purple haze filled the air and the smell of sulfur dominated the
senses... He could hear the screams of anguishing souls, tormenting
across the planes of hell and mortality... The Pillar rose from the
Earth, electricity arcing in all directions as it did... the demon Jinn
was there to help Corath, but she had changed... Twisted somehow by the
Pillar, she was not bound it seemed and attacked him!

COMBO RUNE ([]): "DAMAGE BONUS." Magnus will clutch his great sword
tightly and pull in energy from the air. During this time, Magnus'
sword will emit blue light rays and his attacks will become more
powerful. Press the R2 Button to release the attack.
THROW RUNE (U): "MANA DRAIN." Magnus will clutch his great sword
tightly and pull in energy from the air. This time, however, he will
be draining preciously magic energy from nearby opponents. This attack
is good for those opponents who rely more on magic attacks than sword
strikes so that they are unable to pull of rune attacks for a short
while. Press the R2 Button to release the attack.
OBJECT RUNE (X): Magnus will point his arm at the ground and will
bring up debris from the ground that will vacuum up like a Hoover and
juggle opponents up into the air like a cyclone. This attack is great
for taking on several opponents at one time or when you want to reach
out and juggle someone. Press the R2 Button to release attack.
COUNTER RUNE (/\): Magnus will pull back his great sword in a thrust
stance and spew out a continuous strain of cold ice from his great
sword at one or multiple opponents. This attack has to be manually
controlled to achieve maximum success. This attack is excellent for
bringing an opponents' energy down real fast! Press the R2 Button to
release the attack.

Magnus' rest was disturbed by the nimble demo Jinn as she poke him
with her taloned finger. She purred as she told Magnus his long
slumber was over. She spoke of the end of the world, that the time of
corruption was upon the mortal world. She exclaimed that the prophecy
had finally come to Barbaria! Magnus seemed uninterested, swatting at
her hand like an annoying fly. Jinn, angered, struck Magnus... and
they fought!

2B. CONFRONTING ARGOS

Magnus had been trapped for nearly a decade near his crashed ship
by some kind of curse for slaying the king of Argos. He had lived the
life of a sea captain, once commanding a fleet of vessels in the name
of the Overlord Zaugg in the Eastern Kingdom of Cordene. He should
have died many times in combat, but the relic Bloodsong hanging from
his leather strap about his neck always healed him from the brink of
death... Somehow, it fell from his neck in battle against the Argosian
King as they exchanged death blows... and he was caught between life and
death... and undead with free will... but he was bound to the ship he died
upon by some otherworldly curse... Free now, by a power he did not know,
Magnus journeyed to Argos to confront the daughter of its fallen king,
Princess Keela! He found her and attacked, demanding she give him
Bloodsong!

3A. FATHER'S MEMORY

Magnus felt important, known for his power to command the undead
to do his bidding and for being commander of the Eastern Naives. He
remembered his father, drafted into the armies of Argos long ago, and
his being left alone in battle after his platoon was ordered to attack
an unbeatable force commanded by the now disbanded Caspian
Legionnaires. Argos sent his father to his death knowingly... they said
it was for strategic necessity. Magnus always wondered why his
necessity to have a father mattered nothing to Argos? What about his
father's need to live? Magnus remembered a girl, Phade was her name,
that he'd met after she'd run away from her orphanage. She was
training then to become an assassin, and she was quite renown now.
Thought she might offer him advice on how to best hurt Argos... When he
found Phade, she demanded he prove himself worthy of her guidance... and
so they fought!

Magnus was enraged that some force, Keela's father!?, had saved
her from her rightful death! He went to the Spider's Lair to find
Phade, a master assassin, to see if she could tell him how to end
Keela's life when she was so protected... Phade told Magnus that he
would have to prove himself worthy before she would share such secrets...
A test of combat ensued...

Angered that Keela escaped, Magnus hunted her... He thought perhaps
she fled to an old alley, Dagan, high up in the Lost Fortress of
Skurlok. When he arrived, he found Stitch, an undead with free will...
Magnus possessed the innate ability to command the undead to do his
bidding, but Stitch was somehow unaffected... He had his own free will
although he was a living dead. Stitch attacked Magnus!

Dagan of the Clan Dolok. Phade wanted Dagan slain to fulfill one of
her assassinations and Magnus wanted him dead because he knew Dagan had
cut the hand from his mother years ago. Dagan saw him, ignorant of
Magnus' goals, and asked what brought this nautical dead to his lost
fortress? Magnus raged that he was the axe man!!!

down on, but she did what she had to do. She worked day and night for
anyone who could pay her with money, food, or shelter. One day she was
caught and the Skurlokian barbarian Dagan cut her hand off, saying she
would steal no more... She was taken to the Prisons of Akrowla where she
was to live out the rest of her days... Magnus remembered that he went
there as a child to find his mother and saw guards beating her, and a
big man in cell number 21 just watched... He went to find the
indifferent man from cell 21... He wanted justice! He found him within
Akrowla and attacked!

just as Stitch had within the Prisons of Akrowla, and they waged
battle...

Magnus traveled to the north where he had heard Mongo might be, an
ape he was told possessed Magnus' lost Bloodsong... He found no one in
the Forgotten Ruins and sat... Forestsong buzzed and grew warm, alerting
Magnus of danger. From the bushes leapt Dagan... Dagan had been hunting
Magnus for quite some time and finally had his opportunity to strike.
Due to Forestsong's warning, Magnus was not taken by surprise and was
ready for combat. He attacked Dagan!

and beset Mongo with his huge sword!

Stitch attacked him!

raged, for this was a man who could have helped his mother long ago
when she was imprisoned but did nothing... He attacked!

Forestsong and Bloodsong, to kill Keela in the name of justice! He
attacked Keela in the capital of Argos, Shorestone Castle!

Everywhere Magnus went there was more violence and killing... He

could finally strike her down he thought! They fought!

Feeling powerful and successful, Magnus set out to the Lower
Darklands to find the demon Jinn to finish the demon that awoke him
from death... He found her deep within the volcanic region and asked who
he served? Magnus knew demons existed only in the mortal world when
bound to a summoner. Jinn said unless defeated, she could tell him no
information of her master... they joined battle!

Finding Corath within the Land of Desolation, Magnus was surprised
to see a light purple aura glowed around his body... this was an odd
magic thought Magnus... Near Corath stood a Pillar of Magic, lightning
arcing all around it. Corath rose and told Magnus that his quest was
over, that he had come upon the all powerful Corath!

Magnus entered the portal and found himself in another place, far
atop an island standing on a stone bridge. He saw a stone golem, a
huge man made of stone. The golem turned its head to Magnus and spoke.
You have done well, Magnus, to come so far to find me. It is a shame
that your arrogance has led you to think you could stop me... The gods
fear me, Magnus... Why don't you tremble before me? Do you know who I
am? I am Zaugg!

will send a barrage of rusty daggers from his chest high into the air.
The daggers will lose air from the launch and will begin dropping down
all around him. This attack is best used against multiple enemies or
to juggle any unsuspecting enemy for they will get taken into the air
by the dagger and will also get sliced on the way back down. This is
one of the coolest looking attacks in the game. Press the R2 Button to
release the attack.
