group of Zekes
have been downed, new groups of planes will begin appearing, among which
are several Kate torpedo bombers. Move in to engage the Kates but make
sure to stay out of range of the Zeros, come in level with or below the
Kates if you can. If you get in the Zeros' range they will begin tailing
you and will tear you apart while you try to down the bombers.
Once you've finished off the bombers, begin engaging the fighters.
After a moment another group of planes will appear. Disengage anything
you are tailing and go after these; they are dive bombers attempting to
sink the destroyers. Finish these off, and then re-engage the remaining
planes. Don't be afraid to use cannon rounds to down anything near the
destroyers, you have more than enough. The bonus goal can be
accomplished by just beating the mission, the Tigers are even worse at
     kill competitions than the Eagles.

Mission 6: Devastating
----------------------
Date: December 28, 1941
Suggested Plane: Must use Devastator.
Suggested Secondary Armament: Must use torpedos.
Primary Objectives: 1) Sink all troop transports.
Secondary Objectives: 1) Sink all destroyers.
Bonus Objectives: 1) Sink all patrol boats.
Walkthrough:
As soon as the mission starts, accelerate to just above 150 mph, close to
within 1000 feet, and torpedo the destroyer ahead of you. Then
immediately bank right and release a torpedo at the troop transport.
Once the torpedo is away, focus your guns on the German patrol boat
immediately to sink it on the first pass. Proceed over the patrol boat
and launch a torpedo directly at the oncoming Japanese destroyer. Fly
over the destroyer and destroy the oncoming patrol boat in the same
manner as the first one. Continue flying straight ahead, and launch a
torpedo at the oncoming troop transport. Fly around the troop transport,
and use your last torpedo on the destroyer that was following it. Use
your guns to destroy the last patrol boat in that line of ships, then
head to the partisan airfield to rearm with more torpedos. After
rearming, fly back and destroy the destroyer leading the second line of
ships. Do not sink the troop transport following it! Fly around the
troop transport, and destroy the patrol boat behind it with your choice
of guns or torpedos. This comples the Bonus Objective. Sink the
destroyer directly behind the patrol boat to complete the Secondary
Objective. Now that this is done, circle around, and destroy the final
troop transport to complete the mission.

Mission 7: Betty Boom
---------------------
Date: May 21, 1942
Suggested Plane: Must use F4F-3 Wildcat
Suggested Secondary Armament: 37mm cannon
Primary Objectives: 1) Destroy the freighter
                     2) Protect the American destroyers
Secondary Objectives: None.
Bonus Objectives: None.
Walkthrough:
Take down the Zekes at the beginning, and wait for the next group of
planes to appear. Ignoring the fighters and concentrating on the
bombers is even more important here than usual, as the Betty's tend to
appear between 6000 and 7000 feet from the destroyers. Cycle through
your air targets constantly so you can catch the bombers as soon as they
appear. Once you have a lock on a group of bombers, issue the "Attack my
Target!" wingmen command so you can down the bombers faster and move on
to the next group of them. use your cannon rounds strictly for the
bombers; using them on the fighters is a complete waste, as the fighters
go down fast enough with machine guns and do negligible damage to the
destroyers. When using cannons on the bombers, be sure to use Slow Down
in order to eliminate wasted, stray rounds. After a few flights of
Betty's, you will be informed that all bombers have been downed. Destroy
the few remaining Zekes, and the mission is won.

Mission 9: Big Bang
-------------------
Date: January 27, 1943
Suggested Plane: Mosquito
Suggested Armament: 37mm cannon
Primary Objectives: 1) Outscore Lilia
Secondary Objectives:
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroy BF-110s before they take off.
Walkthrough:
You have to get the Bonus Objective out of the way right away if you want
to accomplish it. As soon as the mission starts, lock on to the BF-110s,
and head for them full throttle. After strafing them as they taxi, take
out the fuel trucks near their runway. Then proceed east and destroy the
convoy of mobile AA guns. Now head back northeast and destroy the truck
convoy that Lilia had been attacking. Proceed to destroy the truck
convoy heading through the air base, then head toward the partisan
airfield and destroy the groups of vehicles traveling down the hill. You
will be informed of a supply train moving through the area, however, this
is not an objective, so you do not need to search for it and destroy it.
At this point a small group of Ju88s will appear, down them and head back
to the air base. Destroy all the AA guns and any stray vehicles still
there, then proceed west to the Panzer column. After destroying the
Panzers with your cannons, continue west to the group of buildings and
take out all the AA guns there. From the group of buildings, head north
and take out the column of fuel trucks and recon cars. The supply train
mentioned earlier is just north of this convoy if you wish to destroy it
before time runs out. If you have followed this path and destroyed
targets fairly quickly, you should have 35-40 kills, easily enough to
     outscore Lilia.

Mission 10: Recovery
--------------------
Date: October 30, 1943
Suggested Plane: Mosquito
Suggested Armament: 57mm cannon
Primary Objectives: 1) Escort Pauline
Secondary Objectives:
Bonus Objectives: 1) Destroy four Kubelwagens
Walkthrough:
Ignore Jackson at the beginning, go ahead and engage the group of
FW-190s. After downing all FW-190s, start searching for Kubelwagens.
There is one northeast of the airbase, after you destroy that one, you
should be able to lock on to another in the southwest, about 18,000 feet
off. Go ahead and destroy it. After that, you should lock onto another
Kubelwagen due south of the the one you just blew up, about 7,000 feet
away. Destroy that one. There is another Kubelwagen about 5,500 feet
away from that one, on the same course. Destroy it to accomplish the
Bonus Objective. Now take down and FW-190s you have on your tail, but be
quick about it. In a moment you will be informed of bombers coming in to
bomb the airstrip; disengage any remaining FW-190s and haul ass for them,
the first group appears only 1000-2000 feet from the hangar Pauline is
in. Another group of HE111s will appear at the eastern side of the
airstrip; destroy them. After this group is down, a group of BF-110s
will appear, but ignore them for now and continue cycling through your
air targets. They will lock onto a group of Ju87s several thousand feet
off, to the east. Go and attack them. Avoid whatever that big floating
thing is, I haven't been able to identify it yet, but touching it is
automatic crash and mission over. After downing the Ju87s, head back to
the airfield and kill whatever remains of the BF-110s to win the mission.
