Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2 - Strategy Guide (Page 10)

Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2 - Strategy Guide (Page 10).

---

First Appearance: Guitar Freaks 8th Mix/drummania 7th Mix
DDR Debut: BRAND NEW
Artist Notes: Parallel Floaters is Tomosuke Funaki. See Mind Parasite.

=====================================
8CC. SP12 - Jack and Mark Get Busy! =
=====================================

Artist: Distant Soundz feat. MC Image
Genre: UK Garage*
BPM: 134

Difficulty:
    Sgl Dbl
LGT: 3   3
STD: 4   4
HVY: 6   7

Heavy Notes: There really isn't anything too notable about the song. The
 beginning has a short portion where it's a wee bit hard because there's a
 note that hits some odd sound that sounds like a scratch on something hollow.
 And for a moment, you'll be getting Waverer's "hit the note a couple of times
 on the same foot" thing, but not as complicated.

---

Lyrics: COMING SOON

---

First Appearance: beatmania 6th Mix
Artist Notes: Distant Soundz is a UK group based around Hip Hop and Garage.
Misc. Notes: This is technically a Konami Original, like TOTAL SCIENCE's
 Catch it!, commissioned by Konami for beatmania 6th Mix.

=======================
8DD. SP12 - JET WORLD =
=======================

Artist: Mutsuhiko Izumi
Genre: Rock'n Country*
BPM: 138

Difficulty:
    Sgl Dbl
LGT: 3   4
STD: 5   6
HVY: 8   8

Heavy Notes: The basic stuff of this song are long streams and a few
 crossovers. There are a few points that focus on the guitar, where you'll
 follow the strums with sixteenths.

9. CHALLENGE MODE
******************************************************************************

Just like the last game, this mode gives you specific (and sometimes unfair)
challenges, where you'll play a song or part of one and fulfil certain
requirements.

They don't mention it on the specific challenges, but it almost goes without
saying: you'll automatically fail a challenge if your Dance Gauge empties,
just like in normal play.

==============
9A. Practice =
==============

Challenge 1 -
Song: 19, November
Difficulty: Light
Bars: 50-68
Challenge: Get no BOOs as you play this song.

Challenge 2 -
Song: I'm In Heaven (Radio Version)
Difficulty: Light
Bars: 16-40
Challenge: Score a full combo on this section: all PERFECTs and GREATs.

Challenge 3 -
Song: Standing Still In Time
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 1-49
Options: Dance Gauge begins low.
Challenge: You must finish the song with the Dance Gauge full. This, of
 course, means not blowing it at the end.

Challenge 4 -
Song: Wherever You Are
Difficulty: Light
Bars: 1-55
Options: Some Poison Arrows
Challenge: Finish this song. Watch out for blackish "Poison Arrows". If you
 step these, they will knock your Dance Gauge down quite a bit.

Challenge 5 -
Song: After all (Svenson & Gielen Remix Edit)
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 30-61
Options: Song speed is halved.
Challenge: Score at least 80% PERFECTs. A lot of Challenges have a PERFECT
 threshold, so you should really work on your Perfect Attack skills before
 seriously attempting them.

Challenge 6 -
Song: LUV TO ME (UCCHIE'S EDITION)
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 1-64
Options: Sudden
Challenge: Full combo this song.

===========
9B. Light =
===========

Challenge 1 -
Song: FLASHDANCE (WHAT A FEELING)
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 1-54
Options: Some Poison Arrows, Dance Gauge begins low
Challenge: Finish this song. Again, watch for the blackish Poison Arrows.

Challenge 2 -
Song: Hit 'n' Slap
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 1-34
Options: Dance Gauge begins low, Dance Gauge will not refill
Challenge: Finish this song.

Challenge 3 -
Song: R10K
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 40-62
Options: Hidden, Reverse
Challenge: Finish this section with a full Dance Gauge.

Challenge 4 -
Song: RIDE ON THE LIGHT (HI GREAT MIX)
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 34-66
Challenge: Full combo this section and get 80% PERFECTs.

Challenge 5 -
Song: GYRUSS (FULL TILT)
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 1-64
Challenge: Get a combo no greater than 10. You can do this one of two ways:
 get a combo of 10, then purposely miss the next step, or try for as many
 GOODs as you can, which will automatically break the combo, but not reduce
 your Dance Gauge. Either way is potentially risky. Don't forget that a
 double step is worth two on the combo, so if you hit a double step when your
 combo's 9, it's over.

Challenge 6 -
Song: Sleepwalker
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-57
Options: The background music doesn't match the steps. May as well just mute
 the TV.
Challenge: Get one BOO, and all the rest of the song needs to be GREAT or
 better. Furthermore, you need to 80% PERFECTs.

==============
9C. Standard =
==============

Challenge 1 -
Song: Love Is Dreaminess
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-89
Challenge: Stepping on any double steps will automatically fail you. You
 must full combo the rest of the song, though.

Challenge 2 -
Song: fly through the night
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 17-48
Options: Dance Gauge begins low
Challenge: Do not go over 50% on the Dance Gauge at any point. End this
 section with less than 15% on the Dance Gauge.

Challenge 3 -
Song: 321STARS
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-65
Challenge: Get a combo no greater than 10.

Challenge 4 -
Song: MAXX UNLIMITED
Difficulty: Standard
Bars: 1-117
Challenge: Only step on double steps. This will get quite harrowing near the
 end, since it's almost chiefly double steps.

Challenge 5 -
Song: Skulk
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 20-36
Challenge: Step on any quarter note and you'll immediately fail.

Challenge 6 -
Song: In My Eyes (Midihead Remix)
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-70
Challenge: Get 90% PERFECTs. Tough with all the sixteenths.

===========
9D. Heavy =
===========

Challenge 1 -
Song: route 80s
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-54
Options: Many Poison Arrows, 1.5x arrow speed
Challenge: Finish this song. Stepping on a Poison Arrow immediately fails
 you.

Challenge 2 -
Song: MY SUMMER LOVE
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-38
Options: 5x arrow speed
Challenge: Do not step on any consecutive arrows in the song, as in, don't
 step on a Left, then another Left following it (you can if there are other
 arrows in between, or if one's a double step). You shouldn't run across
 too many consecutive instances in this song, and definitely not in the
 sixteenth section.

Challenge 3 -
Song: MAKE A JAM!
Difficulty: Light
Bars: 3-7
Options: Stealth, Dark
Challenge: Get all PERFECTs. There are only twelve steps, though. Up, Up,
 Down, Down, Up, Up, Down, Down, then Left-Right-Left-Right in eighths.

Challenge 4 -
Song: VJ Army
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-69
Options: Boost, Phantom, Reverse
Challenge: Full combo this song, and get 85% PERFECTs.

Challenge 5 -
Song: THE BIG VOYAGER (INFINITE PRAYER REINTERPRETATION)
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-49
Challenge: Finish this song. Stepping on any eighth note will fail you.

Challenge 6 -
Song: Macho Gang
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-49
Options: Hidden
Challenge: Finish this song. Stepping on any double steps will fail you.

===========
9E. Extra =
===========

Challenge 1 -
Song: G2
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-82
Challenge: Full combo this song and get 90% PERFECTs. Passing this challenge
 will unlock G2.

Challenge 2 -
Song: TOE JAM
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-67
Challenge: Get 100 PERFECTs, 100 GREATs, and 100 GOODs. I suggest going for
 the GOODs, first. You'll rack up GREATs while doing so.

Challenge 3 -
Song: LEADING CYBER
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 35-42
Options: Phantom, Dark
Challenge: Full combo this section and get 90% PERFECTs.

Challenge 4 -
Song: MAXX UNLIMITED
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 35-42
Challenge: Like Heavy 2, you cannot step any consecutive arrows of the same
 kind.

Challenge 5 -
Song: DEAD END
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 63-67
Challenge: Score 0 Points. This means you can't get anything better than a
 GOOD or else you're busted. Of course, you also have to survive.

Challenge 6 -
Song: ZERO-ONE
Difficulty: Heavy
Bars: 1-65
Options: Dance Gauge will not refill
Challenge: Finish this song. Stepping on any 16th note step will fail you.

******************************************************************************
10. OTHER MODES
******************************************************************************

Here are the other modes besides the standard Game Mode and Challenge Mode.

==================
10A. Battle Mode =
==================

This mode is similar to Game Mode, only grades will not be recorded. However,
you can have as many as four people playing, and can even play Versus
Doubles if you wish. Also, you can choose to have CPU players to play
against.

There are two types of play in Battle Mode:

Score Battle - Play as you normally would in Game Mode. The person with the
 highest score wins.

Point Battle - This mode is only for two players. Each player begins with
 sixteen points. Whenever a player registers a worse step than the other
 player (for instance, Player 1 hits a step at PERFECT! and Player 2 at
 GREAT) the lower stepping player loses a point. When one player loses all
 his points, the game's over. If both players make it to the end of the song,
 then the person with more points remaining is the winner.

=================
10B. Party Mode =
=================

This mode has several new smaller modes, kind of a catch-all for the new
stuff.

---

Attack Mode

This is a mode for two players, or one versus a CPU opponent. The object
of this game is to hinder your opponent through "attacks", which you
initiate by getting five of a particular arrow in a row. Each arrow has a
different effect associated with it:

Down Arrow (Attack): Your opponent's Step Zone is lowered on the screen a
 bit.
Up Arrow (Recovery): Your Step Zone is raised on the screen a bit.
Left Arrow (Virus): You will prevent your opponent's next Attack or Recovery.
Right Arrow (Firewall): You will prevent your opponent's next Virus.

Those are for playing on the left side. The right side flips the effects of
the left and right arrows (for some reason).

---

Bomb Mode

Your basic "Hot Potato" mode, available for up to four players, with any
number of CPU players. You play as normal, except one player has the bomb.
If that player reaches a combo of five while he has it, he'll pass the
bomb off to another player. If you're holding the bomb when it explodes,
you're out of the game. The last player left standing is the winner.

---

Quad Mode

Yep, the rumors are true. If you have enough room, a big enough TV, and
four pads, you can try to play Quad Mode. I'm sure it goes without saying,
but this mode is designed for one player only, although it may be fun to get
a kind of round going for four people. The difficulties for Quad Mode are
valued at the same as they are for Double Mode.

---

Sync Mode

This is a tough mode. There really isn't much to it, except for the fact
that everyone's trying for a full combo. It's a game for two to four players,
with any number of CPU (although having them does seem useless). Basically,
you pick a song and play. If anyone breaks the combo, it's game over.

===================
10C. Workout Mode =
===================

Start by selecting your weight, and then your difficulty and song. The game
will count the calories as you step.

At the end of your song, you'll receive a chart on your progress:

Odometer Current: Keeps track of the "miles" you've performed.
Odometer Overall: The "miles" in all your plays.
Pedometer: Total number of steps in the workout.
Workout Graph: Shows your progress over time.
Calories: Shows how many calories you burned in the last song.
Overall: Shows how many calories you've burned overall.

====================
10D. Training Mode =
====================

Select this to pick songs and tackle them on your own terms. You may select
the song, the mode (Single or Double), its difficulty, and any Edit Data you
wish.

In addition (unlike other modes of gameplay), you can set Handclap or
Metronome being on, which allows you to play with any combination of the
music, a metronome (which marks standard quarter note beats), and a handclap
(which claps whenever there's an arrow).

You can also set "Timing". With it set to "On", you'll receive notification
whether you're early, late, or just on the steps instead of the standard
grades.

Also, you can set the song's speed. Unlike the song option called Speed,
this actually changes how fast the song goes. It's good for taking fast
songs at speeds you can manage.

Finally, you can set what measure the song begins and ends using the "Play
Area" function below it will allow you to quickly change between the measures
you select and the whole song.

================
10E. Edit Mode =
================

Well, I'm not gonna go through all the possibilities that Edit Mode offers
here. Honestly, if you're serious about Editing, you'll probably know to
read the instructions on this one. Seriously, there's too much info about it
for me to justify making a section for it.

******************************************************************************
11. SECRETS
******************************************************************************

Credits Mini-Game

Not exactly a secret, but some people seem to have trouble figuring this out.
Go to the Options section, then access the Credits from there. As the
Credits roll, arrows will appear in the upper-left portion of the screen.
Once they "fade in" and assume a color, then you can step them at basically
any speed you wish, sort of like a "Simon Says" kind of gameplay. If you make
a mistake of any kind, and that includes stepping the wrong point, it will
automatically fade to the next set of steps. Completing steps properly will
make your score rise. Personally, I cheated and just used the ABXY buttons on
the X-BOX controller to get a decent score.

13B. E-mail Guidelines =
========================

If you wish to e-mail me, be sure to follow these guidelines...

- Make ABSOLUTELY sure I haven't already answered your question in the guide.
- Make sure it has something to do with DDR Ultramix 2. I don't want spam,
chain letters, offers for friendship. Don't bother me with info on other DDR
games, really. I keep my ear pretty close to the ground about such things, and
I'll probably know about it before you. Compliment me on the FAQ all you want,
though...
- Make sure you say "DDR Ultramix 2" at one point in your e-mail. I have more
than one DDR FAQ, and I can't always figure the question out without
specifying what game you're asking about.
- Asking how to beat a song will result in a deletion. There really are no
tips to offer for DDR'ing besides what I have in my section. It has to come
from your own skill and desire to pass.
- Spell correctly and use proper grammar, please. If I can't understand
your e-mail, it'll go to the junk pile...

13D. Version Updates =
======================

Version 0.9 - 1/2/2005 - All the songs and song pack songs except for G2 and
 i feel... (Junk Circuit Mix).

Version 1.0 - 1/28/2005 - Finished G2 and most of the remaining lyrics ('cept
 those I can't understand or translate). Song Pack 8 has been announced, but
 not yet released, and I'm still short the i feel... JC Mix stuff.

Version 1.1 - 3/30/2005 - Sorry I missed updating when Song Pack 8 came out,
 but between the complications MS was having when setting up Canadian song
 packs and the fact that I STILL haven't been able to play the new ones,
 I've become a bit lax. Anyhoo, here's basic info on SP8 and SP9.

Version 1.2 - 7/26/2005 - Well, still I'm behind on SP info, but at least all
 twelve are up there. Enjoy, for what it's worth, and if you wish to help me
 fill in the blanks, please go right ahead.

Version 1.3 - 9/4/2005 - A few more song pack notes up, but I need more,
 people! Also added codes that popped up on the official site.

=====================
13E. The Final Word =
=====================

KCEH did good on this one. There are still a few annoying qualities about
the Ultramixes in general that weren't addressed here, but the song list is
quite solid.

Take care and happy dancing!
