Aliens vs. Predator: Extinction - Strategy Guide (Page 02)

Below are the cheat codes, hints and help for Aliens vs. Predator: Extinction - Strategy Guide (Page 02).

* To create a Carrier, select the upgraded Praetorian and press the black
button.

* To create a Ravager, select the upgraded Praetorian, pull and hold L and
press the black button.

Spore Sight

Hive Nodes, Runners, Praetorians, and Queens emit spores that coat living
organisms, allowing you to trac them for a limited time.

Healing

Most Aliens can only heal when stepping on hive-space.

* To generate hive-space, select the Drone and press the black button. A hive
node is created and it creates the Hive-space.

* Only the Drone can create Hive-nodes.

* Facehuggers can move on the hive-space without losing health.

Gathering hosts.

Since Facehuggers are vulnerable when not on Hive-space, it's better to bring
hosts to the hive-space than infesting them elsewhere.

To gather new hosts:

1) Select an alien and pull and hold R. The Command list appears.

2) Press Y where the hosts are located then move the cursor to where you want
the hosts moved and press Y again.

3) Release R and the Alien takes the hosts to the designated area.

* Comatose hosts show up on the mini-map in yellow.

Aliens.

The Aliens are my favorite characters because they are the most diverse group
out there. I would be pleased to review them for you. Aliens kick ass in
numbers, and suck alone.

Queen
Usage - 5

Upgrade is tougher and can deflect all but heavy munitions. She also causes
nearby Transbreed Aliens to go into a combat frenzy.

Summary: Only Alien that can create eggs or order upgrades, a hive may only
have one Queen at a time.

Personal Opinion

A tank in itself, you should attack with it when faced against another hive.
Just know when to pull it out of battle.

Praetorian
Usage - 5

Upgrade can transform into a Carrier or Ravager.

Summary: The Praetorian is a very much needed Alien in any hive, as it can
transform into a Queen and possesses a durable exoskeleton, sprays acidic blood
and has armor-piercing claws.

Personal Opinion

I have nothing to say. You now that you are to use it. Recommending it is
stupid. Use it. It is versatile and you will need it.

Facehugger/ Praetorian Facehugger
Usage - 5

Upgrade causes the Chestburster it carries to split into twins when producing
simpler Aliens like the Drone and the Runner.

Summary: It impregnates host life forms with a Chestburster and is very
vulnerable when not on hive-space or a Carrier.

Personal opinion

I have nothing to say. You now that you are to use it. Recommending it is
stupid. Use it. This is more important than the Praetorian.

Drone/ Cystic Drone
Usage - 2

Upgrade spits a cyst-filled acid froth on potential hosts. Aliens grown from
these hosts are tougher.

Summary: The Drone is the drone of the hive, that is not armored and suceptible
to all weapons. It is the only alien capable of creating hive nodes, with the
exception of the Queen. It is excellent for dragging hosts back to the hive for
impregnation.

Personal Opinion

Use for stronger aliens is the only thing that the Drone is good for.
Dragging hosts back can be fatal, as it can get attacked on the way back. A
Carrier can carry facehuggers to potential hosts, and is tougher all around
except for armor, which it lacks. Toughening
only works with transbreeds.

Runner/ Cystic Runner
Usage - 2

Upgrade injects poisonous spores that weaken its victim over time and allow it
to track the victim.

Summary: The Runner is a lightweight, fast, and ideal for scouting. It leaps at
enemies, causing extra damage. It heals when not under attack and explodes
violently when under attack.

Personal Opinion

The Runner is only a tad better than the Drone. Its scouting abilities
often lead the enemies back to the hive and is lightly armored. Can't stand up
to anything.

Warrior/ Cystic Warrior
Usage - 3

Upgrade can penetrate armor, function after extreme amounts of damage, and
regenerate lost limbs when on hive space.

Summary: The Warrior is fast, tough, and savage. When killed, it drenches
nearby enemies in acid.

Personal Opinion

A very good warrior, but there are better Aliens that can be found. It use
is best around the beginning and middle of the game.

PredAlien/ Cystic PredAlien
Usage - 4

Upgrade has a tougher exoskeleton.

Summary: The PredAlien inflicts extensive damage, but lacks armor, and it heals
even when away from hive-space.

Personal Opinion

The PredAlien is a standard alien on an Predator level. A kick-ass alien.
Use when possible. Upgrade when possible. Only transbreed worth using. Go for
the Cystic Predalien.

Carrier
Usage - 4

Upgrade can carry 12 facehuggers. When killed by anything except fire, it hurls
it facehuggers and spews acid.

Summary: The Carrier can carry up to 6 facehuggers without an upgrade, it has
no armor and is vulnerable to fire.

Personal Opinion

A must for the beginning of any stage. There are times when it becomes
useless, though. Facehuggers do not lose health when on his back, so it is
better than the Drone.

Ravager
Usage - 5

Upgrade deflects medium caliber weapon fire and enters a cataleptic state when
near death that allows it to rebuild itself and return to battle.

Summary: The Ravager is a powerful death machine with hull blades for hands
that slice through armor. The Ravager kills it prey outright, rather than
rendering them comatose for impregnation.

Personal Opinion

When you have enough aliens, this alien becomes your jewel. This is the
DeathAlien and is among the most elite of elite aliens. The equivalent to the
Exosuit in terms of assault.

Strategies

Now, since we have all of the characters listed, we should learn how to use
them. I will provide a scenario below for each of the groups. This have nothing
to do with the game; they're just samples showing how each works.

Marines

The Marines are sneaky devils, the lot of them.

Say now, do you notice something? The Snipers hiding out are doomed because the
Ravagers are directly below. Group 5 is toast, unless Group 4 alters course.
They would run into the Drone, the Cystic Predalien, and the Predalien. Big
toughies. Group 4 won't make it in time.
Group 3 can assist Group 5 and 4 because they aren't under attack.
How to get there? It's shown below. Group 1 will destroy its adversaries with
ease, as it is a Warrior and a Cystic Warrior. Group 2
will assist Group 1, so Group 1 already won the battle.

Here's a tip: Never remove your troops from a hub. The smart thing to do would
be to upgrade your sniper. Now the snipers have a chance.
Group one will take Group 3's place. With help, the team of Aliens should go
down shortly. Group 1 and 4 can advance to help group 5, if the battle isn't
already over.

Couldn't be done any other way.
