Lord Of The Rings, The: The Two Towers - Strategy Guide (Page 08)
Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Lord Of The Rings, The: The Two Towers - Strategy Guide (Page 08).
A tip for Cave Trolls (courtesy of HowYouDoin1002):
You can kill Cave Trolls by charging up your weapon, holding
down triangle (T) button until it glows. And as soon as you see it
glow, release the button right next to him and it will kill him
with one blow. Careful though, you will take hits if you are
slow. But don't worry, as soon as your character begins to stand
up, hold the triangle (T) button and it will glow sooner than if
you did it as soon as he stands. This is very effective when you
have more than one Cave Troll. If you attempt to use this when
there is more than one, try to get one seperate from the others
so you don't get hammered by one while trying to kill another.
AND NOW:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:
Saruman comes out (with buggy eyes) and cackles, “Your end is near!”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
AS ARAGORN
----------
Note: With Aragorn, it is easiest to run around the perimeter of the
arena, avoiding enemy attacks. That way, enemies will chase
you, but you can get to a safe distance to turn around and
attack them with Wrath of Numenor (press and hold T). This will
set any enemies you hit on fire. Then, just run around the
arena and wait for them to drop! (There is an exception to this
tip, however. Be on the lookout for the shielded orcs that jump
at you. They can reach you when you are running, so just be
sure to parry (S) their attacks.)
--------------------
Floor 1 - 5 Uruk-Hai
--------------------
Run a safe distance away, use a few arrows, or Wrath of Numenor (press
and hold T). Repeat.
-------------------------
Floor 2 - 2 Uruk-Hai
4 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------
When running from the Shielded Orcs, they can jump in and hit you. Be
sure to parry (S). Use fierce (T) attacks or Wrath of Numenor (press
and hold T). Do this to break their shields first, then repeat the
process to defeat them when they have no shield.
--------------------
Floor 3 - 4 Orcs
2 Uruk-Hai
--------------------
Again, run a safe distance, turn around and wait for the enemies to get
to you. Then use Wrath of Numenor (press and hold T).
-------------------------
Floor 4 - 3 Uruk-Hai
3 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------
Use fierce (T) attacks or Wrath of Numenor (press and hold T). Do
this to break their shields first, then repeat the process to defeat
them when they have no shield.
-------------------------
Floor 5 - 3 Shielded Orcs
3 Orcs
-------------------------
Same as Floor 4.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:
Saruman comes out and says: “You have elected the way of pain.” Then
he laughs and swings his scepter some more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------
Floor 6 - 7 Orc Archers
-----------------------
This is a good level to save some of your life (if you do it right, you
won’t even get hit).
Run around the arena. Arrows will come at you all at once. Just
parry (S) the arrows. Then, run to each orc archer and slash them
quickly with speed attacks.
-----------------------
Floor 7 - 4 orc archers
2 Uruk-Hai
2 orcs
-----------------------
I recommend running around the arena and focussing on defeating the
archers first because they can get annoying. Then, just use Wrath of
Numenor (press and hold T) for the other enemies.
-------------------------
Floor 8 - 4 shielded orcs
4 archers
-------------------------
Same strategy as Floor 7, only remember, you’re dealing with shielded
orcs.
-------------------------
Floor 9 - 4 orc archers
3 shielded orcs
2 orcs
-------------------------
Again, focus on the archers first.
-----------------------------
Floor 10 - 6 Uruk-Hai
2 Uruk-Hai archers
-----------------------------
This level can be tough if you’re not ready for it. The Uruk-Hai will
come for you. Run to the perimeter of the arena. If the Uruk-Hai
surround you, use combo attacks to knock them down. Don’t worry about
stabbing them on the ground (unless you have time), just run along the
edge. Take out the Uruk-Hai archers first, with fierce (T) attacks.
Then, with both of the archers gone, run to a safe distance and use
(guess what?) Wrath of Numenor to hit the remaining Uruk-Hai. Repeat
this process until they all go down.
Note: Because the Uruk-Hai archers use flaming arrows, some portions
of the ground can catch fire. Be careful.
------------------------
Floor 11 - 8 orc archers
------------------------
Another good floor to save life. Again, run around the arena, tagging
archers with speed (X) attacks. Parry their arrows - there will be a
lot of them.
Note: On floor 11, the walls of the tower change color to blue (I
know, it doesn’t help with strategy, but it’s just a cool little
extra tidbit.)
------------------------
Floor 12 - 2 orc archers
4 orcs
2 Uruk-Hai
------------------------
Archers first. Wrath of Numenor.
------------------------
Floor 13 - 4 Uruk-Hai
4 orc archers
------------------------
(I see a pattern.) Again, archers first. Wrath of Numenor from a safe
distance on remaining Uruk-Hai.
--------------------------
Floor 14 - 2 orc archers
4 Uruk-Hai
2 shielded orcs
--------------------------
See Floor 13.
------------------------
Floor 15 - 1 Cave Troll
4 orc archers
------------------------
Now things are getting interesting. You’ve made it this far, but will
Saruman’s minions get you?
Run around the perimeter of the arena and take out the archers with
speed (X) attacks first. Dodge the club of the Cave Troll. Run in and
hit him with ONE fierce (T) attack. Get away. Repeat. This
particular Cave Troll doesn’t throw logs, so it’s all good.
Note: You can line up so the Cave Troll continuously walks into the
podium in the center of the arena. That way, he’ll be stuck and
won’t be able to get to you. So, when he takes a swing, you can
run up and get a free hit!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:
Saruman laughs. “Your end is near . . .” he warns.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------
Floor 16 - 2 Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai
2 orc archers
------------------------------------
The sword-wielders run FAST. Wait for them to get off balance and then
attack. Then, attack them from behind. Stab them on the ground, if
you have to. (Take ANY opportunity to finish them off if they fall to
the ground.)
Now, work on the archers.
------------------------------------
Floor 17 - 2 Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai
2 Uruk-Hai
3 orc archers
------------------------------------
Again, the sword-wielders take priority, here. Finish them off, and
the rest of the enemies should be easy.
------------------------------------
Floor 18 - 1 Cave Troll
1 Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai
3 orc archers
------------------------------------
Save the Cave Troll for last. He hurls logs at you, so be careful.
Make sure you don’t run in a straight line, as you will get pegged by
logs.
Take care of the sword-wielder first, and get the archers out of the
way. Now, it’s just you and the Cave Troll. You can run up and hit
him ONCE with a fierce (T) attack between log throws. But beware of
his club . . .
------------------------
Floor 19 - 2 Cave Trolls
2 orc archers
2 orcs
------------------------
Work on the archers first, then the orcs. Last, take on the Cave
Trolls, preferably one at a time. One of the Cave Trolls throws
logs. The other doesn’t.
Note: If you get the Cave Trolls together, they can hit each other.
Try and get them to accidentally hit each other. It will make
the floor easier.
Whenever, one of the Cave Trolls takes a swing his club, and the other
is far enough away, run up and slap the swinging cave troll with a
fierce (T) attack. It doesn’t matter which one takes a swing and
leaves himself vulnerable to attack. If you have an opening for an
attack, use it! Don’t try to take them at once, as you WILL get
flattened.
Another Method: Dispatch the dark coloured Cave Troll with arrows,
and run around the edge, away from the Troll. Then
come in and do ONE fierce attack and press L2 as you
finish it to jump back and out of the Troll's Range.
Continue. If there is more than one Troll, then they
may hit each other if they attack you and you move out
of the way. (Special Thanks to AzureXVIII for this
strategy.)
--------------------------
Floor 20 - 3 Cave Trolls
2 shielded orcs
2 orc archers
--------------------------
Whew! You made it this far, but don’t rest just yet!
Again, take out the archers first, if you can. Then, the shielded orcs
(either with fierce attacks or Wrath of Numenor). Remember to parry
the shielded orcs’ attacks.
Next, work on the Cave Trolls. See if you can get them to clump
together and accidentally hit each other before you even try to touch
them. Do this by running around the perimeter of the arena. If they
hit each other, it will save you time and energy. One Troll will go
down soon.
Now, with two of the Cave Trolls left, again, wait for one to swing,
and just run in, get a quick fierce attack in, and run away. The
Trolls might accidentally beat on each other too. But you’d have
absolutely no problem with them doing your work for you, would you?
When all enemies on Floor 20 are gone . . .
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:
Well, I won’t spoil it for you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
***You have completed SECRET MISSION: TOWER OF ORTHANC***
----------
AS LEGOLAS
----------
Note: With Legolas, it is easiest to run around the perimeter of the
arena, avoiding enemy attacks. That way, enemies will chase
you, but you can get to a safe distance to turn around and
attack them using arrows (preferably Mithril Arrows). This will
set your enemies on fire. Then, just run around the arena and
wait for them to drop! (There is an exception to this tip,
however. Be on the lookout for the shielded orcs that jump
at you. They can reach you when you are running, so just be
sure to parry (S) their attacks.)
--------------------
Floor 1 - 5 Uruk-Hai
--------------------
Run a safe distance away and use a few arrows. Repeat.
Note: On Uruk-Hai, you can use Bane of Saruman to instantly kill an
attacking Uruk-Hai. To do this, when an Uruk-Hai attacks, parry
the attack using the square (S) button, then quickly press the
X and R1 buttons together. Use these if you get in a tight
spot.
-------------------------
Floor 2 - 2 Uruk-Hai
4 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------
When running from the Shielded Orcs, they can jump in and hit you.
Be sure to parry (S). Use fierce (T) attacks or Gil-galad’s Rage
(press and hold T). Do this to break their shields first, then repeat
the process to defeat them when they have no shield.
Note: If you have Mithril Arrows, you can shoot them into the shields.
The shield will catch on fire. Just wait and the shield will
eventually break.
--------------------
Floor 3 - 4 Orcs
2 Uruk-Hai
--------------------
Again, run a safe distance, turn around and wait for the enemies to get
to you. Then use your arrows to take them out.
-------------------------
Floor 4 - 3 Uruk-Hai
3 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------
Again, use fierce (T) attacks or arrows to break the shields. If you
get knocked down, use Rising Attack (X while on ground). This will
break any shields if the orcs are close enough to you. Then, either
use arrows on the Uruk-Hai or shoot arrows at them.
-------------------------
Floor 5 - 3 Shielded Orcs
3 Orcs
-------------------------
Same as Floor 4.
Note: Using the same combination for Bane of Saruman (S + X & R1) will
execute Orc Bane, which instantly kills attacking orcs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:
Saruman comes out and says: “You have elected the way of pain.” Then
he laughs and swings his scepter some more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------
Floor 6 - 7 Orc Archers
-----------------------
This is a good level to save some of your life (if you do it right, you
won’t even get hit).
Run around the arena. Arrows will come at you all at once. Just
parry (S) the arrows. Then, run to each orc archer and slash them
quickly with fierce attacks.
Also, you could get to a good vantage point on the perimeter of the
arena and launch arrows to kill the archers quickly.
-----------------------
Floor 7 - 4 orc archers
2 Uruk-Hai
2 orcs
-----------------------
I recommend running around the arena and focussing on defeating the
archers first because they can get annoying. Then, just shoot arrows
at the other enemies.
-------------------------
Floor 8 - 4 shielded orcs
4 archers
-------------------------
Same strategy as Floor 7, only remember, you’re dealing with shielded
orcs.
-------------------------
Floor 9 - 4 orc archers
3 shielded orcs
2 orcs
-------------------------
Again, focus on the archers first.
-----------------------------
Floor 10 - 6 Uruk-Hai
2 Uruk-Hai archers
-----------------------------
This level can be tough if you’re not ready for it. The Uruk-Hai will
come for you. Run to the perimeter of the arena. If the Uruk-Hai
surround you, use Bane of Saruman (S + X & R1). Don’t worry about
taking them all out at once, unless you think you can. Take out the
Uruk-Hai archers first, with two fierce (T) attacks. Then, with both
of the archers gone, run to a safe distance and use (guess what?)
arrows to get rid of the rest of the enemies. Repeat this process
until they all go down.
Note: Because the Uruk-Hai archers use flaming arrows, some portions
of the ground can catch fire. Be careful.
------------------------
Floor 11 - 8 orc archers
------------------------
Another good floor to save life. Again, run around the arena, tagging
archers with fierce (T) attacks. Parry their arrows - there will be a
lot of them. If you want to, get to a safe point where you can see
most of the archers and then pick them each off with arrows.
Note: On floor 11, the walls of the tower change color to blue (I
know, it doesn’t help with strategy, but it’s just a cool little
extra tidbit.)
------------------------
Floor 12 - 2 orc archers
4 orcs
2 Uruk-Hai
------------------------
Archers first. Arrows. Or Bane of Saruman (S + X & R1) for Uruk-Hai.
------------------------
Floor 13 - 4 Uruk-Hai
4 orc archers
------------------------
(I see a pattern.) Again, archers first. Use arrows, if you want to,
to get rid of the archers quickly. Then, Bane of Saruman (S + X & R1)
on the Uruk-Hai. Or, run to a safe distance and use arrows on the
Uruk-Hai.
--------------------------
Floor 14 - 2 orc archers
4 Uruk-Hai

--------------------------
See Floor 13.
------------------------
Floor 15 - 1 Cave Troll

Now things are getting interesting. You’ve made it this far, but will
Saruman’s minions get you?
Run around the perimeter of the arena and take out the archers with
fierce (T) attacks or arrows first. Dodge the club of the Cave Troll.
Run in and hit him with ONE fierce (T) attack. (You CAN hit the troll
with two fierce attacks in a row, but it’s dangerous.) Get away.
Repeat. This particular Cave Troll doesn’t throw logs, so it’s all
good.
Note: You can line up so the Cave Troll continuously walks into the

sword-wielders, but they take two arrows to go down).
Now, work on the archers.
------------------------------------
Floor 17 - 2 Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai
2 Uruk-Hai
3 orc archers

AS GIMLI
--------
Note: With Gimli, even though he is a tank, it is effective to run
around the perimeter of the arena, avoiding enemy attacks. That
way, enemies will chase you, but you can get to a safe distance
to turn around and attack them with Wrath of Moria (press and
hold T). This will set any enemies you hit on fire. Then, just

Again, run a safe distance, turn around and wait for the enemies to
get to you. Then use Wrath of Moria (press and hold T).
-------------------------
Floor 4 - 3 Uruk-Hai
3 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------
Use fierce (T) attacks or Wrath of Moria (press and hold T). Do this
to break their shields first, then repeat the process to defeat them
