appreciate the tone of Keela's "charge" to her. She expected Keela
would look the other way someday as payment for this deed. Disguised
as a jewelry merchant from Glistening Shores, Phade entered the Land of
Desolation. She found Corath and approached the unsuspecting wizard...
he turned towards her and said that he knew she was there and that she
wished to kill him... He was no wizard to be trifled with... He attacked!

Phade always maintained a good relationship with the noble family
of Argos through its recently deceased king. She gave the king of
Argos information when he needed it and he did the same for her... They
had an... understanding. With his passing, Phade considered approaching
the new heir to the throne, his daughter, Princess Keela; however, the
right time had not come... Phade thought to take refuge in the Forgotten
Ruins for a while to consider her options. She'd only just sat to rest
when a huge gruff man, calling himself 21, came to her. He said that
he must slay her as proof he served Argos... She was a wanted killer!

Wearing a robe of the mystics of drowning chasm, Phade traveled in
disguise into the Land of Desolation. When she came upon Corath, he
turned to her and told her to remove her feeble attempt at deception...
He said he was no mere wizard of tricks. Exposed, Phade removed the
robe and cowl. Corath asked her to prove her skill.

Phade was content with her rather easy termination of the evil and
would-be all-powerful wizard Corath. Princess Keela said lord Magnus
was said to exist in Shipwreck Waters, and so Phade journeyed there.
Rather full of herself, Phade walked into view confidently and
confronted the ghostly lord! The fight began!

Phade had so quickly ended the great threat to Argos, Corath, and
ended the threat to her from the undead and avenged Keela's father by
striking down Magnus. She stopped in the Forgotten Ruins to consider
her recent experience. Her mind drifted to her childhood friend,
Eyara. As children, Eyara used to teach Phade things of magic. ...And
they practiced fighting with each other... As if summoned, Eyara
happened upon Phade. She told Phade that the hulking man known as 21,
now in the Prisons of Akrowla, had taken her relic, Forestsong. Phade
and Eyara tested their combat skills.

Deciding running from Argos would not work, Phade went straight to
its capital. Entering Shorestone Castle, she had an audience with
Princess Keela who proclaimed Phade a wanton killer and sentenced her
to death. Phade challenged there was no trial, no attempt to
understand the situation... Hearing no more words, Keela herself drew her
sword and raised her shield!

Phade refused Corath's wish to slay Keela, princess and heirless
to Argos. She'd only left Corath's courtyard when Argosian Guards
surrounded her. There were too many to fight. They bound her and took
her to the Prisons of Akrowla. As they brought her into the jail, a
fierce thunderous clap of thunder rumbled... not from above... but from the
pits of jail. The Earth shook and blood rained down from the sky...
Terrorized the guards fled... They left Phade alone, and she ran deep
into the jail where she found keys to unlock her bonds... Soon there was
no one left, save for a brute in cell number 21.

Phade's greed for stealth spurred her imagination; she envisioned
slitting the throat of a victim and walking way unseen wearing the
invisibility cloak Corath promised her. She could not pass on this
offer, and so journeyed to Shorestone Castle where she would kill
Princess Keela. She slipped inside unseen, using the servant's
entrance... She dispatched the cook who noticed her as she made her way
within the castle. Into the wine cellar his lifeless corpse went...
Phade smiled. She came upon Keela and descended upon her!

Angered by Mongo going in her home in the Spider's Lair, Phade
raced to slay the invader. She found her home in shambles, her lab
destroyed with its vials of potions and elixirs broken and contents
spilled everywhere. Enraged, she set upon the ape!

Phade told Eyara, her only friend, that she would retrieve
Forestsong for her, and set out for the Prisons of Akrowla. She
reached the ancient jail, built deep into the earth... So deep that it
was heated by pools of lava at its base. The ancient structure was
abandoned. The foliage all around was black as coal and broke as dried
brittle wood. There was no life, no birds, no animals, nothing... this
area was dead. Phade found the stream nearby was dry, its bed covered
in soot. She entered the prison, encountering a wild man who attacked
maniacally!

Phade checked to ensure Keela was dead. Guards rushed from all
sides and captured Phade. For them to know she was there suggested
they were told... She suspected this was all a setup by Corath. They
bound Phade and took her to the Prisons of Akrowla. As they brought
her into the jail, a fierce thunderous clap of thunder rumbled... not
from above... but from the pits of jail. The Earth shook and blood
rained down from the sky... Terrorized the guards fled... They left Phade
alone, and she ran deep into the jail where she found keys to unlock
her bonds... Soon there was no one left, save for a brute in cell number
21. Phade opened the door to the hulking man, but she attacked her!

6B. EASTERN WRAITH

Returning to her home in the Spider's Lair, Phade collected poison
and other supplies she'd lost when arrested by the would-be Argosian
Guards. She doubted they were really guards of Argos, or they'd been
bribed to betray their princess. The East and West have always warred
and for armed guard of the West to be in the Eastern Capital, something
was awry. Warning rocks fell from their perch into a barrel of water...
the splash meant someone triggered Phade's entry alarm... She hid in the
shadows and waited... The demon Jinn entered her chamber and said aloud
that she smelled Phade... Jinn emitted a fiery flame from her palm,
lighting the dark chamber. She saw Phade, no longer covered in
darkness! She hissed that there was no escaping and she attacked!

Phade felt proud that her latest batch of poison was so effective
in ending the life of the princess. She mused if perhaps a bit more
hemlock would have made it less painful, for she really did not want
her prey to suffer. She returned to the Land of Desolation to collect
her earned Cloak of Invisibility from Corath as he promised for Keela's
assassination. She had been betrayed... the foul demon Jinn greeted her
instead...

Phade returned Forestsong to Eyara as promised. Eyara thanked her
and told her that while she was gone she fought Dagan of the Clan
Dolok, but neither she nor Dagan could win. She feared Dagan would
return and maybe next time he would slay her. Phade grinned and said
that Dagan would not return anywhere... She would hunt him now! She
tracked Dagan to his home in the Lost Fortress of Skurlok. Dagan saw
Phade and screamed, "Another assassin!" He attacked!

Phade fled Akrowla and took retreat in the Lost Fortress, high in
the Arctic Mountains of Skurlok. There she sat and dwelled on the
death of Keela. Her poison ripped Keela's life from her tortuously.
Phade, lost in thought, saw the Princess's dramatic death over and over
in her mind. She heard a voice behind her say, "I am Dagan of the Clan
Dolok..." She rolled ahead in a somersault, rising to her feet and
twisting around with weapon drawn. It was the ghost of Dagan!

Phade had never been hunted by demons before... Guards, bounty
hunters, and other foul beasts she'd escaped in the past, but not
demons... She turned to her only friend, if she could be called that, in
the world... to Eyara. Phade grew up in the Argosian Orphanage with
Eyara, from 8 years old until Phade ran away at 15 to join the thieves'
guild. In those 7 years, Phade found comfort in her friend. Phade
protected her fiercely, once breaking the arm of a threatening boy.
She regretted not killing him... for he taunted them later in life. She
found Eyara in the Venomous Swamp, her secluded retreat from the world
she despised. Eyara and Phade sparred to see how their skills compared
after so many years...

Guards rushed to capture Phade, part two of Corath's trap it
seemed... She ran from one door to the next as each opened to reveal
troops of men armed with halberds and good armor. Phade was trapped...
Shackled legs, cuffed arms, gloved hands, and muzzled, Phade was led by
a leather leash to a prison coach... and delivered to the Prisons of
Akrowla. As the guards unloaded her, a fierce thunderous clap of
thunder rumbled... not from above... but from the pits of jail. The Earth
shook and blood rained down from the sky... Terrorized the guards fled...
They left Phade alone, and she ran deep into the jail where she found
keys to unlock her bonds... Soon there was no one left, save for a brute
in cell number 21. Phade opened his door to query the hulking man, but
he struck at her!

Phade, disturbed by anything she cannot kill, journeyed to Eyara
to tell her what happened. Eyara suggested she go and find jinn in the
Lower Darklands, for if a demon was afoot it would be there. She found
Jinn in the volcanic region of Barbaria. Jinn hissed that her pupil
Phade learned well how to kill and torture without remorse... She said
Phade would make an excellent demon, were she not damned to torment
instead. She reminded Phade that it was she who played with fire that
burned her parents alive, not a faulty fireplace as she would tell the
world... Phade's lip quivered; she bit down on it and screamed as she
charged the demon!

Her conscience weighing heavily on her, Phade traveled to her old
friend Eyara. Eyara was, in fact, Phade's only friend... ever. They
were both outcasts had both lost their parents to burning home, and
they stood up for each other as children. She went to find Eyara in
her home within the Venomous Swamp. Phade called to Eyara when she saw
her friend. Eyara's eyes were disapproving and judgmental. She came
to fight Phade!

Phade moved quietly in the shadows of the Lower Darklands as she
circled Zaugg's apprentice, Corath. He had summoned the Narakan Hells
to send their spawn after her, and now he would suffer a horrible
death. She studied him as she lurked in the darkness. A light purple
aura surrounded his skin. It was a brighter shade than the purple haze
that permeated the air around a pillar with electricity arcing across
its surface that stood defiantly near Corath. She felt it was time.
Phade jumped into action against Corath.

8C. MISSED FOES

The heart of darkness typical to Phade was not without its weak
points. She retreated to the Lost Fortress of Skurlok, far away in the
Arctic Mountains. She recalled being a little girl, just turned 8
years old. Her parents were kind people of modest means, living in the
old city of Rezz. There was an argument she remembered, for she was
never given the chance to say she was sorry... She had stolen a slice of
pie which she denied and her mother scolded her. Phade was only 8, she
remembered angrily. That night their home burned to the ground; they
said the fireplace was faulty. Her mother and father died in the
flames, trapped within their bedroom chambers. Phade narrowly escaped
herself, coughing as she did. Phade cried... Her sob was broken by a
demon attacking her!

even her cold heart could accept. She leaned back and closed her eyes.
She heard a voice, "Phade...Phade...fade away..." Phade opened her eyes and
found herself in the Prisons of Akrowla. A pillar arcing with
electricity next to herself!? This nemesis Phade had a light purple
aura around her... and the air everywhere was filled with a purple haze.
The nemesis attacked!

Phade sighed heavily as she walked south to find, she hoped, rest
in the Lower Darklands. She observed a faint purple haze in the air,
and as she drew closer to the core of the haze she saw none other than
Corath! As if by destiny, she'd wandered into the foul wizard that set
her on this course of despair that imbalanced Barbaria. Phade decided
to restore balance and kill Corath too! ...As she moved in for the
attack she saw a light purple aura surrounding him. Near him was a
pillar with electricity arcing all about its surface... Phade got close
and attacked from the shadows!

killer! Phade decided this Corath would die a most heinous death for
his role in this play called life... She found him in the Lower
Darklands next to a pillar that was surrounded by electrical arcs and a
purple haze. Corath glowed, covered in a light purple aura...

Phade had never seen such an awful way to die as what befell
Corath. Tapping into such corrupting magic, as he did, clearly cost
him his eternal soul. Like a cat, Phade wondered where this magical
portal might lead. She stepped cautiously through the gate, finding
herself on a stone bridge far above a tiny island somewhere in the Dead
Sea. Before her stood a giant stone golem, steam pouring from its
joints. It turned its head toward her and spoke... I am Zaugg, master
assassin Phade. You are the most deadly I have seen, almost unhindered
by emotional frailty. What emotions you have, you suppress... It has
been enjoyable to watch your exploits. But I ask how you dare confront
me? The gods fear me, and so should you... Do you know who I am? I am
Zaugg!!!

COMBO RUNE ([]): "NO PAIN." 21 will flex his muscles and will charge
with rage. He will also glow a bright orange. During this time, if 21
is attacked, he will lose energy but he will not be knocked off balance
and will be able to dish out a combo of his own at any time. This
attack is good for attackers who will not let up. So flail away with
those big arms! Press the R2 Button to release the attack.
THROW RUNE (U): "UNBLOCKABLE." 21 will clasp his hands together and
will be surrounded by a bright yellow aura. During this time, 21's
attacks will become unblockable so pound your attacker(s) into
oblivion. Press the R2 Button to release the attack.
OBJECT RUNE (X): 21 will raise his rock bound hand and smash it into
the ground and the result will be a circular earthquake that will knock
any nearby opponents off their feet. This attack is best utilized when
there are two or more attackers in striking distance for it will knock
them over for a brief period of time. Press the R2 Button to release
the attack.
COUNTER RUNE (/\): "MAXIMUM CHARGE." 21 will smash his fists together
and from the shoulders up will glow with a fiery yellow aura. During
this time, all of 21's magical attacks will be fully charged. Throw as
many meteors as you can at all those who oppose you during this short
amount of time. Press the R2 Button to release the attack.

the gong echoes throughout the prison, a warning to abandon the
Prisons of Akrowla. Wars came and passed, disasters befell Barbaria,
and plagues swept over the lands... and never had the ancient gong been
used. A cataclysm had happened, and the guards fled Akrowla with
abandon... they left their possessions and just left... Inmates were
freed to escape the deep prison confines, even those far below the
Earth near the volcanic lake that heated the aged prison. Soon only
the creaking sounds of the settling jail could be heard... Then it was
silent. The behemoth and naturally strong inmate in cell #21 was
alone, totally alone. He waited, as he always had... and waited... and
waited. Days passed, and then his cell door opened. A zombie stood in
the jail doorway. I am Stitch, he said... and you 21, are dead!

He'd been locked in his cell for so very long... exactly how long he did
not know. He could remember, faintly, memories of playing at a beach
as a child... years, maybe decades ago... He wasn't even 10 years
old...then. 21 had no name. the guards called him by his cell number,
and that was now who he was. "21." The undead man, Stitch, seemed to
know who he was. 21 decided to track this Stitch, and found him in the
Underground Sewers. Imploring Stitch to tell him what he knew of his
life, Stitch laughed... Enraged by Stitch's defiance, 21 charged!

Castle would have record of his birth. He remembered tales of great
warriors of justice who hailed from the legendary fortress, and so
headed northeast to the Citadel. The castle, set on the stony shores
of the Dead Sea was aged and broken. It endured many wars over time.
21 was met by an attractive barbarian woman named Keela. She told 21
to prove his strength before the court of Argos... They fought!

21 traveled north, wandering the shores of solitude, passing his
old prison home. He kept going north, forever north. He crossed the
Streppes of Skurlok and hiding in an old vessel stowed his way across
the Foreboding Channel. From the old city of Rezz, 21 went east to the
Glacial reefs near the Isle of Icylian... Finally, he found Shipwreck
waters. A spectral figure, seeing 21, drifted on the wind towards him...
and raising a mighty sword enraged!

Into the northern lands lumbered 21, into the snowbound region of
Skurlok. The cold wind bit at him, his fingers turning numb.
Ascending higher into the frigid mountains, 21 wondered who would live
so far from everyone and everything... The exertion even made 21 feel
old. He spent so many years in a cell... He reached the shattered
fortress, where a man wielding an axe attacked!

3C. WASTED TIME

Wasting his time with this woman, Keela, was enough. He would
waste no more time seeing this Dagan too. 21 had not forgotten that
the undead man, Stitch, came after him by name. He must know who he
was, and that information was precisely what 21 wanted. 21 learned
from a ranger near Mt. Krag that he could find Stitch within the
Underground Sewers. Upon seeing 21, Stitch looked afraid... 21 held no
mercy for him an attacked!

Leaving the glacial burial ground of the fated Magnus, 21 sought
the recluse barbarian known as Dagan in the Lost Fortress of Skurlok.
He found Dagan, kneeling before his wife's recently dug grave.
Surprised by 21, Dagan turned and fought!

Following Dagan's tip, 21 left the frozen wastelands of Skurlok
into the jungles of Barbaria. He came across the Forgotten Ruins,
where he was told Stitch and his master, Magnus, might be found.
Instead he encountered a ferocious ape, Mongo, who leapt from the
bushes with a snarl... They fought!
